Revit :: Hide Content Behind Section Tag
Apr 27, 2011When I add a section tag to a dense area of an elevation, the detail number and sheet number often get lost in the clutter. How can I hide the content behind the callout head?

One of my draftsman is trying to put an identification Tag on one of our assembly. We made a symbol with our tag, and we put it on whatever where trying to identify directly on the presentation.
Our problem is that where not able to remove whatever is behind that symbol so that we can make that Tag readable. Is it possible to make only part of a line invisible in our presentation?
I have a cylindrical shaft passing through a bearing. I have a section view showing a cut-away of half of the shaft and bearing. Automated hatching results. I bring the bearing out of the section view (Rclick > Section Participation > None), and the hatching of the shaft remains visible, through the bearing. An image of this is shown below:
I would like to hide that hatching that shows through the bearing, so that it looks like the image below:
How can this be done?
I can't sem to get a Half Section View through extruded Content Center parts such as channels, pipes etc.?

Is it possible to hide this in the project by any way?
I am using Revit 2013 student version. I have successfully attached a decal on one of my walls and managed to show a realistic mode of the decal in my elevation. I would like to remove the decal lines (rectangle with x inside) but I am struggling to do this.
I have done some research on the web and so far, found out that I need to select the decal lines (or cross), right click and choose Override Graphics in View > By Element, and check Transparent. The problem is, my system does not display the option for Transparent; I am only given the boxes for Visible and Half-tone.
Is there a way to hide the lines between areas created via the split face tool? If not, my end goal is to have an area on a surface appear a different color than the surrounding area, with no lines between. The surface is the face of an extrusion in an in-place family.

I am trying to add a frame to some pictures, but when trying to apply a frame from the content section, the frame goes on top of any picture...and not directly on to the picture.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working with another company and we need to exchange Revit data. The issue is that my boss wants to secure our data set so the other company cannot "steal" the user families and 3d geometry created by us. It is my understanding that all I need to do is place the geometry I want to protect in a work group that is not editable.
Is it really that simple? Are there any "back doors" I need to worry about?
Is it possible to have a break in the 3D Section Box View (axonometric view)? Such as a jog in the section box to follow the building??

Successfully show material cut pattern on a stair in section?
In the attached i have the new "Component" stair next to the old style "By Sketch" stair, the sketch stair shows the cut pattern the component one does not, this is the same section view not two sections.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe as a company have just made the step towards Revit and I have been given the task to start using it and getting things to be presented as our company standards.
I have took a bit of time to create our section markers. They all seemed to work great and ticked them as complete off my list till I tested them and realised they are numbered. Is there a way I can get my section to be alphabetical e.g. section A-A, B-B etc.
I've got a model and i created a new level as normal, propogated extents etc but when i created as section North to South (Vertical) in the model the level does not show. When i create a section from East to west (horizontal) then the level appears fine. I've tried creating many sections and this is always the case. If i select a level in the section and click on select all instances in entire project the number includes the additional level but i can't see it. It is not hidden in the view, not on a different workset or anything unusual...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI received a Revit file from a client. What may have been purged from the file. When I try to cut a section, I am presented with the choice of a Building Section or a Detail Section. The Wall Section is not available.

I was wondering if there is possibly a way to create, modify, or edit the section tags in Revit. I've tried going through Properties> Edit Type to change the size, and type of the tag (or the section head), but i notice there are only seven options, and no way to change the size of them. Is there a Family Type I can edit? Where would I find it? Is there a way to create my own, perhaps, and upload it into my model template?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have sections cut from floor plan that show up on my exterior elevations. I am able to stretch the tag ends using the blue dots. I also have placed section marks on the elevations that reference other section views. With those tags I am unable to stretch them up and down on the elevation views. When I try, they disappear. I am not stretching them outside of the annotation crop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a kitchen counter in Revit 2011 however, when I try to create a section it does not show what a section should show such as the shelves that are inside the cabinet. It just basically shows what an elevation would show. I checked all my settings and everything is good. What could be the problem? I created another family as well and when I do a section it shows what should be seen in a section. The same thing happens when I put the counter into a project. The section does not show correctly as well as the wireframe visual style does not show in plan view. It show as if it were in hidden line.

In the attached screenshot, the columns appear in the section while they are hidden in the plan!
What might be the issue here? why the cross section includes the columns?
Reveal Hidden Elements does not reveal a section I hid by element in a view. Other section flags in view acting normally. Hidden flag visible in other views. Properties of hidden flag appear to be same as others.
