I've selected Symbolic lines for a family. I draw them and after importing them into the model I notice they're model lines for some odd reason. But when I go into the family and select the model lines the Convert command is greyed out.. What is causing this?
View 1 RepliesI have some Symbolic Lines in a Revit Family, any time I go to "delete" any of them the file goes into "Regenerating" mode and will not come out out of it without hitting "Cancel". If go to move or copy a "Void" I have created in the files it does the same thing.

When loaded into a project, I cannot snap to the symbolic lines. I have run into this problem before but never took the time to solve it.
Or can symolic lines not be used to snap to?
I have an extrusion with a profile consisting of two offset arcs. This results in a curved surface.
I want to show a line in 2.5" from the top, bottom, and start and end edges of the curve. What I've done to accomplish this is to create two reference planes, one 2.5" down from the top of the extrusion, and another 2.5" from the bottom.
For the vertical lines, I then have to create a reference plane that is a chord of the arc of the surface, where the plane intersects the outer surface 2.5" from the edge on each side.
I have some other items that are being drawn on this curved surface, and to be honest, that's a bit of a pain. Am I missing some easier way to accomplish this?
If this was a project file, all sorts of options, but I'm not finding any in the family editor.
How do I convert Detail Lines to non-plotting Reference Lines or Reference Planes? (or to a reference line that would not plot in the future?).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to align a nested family to a reference line in my host family so that it rotates around a certain point.
I've created the reference line in my host family, locked the end point to two reference planes and then gave an angular parameter to the angle between the ref. line and the ref. plane.
I then inserted the nested family and aligned it to the ref. line. The problem is that when I flex the angle, i get a "Constraints not satisfied" error..
What could be wrong?
I'm using a generic face based family for both host and nested families...

I am having a problem with the show hidden line command, because when used in the project I can see dashed lines and continuous lines. I was looking for how to manage the line pattern in this command but there is no way to do it.
See the attached image of my problem.
There are manys lines appearing in the converted OBJ file:
vn -1.#QNAN0 -1.#QNAN0 -1.#QNAN0
So how can I convert the correct obj file?
I am working in Photoshop CS3 Extended and I suddenly do not have access to the print command (or to page setup, or print one copy). These three commands are grayed out while the rest of the File drop down menu is active. No trouble printing in other apps.

If so that should be at the top of the list of the wishlist as conversion of even simple existing pages is not possible. Although complex, it should be quite feasible to gather the structure of the page (for instance a few nested div elements) and "wrap them" into a new structure as if it were elements created using edge. What it seems to be necessary is a parser which may require some user input upon "n from non Edge-generate html" so that if missing info are indeed the case, the user can then provide them at the time of conversion.
Not trying to trivialize or over-simplifying the matter in any way, but I know that it's definitely possible (and valuable) to have such feature in future updates.
It may require to come up with a new magic scroll, spell and potions and gathering perhaps rare legendary ingredients from far away lands by the Edge Animate Wizards and Fairies, but I know it can be accomplished... if you don't believe look at the first iteration of Edge and look at it now! I rest my case

When I am editing my drawing, I double click on the dimension and get the diag box and unfortunately the rotate dimension command along with the degree box is grayed out.
Having solved my problem of printing multiple copies, I now canot print at all. Page setup and print command are grayed out. Printer works in light room and pages. OS xLion epson R3000 Elements 11 Trial version.

That was when I found out Import was grayed out. Why would that be? I just installed the program and this happens! Is there a setting I need to change?

Even starting a new project the load family dialog box does not appear. "Can't draw because Work Plane is at a very sharp angle in this view. Go to another view or redefine the Work Plane."
I have several window types in my project. Let's say that the window is 3'-0" wide by 4'-8" high - Mark #1. I want to group three of these windows and schedule the group as Mark #2 - not three separate #1 windows. View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a grab bar family that I thought looked very good. But then I tried to place it on the toilet stall portion (I also downloaded stall partition families). When I tried to place the grab bar, it wouldn't place -- I believe because the grab bar is WALL BASED.
So now the question is how do I go about placing a grab bar (or anything else) that is not wall based so that I can use it with the stall portion? I had tried to use face based but couldn't get that too work.

Recently, My revit does not load families. The process I use is the following:
In the Build area of the home ribbon, I select the Component button. I going to the Place component ribbon. When I select Load Family form the Mode portion of the ribbon, the properties box pops up. It is locked at this point and I cannot do anything but hit escape. The program functions just fine in all other aspects. I have used a vanilla project to see if the project I am working on is corrupted and I get the same results.
I am trying to create a custom planter based off some line work that I did in my project. It has a curve. basically what I have done is created the line work on plan but now I want to use that curved line to create my family. which I am thinking I can create a profile and then sweep it on those lines. The problem is I can get the line work to the family.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to edit the keynote family with no luck. We are updating our standards and getting into using the keynote system in revit. I have added the correct keynote to most of our standard materials and its working great. I then opened the keynote family and changed the justification of the text to justify the way we do notes. I also changed the line style of the leader lines so it matches our other notes.
All went well. I get stuck when I try to change the gap between the leader tail and the text. I can't find anywhere to actually edit the line/arrow in the family that would let me change how that works. If you see my attached image the one on the top is our standard note and the other two are the keynote family.
How to set / change that gap?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI know I must just be missing this somewhere, but I would like to shut off the geometry inside a family that's associated with a specific parameter. This is while I'm editing the family.
Specifically, the family I'm creating is for an appliance that has the option of an arched, or rectangular opening. Once I associate the geometry for the arched opening with a parameter, I'd like to shut that off, so that I can create the rectangular opening. Similar to how the family behaves once it's brought into a project.
Right now, I'm just kind of using the temporary hide functionality to shut them off, but if I turn them on, then have to go back to make edits, I have to select the individual geometry all over again to hide it. I've also noticed that some geometry, even when hidden, can still be selected.
