Revit :: Create Text And Then Attach Formula To Change It
Feb 6, 2013
it is possible to create text and then attach a formula to it to change it.
For example:I want to be able to draw or pick a line and if the line is less than X ft than "Say this" if the line is greater than X ft than "Say that"
We have a family that errors when certain values are hit. Its realated to Automatic Sketch Dimension reassociating with work planes when two workplans over lap... Anyway, the QA team knows about this.
The problem I have is that I have an IF statement to trigger an generic error message when these two rare conditions are met. I would rather a pop up window explaining what thy can not do. "Position of legs from ends can not equal half total length" and an OK button.
Is there a "say" style command for revit formulas?
I'm facing a problem dealing with visibility formulas... My situation that im dealing with is, I have 2 yes/no visibility parameters, one that is called Right side clearance and another one named Left side clearance. I want to create another yes/no visibility parameter that's called Clearance. I want to link the Right and Left clearance parameter to the Clearance parameter where if it is off, then there will be nothing that shows.. But if I want it on then I would have to select either right or left without them both showing up?
i want to create a sketch line for a sweep where the radius of the curve varies.. i don't want to use a spline or piece together arcs.. something about distance and radius along the line.. is there a formula and can this be done in revit?
I wish to create a formula for a family parameter which itself references a 'Type' of an imported family. Specifically I wish to create a quoin stack which can be used for a 'reveal' situation either side of a door or window rather than just on a corner. A 'quoin stack,' as that which comes with the revit content files, typically is made up of two vertical arrays which intersect giving alternative long and short sides. Each of the arrays is made up of a different quoin type, a 'Short' and a 'Long' type which swap dimensions from from perpendicular face to the other. This of course is no good for a reveal situation where on the window or door reveal of both interleived courses needs to be the same, whilst maintaining the 'long/short' appearance on the wall face containing the window or door.
I have got so far as to create a 'reveal depth' parameter within the quoin stack family but need to find a way of addressing the 'Long' quoin type to change its 'short' dimension to suit the reveal depth whilst changing the 'long' dimension of the 'Short' quoin type to be the same.
is it possible (Revit 2014) to set up alternate dimensions that report the value represented in a different way via a simple formula?
I am trying to show my dims as brick units (based on standard metric bricks 215x102.5x65mm with 10mm mortar joint), and was hoping to create new 3 dim types, based on CO+, CO- and CO, so the alternate dims i want would be:
I am trying to change a dimension based on what yes/no parameters are checked. It keeps telling me that its "a bad if statement format". It works fine for the first teo dimension tests but when I add this last one I get the error. I need the 3rd dimension to check against 3 yes/no parameters all being = yes before moving on to the next check.
I work a lot with Processing to create picture based on mathematical formula, but i need to do the same in Illustrator in order to print those picture.
Is there any way to do this, like the expressions in After Effects, or a third party plugins.
Or did i have to find a way to output good picture from Processing.
i have a table with a simple formula =sum(b3:b16) the formula works fine what i want to do is after the formula i want to add text. if the value of the formula is 22 i want the cell to read 22 V.F. i'm using civil 3d 2014
I want to attach a wall to a floor as shown in the picture. The wall has 2 layers. The Finish-Layer is supposed to cover the floor. (Now done by using the function "Top Extension Distance" for the finish layer.)I am searching for a solution that allows me to change the shape of the floor. The wall should then follow the shape of the floor.
Is it possible to create a wall in Revit that will change in size along its length. At one end of the concrete wall the wall thickness is 12", at the other end the wall thickness is 24" thick. The wall will grow in size from one length to the other.
Exist a way to Attach the top of the wall in a element that is not a floor or roof. I have a wall under a stair and i want to make de top of the with a slope.
I am using Revit 2013 and I am trying to create a text parameter for my windows that will tell you what grid is installed in the window according to which grids you choose (from my parameters above) I have included a picture to better show what I am trying to do. So far the parameters i have tried to use don't seem to work.
we started working in a project in Revit 2013 and at one point we decided to export all drawings to Autocad . I have a huge problem , the Text we used in Revit was Architxt but in Autocad it shows all the text in Ariel font and AutoCad won't let me change it to Architxt again, so far it is fine I can deal with that. the problem is I tried to create a new Architxt text style in Autocad but it shows as Arial font. now all my our projects are missed up , the text shows in Arial font.
I'm currently trying to dimension my working drawings, I was wondering how I could change the colour of the dimensions and dimension text so it stands out from the drawing.
we are using a custom font throughout the whole project, I need to use the same font within the stairs family , how do I change the "DN" in stairs to the other font?
is it possible to change the line patern of leaders in text notes, from solid to dash or another one? I know I can change the tick type but can´t find anything for the line.
We have a problem in some of our views (mostly dependent views), Central file.We place normal annotation text (not littera) and everything looks fine.
Then it happens, random can take days, and noone tuch the views nor the text style, that the text duplicate itself up to 1-4 times, and also change its location on the view.(The text don't lie on each other, but spread around the view, but keeps the condition in location to each other from the origin texts that was placed)
When we have encounter this we have deleted the copys and placed the text right again and then it works for a while...everything repeats itself, and in the end (random timeflow) the text deletes itself completely.
For some reason I now have to enter a path name at a command prompt in order to open another drawing. I also have the same situation when trying to attach a pdf or jpeg file to my drawing. how to revert back to the standard window of opening or attaching options?
I am using "Attach Text to Leader" to add information about ballooned items to the balloon leader. The same information is needed for each balloon leader as shown below.
<COMPANY>, <DESCRIPTION> <PART NUMBER>
I would like to just copy the fields from the first "Attach to Leader Text" and paste them in the subsequent "Attach to Leader Text" instances, instead of picking the "Type" and "Property" from the pull down lists for each of the three property I want to access, each time I place a "Attach to Leader Text" .
The problem is the fields in the subsequent Attach to Leader Text pasted instances do not automatically link to iProperties on the ballooned item? how to automate this procedure/
A quick question about Mulitleaders. Is it possible to force AutoCAD to attach the Arrow to the right side of the text? As it is right now if I move the arrow to far to the left, the arrow jumps over and attaches to the left side - is it possible to force it to stay on the right side no matter how far left I push it?
How can I attach text to a logo that moves from one side of the screen to the other so that the text follows the logo or vice versa? Can one insert a logo into the text module? Or will action have to be used?
