View 1 Replies View RelatedI have managed to perform a stress analysis on a part (which only 1/4 of it is shown due to its symmetry). Upon running the simulation and displaying the results for Von Mises Stress, all the part has been fully colored in blue, and there are no signs of any red areas. However, the bar line on the left still indicates that there are areas which are highly stressed. I'm now confused weather if there any areas of the part are exhbiting this type of stress, and if yes, how can I locate the most highly stressed parts?

I'm trying to set the scale measurement; i have the scale icon and it works, but i need to go into the Analysis menu to set the scale - and it's not there! Can't find it, or any reference to this (only to the 3D menu being missing, which is usually they don't have Extended).
Running Windows 7 pro on a Radeon HD6850 graphics card, i have "use graphics processor" selected in the preferences menu.
I recently switched from Photoshop CS6 to Photoshop Creative Cloud. Whereas in the CS6 version, I could not count the number of pixels in a selection (I was not using the Extended version), I was happy to read that this split was removed and this function is available in Photoshop CC. Or, should be available. As it happens, when I go to Image -> Analysis, all options (except for Ruler Tool) are greyed out. This is the case when no document is opened, when a document with multiple layers is opened, or when a simple single-layer document is opened. The software is up to date (accoding to the Application Manager).
Can it be a limitation of the 32-bits version, and should I switch to a 64-bit version?

The standard way to remove noise, i.e. background spots, is do spectrum analysis and remove those high-frenquency signal. Is photoshop image-> adjustment -> level a frequency analysis?
The Add People feature has stopped working in Elements 11. I just get the message "no new people found in your selection". Yet, when i open a picture there will be faces that are marked in the photo awaiting tagging. I have thousands of photos and having to open each one individually just to tag faces is not why i purchased this software. It worked well in version 10 and was much better in 11 until it stopped working.
It worked great until about 3 weeks ago. I have not changed any settings on my end. I have followed the directions on the following threads:

I have reset to default settings I renamed the psa.prf, status.dat and the peoplestatus.dat files. Neither of those have worked. Short of uninstalling and re-installing i am at my wits end.
I'm trying to use the Image Analysis functionality of PS CS6 to obtain brightness levels from an image.
To test the "Gray Value" measurment, I've created 11 patches from 0%-100% in 10% increments. I used the fill tool (Shift-F5) and specified values using H=0, S=0, B=<percentage_value (0-100)>.
The respective RGB components of the generated patches are exactly as expected (255*percentage_value).
The measurements obtained through "Record Measurement", however, do not agree, with the exception of the 0% and 100% extremes, which are reported with 0 and 255, respectively.
Inbetween, there is disagreement which rises from 0 @ 0% to the highest (5 @ 50%) to then decrease again to 0 @ 100%.
Here is the series by which the reported Gray Values are too low (from 0% - 100%): 0, 3, 3, 4 4, 5, 3, 3, 2, 1, 0.
How come?
I've tried removing colour profiles (to exclude gamma encoding issues) and using different colour spaces and/or models, with no change in behaviour.
All my patches are pure gray so there shouldn't be any problem with unexpected colour weighting.
One funny observation I've made is that even though the patches are a 100% homogenous, PS reports different miminum and maximum values. For instance for the 50% brightness patch (RGB triples of 128, 128, 128), the report is MinVal=123, MaxVal=124, MeanVal=123.934809.
Clearly, the value for all three aspects should be the same, and I expect the value to be 128.
I'm using PS CS6, Version: 13.0.1 (13.0.1 20120808.r.519 2012/08/08:21:00:00) x32, on Win 7.
I just loaded Elements 11 onto my windows 11 laptop and imported about 15,000 photos. I was really looking forward to using the face recognition for tagging the photos but it does not seem to work. When I click "Mark Face" it always says people analysis is yet to be run and when I click yes to run it, nothing happens. Same thing when I click "Add People+", it just flashing something quickly on the screen and then nothing happens. I have "People Recognition" checked in the view screen and "Analyze Photos for people" checked in my preferences.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI did a scene with a 25x15ft room lit with two windows on the south end. anyway, there's a big difference when i set FG Falloff distance to be say start: 0.0 stop: 200ft or 400ft vs. not using fall off.
it also changes the values on my light meter.i'm guessing here that use of falloff is not going to give real world results for lighting analysis but haven't read anything (that i have found so far).
Is the general consensus that MR Sky Portals should be used when performing Lighting Analysis?

I can do hand analysis, but for multiple buildings per month, it would be too time consuming. I prefer something more user friendly than finite element analysis, that would produce a quality analysis report.
I have read some through the Revit summary, but it focuses more on the maximum potential of the program and doesn't describe the minimum level it will perform at; I will never be designing a multi - story steel stadium or warehouse or office park, etc.

I have created a report from a frame analysis of an arrangement of I-Beam steelwork. I need to check that I have placed the nodes in the right order and this is reflected in the results of the report. I have the parent and child nodes connected at the ends of the beams as shown on the attached screen shot. I'm interested to know if the order in which I have selected the nods makes any difference to the results. There a 3 node connection points at each corner section.

We are in the middle of a few projects using BOSS's RiverCAD but with the new 2014 License files we can no longer use the AutoCAD 2010 that ran with RiverCAD.
So, I'm scrambling to get my user up and running with River Analysis and how (if possible) to port our RiverCAD projects to River Analysis with as little pain as possible.
I have to admit, I don't use RiverCAD and have not yet installed IDSU 2014. (I'm making the deployment now).
I'd really like to ditch having to support AutoCAD 2010 and RiverCAD....

I have been asked by a collegue if Map 3d will perform Network route Analysis and produce a model of the results.That is using defigned roads, footpaths etc find the shortest route from A to B.
As I'm only just getting into Map3D I couldn't answer this one. How you perform the analysis, a tutorial or example if avaliable.
I'm currently running Civil3D 2012 which should have the same functionality as Map3D 2012.

I have purchased the Autodesk Product Design Suite Premium. It comes with the Frame Generator but does not seem to have the Frame Analysis with it. Is that provided in other Suites or should I have it??

I have an 8" OD/5.523" ID steel tube. A 5.5" OD/4.957"ID tube is placed inside. The 8" and 5.5" tubes are placed over a 4.9375"OD shaft. So basically you have a hollow shaft attached to a drive shaft, with a filler tube placed between them to fill the gap. Two 1-1/2" UNC bolts are placed in matching1.531" diameter holes in every component (thru bolted) with a nut. Tightening the nut will tend to flatten the pipes, taking up the clearance between then and creating a contact pressure on the drive shaft. I have having trouble getting all of the contacts correct since the components are not in contact at the beginning of the simulation due to the radial clearances.
Two axial bolt loads of 129,000 lbs will be placed on the tubes. I have used a sliding/no separation contact between the bolt and nut. Then I put a fixed constraint on the bottom face of the nut (not in contact with the tube) and put a 129,000 force on the top of each bolt head to simulate the axial load created by the bolt preload. What type of contact should I use between the tubes that have radial clearance?
I have attached the tubes and drive shaft. The 1-1/2" bolts and nuts (both heavy hex) were found in the library.

I have a large 200+ acre site that I have created a volume surface and analyzed it using the elevation banding with color to show different levels of cut and fill. The owner has broken this area into 10 different irregular zones. Is there a way to do the elevation banding of a volume surface and have it color the individual parcels. They don't all have to be at once. I can do each one at a time and PDF the drawing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to properly stress test a steel aircraft fuselage. I can easily model the estimated weight of the pilot, copilot, etc as loads on the airframe. However, when it comes to simulating a high-G situation, (a load factor of around 7.5 times the force of gravity), I am not sure what to do. On one hand, I can simply multiply the loads on the airframe by the load factor and see if the frame can take it. In most cases, it performs very poorly, (safety factor less than 1). However, if I model all the loads under normal conditions, (normal pilot weight, etc.), then add a gravity load equal to 7.5 G, the airframe performs well. Yet I am not sure if the loads on the airframe, (such as pilot weight), are being adjusted along with the increased gravitational load.
My question is, what is the best way to accurately simulate real world loading for high-G situations?
I am doing an eigen frequency analysis of a structure in the range of 0 to 1500 Hz. For my structure I am getting about 6 modes as expected.
For the final results I will mass normalize to convert to an energy based on the relative "displacements" However, each of the "displacements" for the 6 eigenfrequencies are the same?
I know this can not be right as it would mean that all have the same energy which is impossible.
how do I use Civil 3D to do basic pipe analysis computations? For example, I give it the slope, material, etc. and it spits out the flow velocity, flow depth, slope min, etc.
All I want for now is a basic tool for sizing pipes without all the bells, loops & whistles. I can learn the fancy pipe networking stuff later.
