I am having issues with 3D Realistic/Conceptual Views in model space. Basically I will be working on a drawing and everything works fine when I switch to 3D realistic & conceptual modes and orbit - view looks perfect. Then a few days or maybe 10 minute later I do it again and the hidden edges suddenly are visible through 3D solids & the view looks awful. I have attached a screenshot of this issue and from reading a number of forums it appears that I am not alone in experiencing this, however I have not found a resolution. I am concerned that it could be my Graphics card but given that it is an nVidia Quadro FX3800 that is supposedly designed for ACAD I would be pretty upset! URL....
On the left is the problem in realistic view - on the right I have copied this into another file and on some drawings this fixes the issue - on some others I have to delete some background floorplans. It might be linked to the size of the drawings - I work on airport terminals so my drawings have floorplans of hundreds of meters...
I typically use the conceptual view when I'm modeling and it usually looks like the view on the right. What setting I may have accidentally changed to cause it to look like the view on the left?
Using Conceptual View, I have hanger plates that intersect an arch, and previously where they intersect you couldn't see inside the arch just the surface. Since saving as another drawing to add hangers details something has changed in the display and the arch appears transparent at the moment so you cant see where along the plates the arch intersects.
Unless you zoom right into the intersection, the surfaces appear and zoom out and it goes transparent again.
I made a drawing, but after using ilogic (ilogic is in drawing, assembly, part) in it, drawing view of a particular part is coming in hidden line, other are shaded as u can see in image.
Drawing view is associative, all edges shown, level of detail is master, view style is Hidden Line Removal with Shaded
Computer Config:
Inventor 2013 Intel Xeon CPU 2.67 GHZ 8 Gb ram Windows 7 64 bit
I am getting display of hidden edges (in fuzzy grey with shadows, like wireframe with hidden edges) while using shaded with Edges. At first they don't display, but when I pan zoom orbit, they show up to stay. When I switch to shaded with hidded edges, the same edges turn blue. When I switch to shaded, they completely disappear. So it's the Shaded with edges view that has this problem. I have also noticed it to be random files or some unknown commonality. Files were created using Inventor 2013. I'm not running Express mode, which is much fuzzier.
I did not see this during beta testing. I have a Radeon HD 5990 (2GB) - running like a champ, Intel I7- 930, and 12GB ram running Windows 7 (ultimate) 64bit. Inventor 2013, and 2014 are both installed.
Having an issue where in a part model with the view set to "wireframe with hidden edges" the edges and hidden edges disappear when you try to zoom in on the part. Actually not working with "wireframe and visible edges only" at any zoom level either.
The edges are there and I know that there are features that should be showing up as hidden.
Running Quadro FX 3800 with the most current drivers, and I only noticed this when switching to IV 2014.
Also running IV Build 222 SP 1
This is making designing very hard as I can't tell anymore where there are instances of features interfering with each other.

Is it possible to show hidden lines in one part of a .idw view while the rest of the view does not show hidden lines? In the attached image I want to show the pull handle and towel bar through the glass in the door. The only way I know how to show this currently is to turn off the visibility on the glass.

When I create a section view in the idw, hidden lines are visible in the cutting part ! How disable these hidden lines and show only the hidden features ?
In solidworks there's a "hidden line" option that displays a 3d part with all its sketch lines (instead of a regular solid) which allows the user to view all the different sides of the part easily. So I was wondering if there's such an option in autodesk inventor 2013. Currently, to view all the different sides and aspects of a part easily, i have been changing the part's material to polycarbone or some other plastic material; this makes the part a little translucent. But this is less effective than the hidden line vew availble in solidworks. method that makes different parts of a 3d part more easily to be viewed?
I am working on a project to assign balloons to components in drawing view automatically. Of course, I don't want to assign a balloon to a component which is invisible (hidden) in this drawing view.
So, is there any API function to check whether the component in the drawing view is invisible or hidden?
Is there a way of using Ilogic to make hidden lines of specific parts in an assembly drawing view visible? If a part with hidden lines showing is suppressed and then unsuppressed the hidden line option becomes unchecked, therefore I need a way of rechecking this option through code?
Can this be done? I want to go through the DrawingView Object to get at a subcomponent of an assembly and either set that component to have hidden lines (where needed) or no hidden lines.
I'm discovering clip view more and more recently and noticed that when you convert a clip view to editable shapes, the clipped shapes are trimmed inside the line width, very clever.
I used to intersect shapes to perform this kind of action but this method is superior as is involve much less fiddling with stacking and does not cut in the middle of the line.
I am trying to decipher an image (it's for an online game and I refuse to cheat for the answer!!)
I have a .psd image, that I have opened into layers - see the attached screenshot... It makes far more sense than the long-winded paragraph I just deleted!! All other layers were easy to deal with I just had to click on the eye to make them visible, but the one with the dotted box around it - I can't work out what to do..
So for this troublesome layer, I need to work out how to 'see' whatever is hiding in there. I have played around with lots of things, but the best I get is a white box if I remove the alpha channel.
I don't want to know what the other letters are, just how to find them.
The original image is here, it will prompt to open or save: [URL] .......
Is there any way to have Tangent Edges to show within all view's created on my idw automatically within the my template file or do I have to remember to double click on each of my created views per page, select display options and make sure Tangent Edges are checked on.

In 2008, never had this issue.Just dumb, circles, and lines in a view port, that have hidden or center linetyoes assigned to them. When we go to plot using legacy hidden (this new for 2012?) the plot comes out with continuous lines. These are not solids. Just ordinary line entities. Now, when I change the shadeplot to "hidden" the linetype is shown correctly, but now my entities are coloured, when I just want my drawing to be black and white (going to PDF), even though all of the colours in the pen style are set to "Black".
Has this changed? Is there a new variable introduced?
I'm drawing objects (walls, platforms, etc.) in 3d made up primarily of extruded polygons. I want to be able to plot these objects in a way that hides all of the lines which are obscured by other objects. Currently I have my viewports set up with a 2D Wireframe visual style and a Hidden shade plot. This isn't working for me. I'm still getting all of the lines in the drawing visible no matter what.
Here's the strange thing: It seems to work perfectly fine in plan view, but not in front view. Also, it's worked fine in the past. It seems that the problem has gotten progressively worse over the past year or so.
i use conceptual in my viewports to give a rough 3D of what i am drawing. some settings have changed that i am not familiar with i would like to restore them to the original settings. the following pics show the difference. Im Not talking about the back ground.
The pic with the black backgroud is not how i like the settings to be. they seem too bright and its kind of glowing.New Settings.jpg...The pic with the white background is what im looking for. the items seem to be a flatter finish to them. If all this makes sense how do i change it back?
I'm having a drawing (check in attachment), I change the transparency with different values and I can see the changes I made just in 2D Wire frame Style, when I change in conceptual style it's appear as the transparency value from the layer dialog box is 0, for all values that I modify I don't see no changes.
The transparency button is active. One sample from the drawing is in attachment.
I wanted to public this design to Google Earth, but some how the model is flat wiith existing ground. I did choose "Drape entities on ground" and also tried "elevation relative to ground" it is sitll a flat model.
