May 17, 2013is it possible to show all files from a folder with external links in a listbox? Is it possible to check if the link is OK?

Lightroom :: Exported Library To External HD - Error In Attempt To Link To Files
Feb 22, 2012I recently began using lightroom and stored the files on the local drive of my macbook pro (current os) until I ran out of space. Exported the catalogue to an external HD, then deleted the files from the local drive. As I tried to import the .lrcat file associated with the export to the external HD and received this error:
"Can not import from this catalog at this time. The catalog is either in use by another copy of Lightroom or was closed improperly. If it was closed improperly, please consider doing an integrity check when opening."
I am not running LR on any other computers so I figure Lightroom was "closed improperly".

Sep 14, 2011I have never seen this before we implemented vault. But, this could be a inventor related issue. In vault collaboration 2012 we use a single project file for all projects. The ipj file is checked into vault. We keep a unchecked-out copy in the working folder. By the end of the day I must I started and closed inventor several times. I notice that there are several copies of shortcut link (lnk) files to the ipj file created in the same location as of ipj file.

Apr 15, 2013Currently we create presentation documents InDesign. Each presentation page is a linked Illustrator file (the file contains drawings and description texts). We write the text in Illustrator instead of over it in InDesign because multiple designers/writers will work on each page. We have text that sometimes appear on multiple pages, this text has previously been copied and pasted into each Illustrator file that it needs to appear in, this is inefficient and prone to error.
Is there a way to link to a text file in Illustrator that remains updatable? I poked around here and found information relating to Variable Data – things similar to Data Merge in InDesign. This isn't the solution I'm looking for however. It seems like a plugin or script is the solution.

Oct 25, 2011I have shp files and an external database file and I wish to merge the data from the External database to the Shp files OD table.They both have a column with entries matching so I figured I could use a Join to complete this. This is where I have run into difficulties.
I tried to import the spreadsheet using FDO but there is no XYZ data its just pure data. I added dummy XYZ data and tried again but I am unable to insert the data. the checkbox is greyed out, I select the Identity property to match the main title and it does not work.
I tried adding a new data source but I am unable to perform a join with this. right way to import the data from the excel sheet and add / merge the data to the FDO table created by the shp file.

Dec 9, 2012when trying to follow the "Getting Started: Animated Battle Scene" tutorial. I am at the "Adding Materials to Objects In the Scene" section of the tutorial where I am being instructed to add the textures onto the objects, however when I open up the Compact Material Editor, all of the samples (Battlefield, Cannon, Windmill, ect) are nothing but grey spheres.
I was able to locate the image files stored in my Documents/3ds_Max_Tutorials_scene_files folder, however when I close out of 3DS Max, reopen the program, and reopen the scene, I am presented with the "Missing External Files" message box. Where should I store the image files so that 3DS Max is able to locate the image files?

Dec 26, 2011I'm messing around with tables and data links, practicing. I copied a range of cells in Excel, and did paste special to create a linked table.
Now I can delete the table object, but I cannot delete the link, cannot detach it.
When in Data Manager if I right click on the data link and click delete I get the error message "The data link is being used and cannot be deleted".
I have tried detaching, and the detach does not seem to take.
Now also, the table will not update from the source xls.
Win XP, AcadLT 2011, Office 2010. Using compatible setting for saving spreadsheet, for Office 2007 (not xlsx).
If I create a linked table by starting with the Table icon, choose "from a data link", choose the excel spreadsheet, etc., then I am able to later update the table from the spreadsheet, detach, delete the link, etc. But I can only delete the link if the table is not selected when I open the Data Link Manager.
But the one that was created following the directions from the Autocad video, with the copy, paste special, that link will not detach nor delete.

is there anyway to create a table and link data directly from the .ipt to the .dwg that would update when I edited or revised the .ipt. I know that you can do this by exporting the parameters in an excel file then importing them to the .dwg but once I do that there isn't anyway to auto update the data....

Jun 8, 2012I have a situation where I have my master BOM that is shown on sheet 1 of my drawing that represents everything shown on the drawing. What I am running into is I have to detail a couple of sub-assemblies as details on the drawing.
What I do is bring in views from that sub assembly seperate from the main assembly, but the problem is those items dont show up in the main BOM. I end up having to drag in a second BOM that I place off of the drawing sheet as well as adding line items in the main BOM to represent these components in the sub assembly. Then manually change the items numbers in the second BOM to match the iotem numbers in the main BOM. What I would like to know is if it is at all possible to link the two BOM's together so I can change the item numbers in the main BOM and it funnels down to the second BOM.

It seems that nearly every tutorial I have tried to do is missing critical external files. When I open the material editor, the compact one, the sample files are there, but they are all blank. I can activate the command by using the CommandManager

But the command then requires a UI selection - I want to select the iLogic LOD.
I've tried using the CommandManager.PostPrivateEvent but to no avail.
