Can I link files from 2 different locations. i.e Music, Clips on a server while running the application from 2 different computers? The reason is, i want to work on both and have it so that if need, I can take my Laptop and show the progress to others.
View 5 RepliesI have Corel VideoStudio X6 and am experiencing a relink problem. I moved all my media (pics and vid) from c:HomeMediaFiles to d:MediaFiles. I open VS and relink to the new location.
I noticed it didn't relink properly, I have videos with the same name in different directories. In the end it linked to the incorrect video.So, here's my question:
Is there a master file the VideoStudio application uses to reference video locations? I would assume it’s the library and I was hoping I could possibly open the file (with notepad or something) 'find and replace' c:HomeMediaFiles to d:MediaFiles and avoid the relinking through the interface.
I reloaded my library so I still have everything with the old references after I tried to relink through the UI. Good thing I backup regularly.
I am new to using Tool Palettes. I have created a folder on my C: drive which contains all my tool palettes. Right now, I get the symbol of a circle with a line drawn through it and cannot use my tool palettes.
In the Options tab, I noticed that there are the "Tool Palettes File Locations" and also "Authoring Palette File Locations". What is the difference between the two? Do I need to do something to both so I can use my tool palettes without difficulty?
Any way to link audio and video together to if you move one they both move?

When I place a psd file in Illustrator, I am not able to check the "link" box and it automatically embeds the image. I don't know if there is something else I need to do to make the box checkable, but I need to be able to link the images.

It takes endless loading time if any computer has excell sheets opened. We use copy / paste special ( linked ) command to brought excel tables to the DWG files. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have never seen this before we implemented vault. But, this could be a inventor related issue. In vault collaboration 2012 we use a single project file for all projects. The ipj file is checked into vault. We keep a unchecked-out copy in the working folder. By the end of the day I must I started and closed inventor several times. I notice that there are several copies of shortcut link (lnk) files to the ipj file created in the same location as of ipj file.

how to properly link my footage on my timeline to color corrected files from film convert. I know how to do it to each individual clip at a time, but when I select a whole folder, it always relinks the media to it's original destination and not the new destination with the color corrected files. What's the correct way to link multiple clips to new source files?

The goal is to set up all of the 200 files in such a way that they can all be modified by a master setting. For example, I would like to control font size, line weight, etc. in this "master". It could simple be a file with settings or another AI file.
I would also need to "break the link" at some point (or just have it such there is not dependency that would make it unusable). That way I could disseminate each file without the need for the master.
After installing Mavericks, I can no longer link files in illustrator CC as the finder window closes by itself after one second or if I click on anything. It was happening with save as also, but that seems to have rectified itself by reinstalling the program.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI recently began using lightroom and stored the files on the local drive of my macbook pro (current os) until I ran out of space. Exported the catalogue to an external HD, then deleted the files from the local drive. As I tried to import the .lrcat file associated with the export to the external HD and received this error:
"Can not import from this catalog at this time. The catalog is either in use by another copy of Lightroom or was closed improperly. If it was closed improperly, please consider doing an integrity check when opening."
I am not running LR on any other computers so I figure Lightroom was "closed improperly".
I'm attempting to create a dynamic link from PR to AE (both CC) by right clicking on the desired clip in my PR sequnce and selecting "Replace with AE Comp". Doing so properly launches AE, asks me to save the AE project, and creates a comp with the correct parameters (duration, frame rate, size, etc) with the desired comp name. The sequence in PR shows the linked comp with the correct comp name. However, in both AE and PR the video clip is simply black. In my understanding of Dynamic Link, the original files (clips) should be sent over to the AE project. In my case, I only see the project with no associated files. Is there a trick (or a known reason) why the files would not be transpored to the AE project?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm messing around with tables and data links, practicing. I copied a range of cells in Excel, and did paste special to create a linked table.
Now I can delete the table object, but I cannot delete the link, cannot detach it.
When in Data Manager if I right click on the data link and click delete I get the error message "The data link is being used and cannot be deleted".
I have tried detaching, and the detach does not seem to take.
Now also, the table will not update from the source xls.
Win XP, AcadLT 2011, Office 2010. Using compatible setting for saving spreadsheet, for Office 2007 (not xlsx).
If I create a linked table by starting with the Table icon, choose "from a data link", choose the excel spreadsheet, etc., then I am able to later update the table from the spreadsheet, detach, delete the link, etc. But I can only delete the link if the table is not selected when I open the Data Link Manager.
But the one that was created following the directions from the Autocad video, with the copy, paste special, that link will not detach nor delete.
I recently switched to a new machine and manually copied and pasted my custom settings over and set paths to the new location. Everything seems to work fine except when I click on "Plot Stamp Settings".I receive an error that says "Data Link Files" and sometimes it says "LISP".

View 9 Replies View RelatedI usually use a dual monitor setup (Photoshop on one and all of my pallets on the other), but occasionally, when traveling, I need to use a single monitor. But then, when I get back to my 2-monitor setup, all of my pallet locations are lost.
Is there a file where the PS pallet locations are stored (like and ini file maybe?) that I could save elsewhere on my computer to easily restore them?
Why is it when I move the X4 files (brushes, picture tubes, etc) to another location and even enter that information in the program that the program moves everything BACK into My Documents folder when I restart the program the next time?
The My Documents folder is for MY DOCUMENTS, not brushes, picture tubes, scripts, maps, gradients and all this other crap.
Why I can't stop this program from inserting folders in My Documents and filling it up with crap. I don't want it there.
I would like to use my part number in the upper left hand corner of my dwg tab and also on my parts list tab as well as it original location in the title block of my dwg. How can I set this up so when I change the part number in my title block it will also automatically populate the other 2 locations? I am using Lt 2010.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a question about the location of any metadata (IPTC, keywords, etc.) written in Lightroom 5 to my raw files. I understand that this data is written (embedded) into jpg files but as a .xmp file next to the raw files. My question is, if I purge the jpgs and do NOT continuously copy the updated .xmp files to my backup drives, and if I were to lose my Lightroom catalog, will all my Lightroom metadata that I added be lost? Or, does Lightroom keep all my metadata in the catalog file? Is the Lightroom catalog the "source" location of the data that's added to the jpgs and .xmp file?

When we installed the vault we created a drive that the vault resides in. The templates also reside on this drive but outside of the vault. in 2012 when I selected the icon to create a new part/assy/drawing I would get the following drop down menu:
now in 2013 we have a new and imporved splash screen with more options, I think:
However as you can see, there is nothing to choose. If I use the drop down arrow this work, but not much as I have the 4 standard part, assy, drawing and project icons appear. We have used the options menu and changed the file search paths to point to our template folder but we still do not have any options in the new menu and the drop still does not show options for sheetmetal or square parts. The drawing does open with the correct template though. I have also opened each template in 2013 and saved it so it should be migrated to the new format. but that has not worked. How to set up the new splash menu to work?
