Dec 21, 2012I'm now working on my diploma work and I need to model a gridshell construction in Conceptual mass.I created the form and made adaptive component -a glass panel.I uploaded it in the family and now I need to load that family into the project space and I don't know what to do..I will have to remove the mass eventually before rendering but then the gridshell structure will disappear.I don't know how to make it real,I cannot use massing and site with this, I'm obviously missing some steps and i don't know which ones..

Sep 14, 2011i use conceptual in my viewports to give a rough 3D of what i am drawing. some settings have changed that i am not familiar with i would like to restore them to the original settings. the following pics show the difference. Im Not talking about the back ground.

AutoCad 3D :: Conceptual View With Hidden Edges
May 18, 2012I am having issues with 3D Realistic/Conceptual Views in model space. Basically I will be working on a drawing and everything works fine when I switch to 3D realistic & conceptual modes and orbit - view looks perfect. Then a few days or maybe 10 minute later I do it again and the hidden edges suddenly are visible through 3D solids & the view looks awful. I have attached a screenshot of this issue and from reading a number of forums it appears that I am not alone in experiencing this, however I have not found a resolution. I am concerned that it could be my Graphics card but given that it is an nVidia Quadro FX3800 that is supposedly designed for ACAD I would be pretty upset! URL....
On the left is the problem in realistic view - on the right I have copied this into another file and on some drawings this fixes the issue - on some others I have to delete some background floorplans. It might be linked to the size of the drawings - I work on airport terminals so my drawings have floorplans of hundreds of meters...
AutoCAD 2010 :: Transparency In Conceptual Style
Jul 23, 2013I'm having a drawing (check in attachment), I change the transparency with different values and I can see the changes I made just in 2D Wire frame Style, when I change in conceptual style it's appear as the transparency value from the layer dialog box is 0, for all values that I modify I don't see no changes.
The transparency button is active. One sample from the drawing is in attachment.
AutoCad 3D :: 3D Intersecting Surfaces Display - Conceptual View
Jan 3, 2013Using Conceptual View, I have hanger plates that intersect an arch, and previously where they intersect you couldn't see inside the arch just the surface. Since saving as another drawing to add hangers details something has changed in the display and the arch appears transparent at the moment so you cant see where along the plates the arch intersects.
Unless you zoom right into the intersection, the surfaces appear and zoom out and it goes transparent again.

The 1st image below was taken from the print preview and shows a Conceptual & Hidden view. Why they come out blocky?
The 2nd image was taken from a screen shot which looks ok.
The 3rd image shows my print settings which created the print preview.
I have tried reducing the quality in the shaded viewport options section but it doesn’t really work.

Feb 14, 2011I did a scene with a 25x15ft room lit with two windows on the south end. anyway, there's a big difference when i set FG Falloff distance to be say start: 0.0 stop: 200ft or 400ft vs. not using fall off.
it also changes the values on my light meter.i'm guessing here that use of falloff is not going to give real world results for lighting analysis but haven't read anything (that i have found so far).

Sep 17, 2013I recently switched from Photoshop CS6 to Photoshop Creative Cloud. Whereas in the CS6 version, I could not count the number of pixels in a selection (I was not using the Extended version), I was happy to read that this split was removed and this function is available in Photoshop CC. Or, should be available. As it happens, when I go to Image -> Analysis, all options (except for Ruler Tool) are greyed out. This is the case when no document is opened, when a document with multiple layers is opened, or when a simple single-layer document is opened. The software is up to date (accoding to the Application Manager).
Can it be a limitation of the 32-bits version, and should I switch to a 64-bit version?

Jan 21, 2013I am trying to find a software package that would allow me to model lightweight steel structures; agricultural style barns (up to 60x100) constructed of bar trusses and columns. I can do hand analysis, but for multiple buildings per month, it would be too time consuming. I prefer something more user friendly than finite element analysis, that would produce a quality analysis report.
I have read some through the Revit summary, but it focuses more on the maximum potential of the program and doesn't describe the minimum level it will perform at; I will never be designing a multi - story steel stadium or warehouse or office park, etc.
