View 1 Replies The properties unit of all my Revit's door, wall, windows..etc is millimeter. How do I change it back to inch and feet?It was also strange that when I opened some files, the unit became inch and feet. The units of doors, windows, etc became inch and feet.
However, when I create a new project, the unit becomes millimeter again.
I'm trying to model a parametric simple unit in Revit. So, I decided t use the generic family template. I want to model a rectangular unit with exterior wooden wall and interior steel frame. I have three problems
1- I have imported structural column profile into the family, but my problem is that I cannot align the section to two reference line. For example, I want to align the top of the column to the top exterior wall, and align the left side of the column to the left exterior wall; but I can just assign of these sides.
2- I've imported structural framing family in my generic model, but I cannot assign a parameter to the length of the beam, and the length is constant, and I can change the length just in 3D view. Do you know how to assign a parameter to the length?
3-I couldn't use the predefined walls it the family, so, I used extrusion. But I couldn't use the Revit windows family on the extrusion walls. Is there any way to use the predefined wall systems in Revit to be able to use the windows families?
Here is the picture of my model:

In autocad, we would create an xref of the unit, then xref as needed on base plans. Thus the ability to place multiple xrefs of the unit on various levels while maintatining the ability to make one change to the original unit plan and have it update thru out the project....How would we do this in Revit?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to convert a number of raw point clouds into PCG files for insertion into Revit. I'd like to do this ahead of time, and preferably without having to open and insert into Revit. I know Revit uses adpointcloudindexer.exe to index the raw file formats, but was unsuccessful at trying to launch it by itself. If this can be used as a standalone convertor, possibly by combining the exe with a switch and a file location?

This is not a 2012 problem it happened to me with other 3ds max version, well my problem is im working with unit scale in meters, so when it comes with small geometry it disappear when i zoom in which made dealing with small details are hard to model and to see.

My problem is that in the SOS dialog, when I insert the measurements in the tutorial, I believe they are supposed to be in meters. Such as the measurements I am instructed to enter are like 2.0, 0.45 and so on. But when I enter the numbers, they display in foot and inches. I went to CIVIL VIEW "PREFERENCES", but here is no way to change the settings.

When the MAX is imported the object is read only. Why is this? Surely only XREFs and File Linked entities should be read only?

View 1 Replies View RelatedCurrently running Design Standard Suite CS5, but want to upgrade just PS6!
Because of Adobe rules I am unable to do so, must upgrade complete suite! So, I thought maybe I would re-install PS4 (a stand alone unit) and upgrade to 6 from this. Question, do I need to uninstall PS5 first before re-installing PS4? And secondly can I continue to use the other products within CS5 with PS6? I think it is totally unfair of Adobe to penalize loyal customers this way. My circumstances have changed and I don't have the need to use the complete suite as much as I did in the past.
I downloaded student version Autodesk Inventor 2012 a few month ago. When I start the inventor and go to OPEN, I had the standard options in both inches and millimeters.
BUT someone I work with kind of deleted all my SI unit settings on my computer (thought that we will never use it cuz we are in America...) and now when I want to make something new, i only have Inch options to choose from.
Now I need to make something that is in millimeters, but when I go to File> OPEN, I only have standard options in INCHes....
Should I delete my current Inventor and Download a new one? OR Can I download a folder or file that contains all the SI unit ?
I used to add some parts to CC in Inventor and also some profiles. Whenever I create an assembly I want these profiles I made myself to be counted in millimiteres, whereas it is counted in how many pieces of this long profile I used.
I want these custom made profiles to be counted same as standard pipes from CC- in millimiters.
I purchased Xara 8 in June but now have a new computer. I downloaded the program to my new computer and all seemed to be okay with the install, but I can't change the unit default from millimeters to inches. In fact I can't change the units to anything; it keeps reverting back to millimeters. Then I tried changing the font default and it changed it to millimeters no matter which unit I chose. I don't know if any of the other options can be changed. I generally change them as I need them. Should I uninstall it and try again? I lost my CD copy to theft and have to use the online download.
