I am having issues with not being able to put in a column on an angle when using Revit Architecture. I read a troubleshoot guide and you can do it using Revit Structure, however Architecture is a different story.Why is this, and more importantly how can I put a column in on an angle.
View 1 RepliesHow do you get MTEXT columns to go from left to right? The default is left to right. When the mtext gets to the column limit it creates another column to the right. I want the column to be on the left. I've done this 'before and I thought the variable was available in the properties bar but I can't find how to do this anymore.
Right to Left is the way of drawings.
I'm modelling columns in-place. I have given the first one a Type Mark name but when i copy it the Type Name does not copy with it and the count in my schedule remains at 1.
Due to the shape of the member i had to model it as an in-place family.
I have been trying to add beams to a layout of columns and some of them (not all) are behaving oddly. Instead of the beam trimming square at the side of the columns, the column and beam are joining with a mitered connection. The same is happening with some of the intersecting beams...a 45 degree miter on each beam.
There must be some setting that I have inadvertantly changed but I cannot find what it is. Changing trimming parameters in the Properties panel that seem like they should be involved, has no effect. And neither does cycling, via the Control key, the connection parameter when the beams are placed.
I have a series of 3d walls in autocad Architecture 2012 and an existing CAD 2d structural column layout.
I need to remove/cut or trim the wall around the HSS columns on a floor plan. The walls show the consttruction of the wall and I can't seem to create a void or mass to cut out around the column. Is there an easy way of doing this so that I can just place this in a block to auto cut the wall. My hope was to create a column block so that I can just drop the HSS columns wherever i want them.
I know i can use a wipeout to clear the area however, that is not ideal as we have other linework that need to be visible.
We are using ACA 2011. When I look to place a default Steel Column from the Design tab of the Design tool palette, I see no optoins re: the make-up of the column, only the length - the column only shows as a generic extruded box. Are there I-Beam, C-Beam profiles loaded anywhere in the content that I can access.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe attached schedule is all good except that I want to get a total for the columns Duplex, Duplex GFI, Fourplex and Simplex. The schedule only shows the (1) column at the moment Duplex Total created as an additional paramter with calculated totals in the project. I am trying to link that to the Duplex column etc...,
Please note that those columns Duplex, Duplex GFI, Fourplex, and Simplex are graphical yes/no paramters for my all in one outlet family created using the annotation symbols separatey loaded in a 3d wall hosted electrical family then turned off and on accordingly.
It's all working nicely expect that the different heights are counting separately, when I want a total of just Duplex's, Simplex's and so forth.
Why my MTEXT columns become very narrow and tall after I exit and re-open a drawing?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe beam is continuous. The connection details are not important. They're some kind of plate welded to the beam and bolted through the column web. I don't need it to be able to do structural calculations.
Join won't select a structural column or beam. Align creates a rotation error because of the beam's pitch. The column height appears to only change by the Level, but again the beam is pitched. Setting the height above the beam breaks the beam.

When splitting a schedule, the title of the schedule shows up above each of the columns created. Is there a way of having it so that when you slit a schedule in multiple columns, the title centeres over the entire view and shows itself only once instead of once over each column?

1) Why structural columns don't show up in architectural plans. The only way I can see to coordinate the structure with the architectural elements is to use structural plans.
2) How to make structural columns visible in architectural plans? I've tried the visibility graphics but everything seems to be turned on by default.

In my previous version, the position could be set to "center / offset" which was an "and / or" option depending on the cursor location. Is this option available in ACA 2012?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I insert a pdf it does not have a white background and it REALLY slows down CAD. I played with the contrast and fade but the image gets worse. The best I can get the image to look is having the contrast set to 100 and the fade set to 0. I have used this pdf in other projects using 2004 and 2007 but with 3013 it is inserting it quite differently.

I am now having issues any time I try to insert a Block into any drawing - I get a Fatal Error.
I have uninstalled & reinstalled this afternoon but I am still having the same issue.
It happens when I am trying to insert blocks from both the Design Centre & also from Tool palettes.
Other users in my office do not have this problem, the only difference between my set-up & theirs is that I have installed the 'AEC Section Display & Tag Scale Hotfix' but I have tried uninstalling this but had the same results.
When using the design pallette tool bar, my objects will not insert into the selected surface? Reasons Why?

View 9 Replies View Relatedi would like to rotate an object to match the angle of another. I can measure the angle but there are many decimal points and I want it to be exact.
One method i have employed is to change the ucs - z setting to align with the object to be rotated then click it and select a point that intersects the other object (this case a line) and then the 2nd snap is somewhere along the line.
this works although sometimes i have to rotate a second time 90 deg. or 180 to get proper orientation.
Is there method, or hidden snap?

View 1 Replies View Relatedjust got my boss to agree today to use cad's dimensions instead of the way he's always done it... which is dimensioning everything (everything!) by hand. Clearly that's just nonsense. But what is important is that I make sure these new autocad dimensions look exactly like the ones we do by hand.
I think I've pretty much got the basics down, I just have one major problem: tick orientation. When doing horizontal dimensions, the ticks run from bottom left to upper right. When doing vertical dimensions, they flip. This would drive my boss nuts... to the extent that I doubt I could get him to buy into this if I can't figure out how to keep the ticks running in the same direction.
I understand I could just dimension with no ticks whatsoever, and then just go copy them in by hand, but that reeks of the old, laborious way of dimensioning... and it really seems like there should be an easy answer to always keeping the ticks running the same way.
how to define a distance while placing a wall, but what if the wall needs to be on a specific angle, say 45 deg? I can see the angle being measured but is there a way to enter the angle?

How can you change the rotation on the screen accept to use the rotation command?
The tag itself is referencing a block I went to the block and changed the block now if I go to insert the multi view block it prompts for rotation but not to edit the attribute is there any way to get it to do both?
