Revit :: Creating Family From Project?
Jun 10, 2013I am trying to create a custom planter based off some line work that I did in my project. It has a curve. basically what I have done is created the line work on plan but now I want to use that curved line to create my family. which I am thinking I can create a profile and then sweep it on those lines. The problem is I can get the line work to the family.

Aug 8, 2012I am currently looking at writing a function to create our folder structure within the Plant 3D project.
I have looked at the PnPProjectFolder object but am unable to determine how to create a new project folder.
I do not understand how I obtain a folderGUID or the best way to discover if the folder exists. (I can loop through the ProjectItems collection).
We need to add 30 folders, including sub-folders, setting their paths as we are not using virtual folders.
I am not at a stage where I have any code worth publishing here.
VideoStudio :: Creating / Saving A Project At Greater Than 30fps
Mar 25, 2012I am trying to output a project at higher than 30fps and I am failing miserably. My camera can create 1080 mp4 files at 30fps or 720 mp4 files at 30 or 60fps. I want to creat a video using 720 at 60fps (or near to it).
If I load a 60fps clip and play the clip it runs at the original frame rate. If I play the project however, it plays at 25fps. I have tried to change the project properties, but I cannot select anything higher than 25fps in mpg (or 30fps in avi). Likewise, when I create a video file I am stuck at the lower frame rate. Although I am happy with the 1080X30fps clips and projects; it defeats the object of having a faster camera.

I have files shot on Canon C300 in 16:9, but we had the 1:1.85 aspect lines on the camera and I can't figure out how to incorporate those frame lines for editing.
Is the best way to do it when creating the project? Or is the best way to edit the files in 16:9 and mask the final product?

Feb 15, 2011I was trying to rotate the entire model to align with the grid of another building. I need to do that in order to export to Navisworks easily without any adjustment.
After I select the entire model in 3d view, and going back to the plan view, the rotate tool is ghosted. What's the reason of it? See attached file.

Revit :: Placing View From One Project Into Another
May 16, 2012Quite simple what I want to acheive in ACA but not in revit. I want a line elevation view from file A (with shadows if possible) to insert into another file (B) sheet (so it shows another option variant without the complexity of setting up phases to show that option in file B. I can insert from file a render - managed that successfully but I dont want full renders as the the recipient (a planning authority) will plot from a pdf non-colour.
Is there any way of rendering so that the result is mostly line with a bit of half tone? I do elevations within a project this way by setting up a 3D aligned to elevation then sort out what I want shaded / colour / line by graphic overrrides.

Jul 20, 2012I am currently working with a point cloud inside of revit. But, The point cloud comes into revit in a geospatialy correct position. Therefore, it is skewed and not near the origin where you would normally model in revit. I need to be able to rotate my project without actually changing the position of my objects.
I use CAD alot as well so the best way to describe this would be, in CAD, being able to set your UCS to an object, and then later on reseting your UCS to world.
The main purpose of all this is to be able to bring my floor plan into a sheet without it being rotated to the same orientation as the Pointcloud.

I am trying to find any information on using my chapter or encore markers in a sequence to create multiple videos using the markers and doing this in Media Encoder. It is a music video I want to split into 22 separate videos based on the start point for each song. It is such a natural thing to want to do this that I would at least have expected to see a comment to the contrary if it is not capable of being done in the manner I am suggesting. I would expect to be able to do a dynamic link to the sequence and be able to split the file in a fashion similar to Encore which imports the sequence as a series of chapter points I then use to create my DVD.

May 17, 2012Is it possible to add parameters to the project information list? For example I am using the project address parameter in my sheet borders for the full street address of a project. However on the cover sheet the project address is listed as ciry and state only. I know how to create a label parameter for the address on the cover sheet, but I would like to add that label to the project information family to keep all of that information in one place.

Following the instructions under Creating a Project Parameter in WikiHelp for Revit 2013, I created a Project Parameter called "Equipment ID" (common, text, text) in Manage> Settings > Project Parameters. In the process I clicked the Modify button and assigned it to all Categories by checking all boxes. However, when I opened the family editor for a piece of electrical equipment, selected an element (an extrusion), and then went into the Family Types dialog and clicked Add Parameter, it did not give me the option of adding Project Parameters, only Shared Parameters.
WikiHelp, under "Project Parameters", states "Project parameters are parameters you define and then add to multiple categories of elements in a project", but does not say how to "add" them to the element and doesn't direct me to another section that dose.
Revit :: Unable To Hide Void In Project
Nov 7, 2012I am having problems with void that i cant hide in my project. The void is inside my generic family but wont apply a cut unless i apply a length parameter to it. The problem i that in my project it seems to be visible as a yellow box that will also appear when printed.
Is it possible to hide this in the project by any way?
