Out side door pull will not stay in place in project view when family is loaded into wall thickness narrower than that used in family detail.
In family editor have tried pinning the pull and pinning its dimension. Cannot lock the dimension due to constraint error. Pull is dimensioned to ref plane at center of glass door. (Door is sliding glass adjacent to stationary glass panels.)
I recently wrote a small tidbit to export all parametric userparameters in a document.What I need to do is modify it to include Dimensional Contraint information as well.

I've been trying to construct a wal with the start leve being the ground floor and the finishing Level being First floor level. every time i try to do this tho i get this message occur
"Top Constraint is invalid for the Level."
is it possible to have a dimension style setup that shows the dimension text inline with the dimension - without having to move it?I have been looking but cannot seem to do it - is it possible and I am just missing it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Inventor 2011 and previous, one could detect assembly constraint errors by taking a component that was not fully constrained and manipulating it via a mouse click and drag. This would launch a dialogue box listing all the constraints that are having problems and still allow you to accept the manual part manipulation.
However, I am now using Inventor 2013 and when I have constraint errors, I cannot manually manipulate non-fully constrained objects and do not get that overall constraint error dialogue box. Is there a setting to turn this back on?
I gues this is another bug by Autodesk that is comming up in my stress analysis. Basically all work I have done is gone. The frame won't appear and get big "NOT AVAILIBLE" on my screen. There is no way to fix it because there is no red cross highlighted
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having performance problems with constraining a FG assembly. I have a simple frame, (cube form). When I am trying to constrain some brakets to the frame (or anything else) and click apply, Inventor freezes and I have to wait about 2 mins.

I can't seem to find any sloping reference plane I have inserted as a Top Constraint for a wall I want to draw under it. How to make that happen? The only Constraints visible are Levels and Levels only appear to allow themselves to be draw exactly horizontally.

I have successfully created a Shear wall Family for the core of a building I am modeling.
I've stacked one on top of another and linked it as a project file with a Global "Room Bounding" checked into the main Project File . Geometrically it all works perfectly and even looks right with a concrete fill linestyle. But sadly the instance doesn't appear to realize that it is meant to act like a wall when it comes to adding rooms!
Is it possible Apply on the lock file Not open to other systems?

Is there a global way to perform this task instead of the current copy/paste/paste/paste method I am doing. I thought about exporting to a catalog and modifying the text file in Excel, but I lose my formula when I do that.
If this isn't possible, this would be a good wishlist item, Autodesk - where a family has global parameters that are consistent throughout the family, regardless of type.
I am trying to lock a reference plane to a wall location. Is this possible? I want to move the reference plane and the wall follow. I keep having people who want to make the building bigger.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have set up Revit 2013 and it works fine for creating folders and subfolders. I followed the Autodesk process step by step on creating a new file in the revit server. Everything is fine, but when I hit save an error message appears saying that the file cannot be saved. When I log into revitserver i see the new file, but I cannot delete, lock it, or use it at all.
How we can lock the files to be able to delete from the revit server?
As a side note:
Unless Autodesk is planning on getting rid of revit server they should really invest into the documentation and troubleshooting.
I had this working just fine, then made some changes (including deleting some reference planes) and now I can't get it to work. I need to lock a diagonal reference plane to the intersection of 2 orthogonal reference planes, so that my door (on an angle) will slide toward the fixed corner, instead of the corner moving toward the door. It must be something simple I did the first time that I'm just not thinking of this time around...

It is designed such that once inserted, the user can drag the outlet symbol and outlet to the right or left and also move the outlet symbol away from the wall plane to permit symbol stacking in plan. Most of the time this works but on some families, though seeming constructed in the same manner, the link between the receptacle and the controlling plane gets broken. The link to the outlet annotation family always stays connected.
I've attached a Revit project contain two families, one that works and one that does not.
I am designing a vertical axis wind turbine just for some practice (just started using Inventor) and everything was going smoothly until I tried to "animate" it spinning. First, I set up a work plane that goes through the center of the structure, and then I clicked angle constraint "explicit reference vector." After watching several youtube videos, I figured that I should click on the work plane, click on another reference point, and then click another point that would be orthogonal to those two (right?). Well after I choose the first point, Inventor will only allow me to choose the center axis as the second option (which I think should be the third option).

I'm designing a piece of furniture in Rhino using Grasshopper. I would like to create my measured drawings of this piece in Revit (as a way of learning the software). I have linked the 5 components of the piece to my Revit project file (as SAT files but I could export them as something else if that would work). All I want to do is create a single sheet showing 1 plan view, 2 elevations, 1 section and an exploded axon. However, I cannot seem to dimension the components. I need overall dimensions as well as the size of radii at curved corners in elevation and filleted corners in plan, and also thickness of the material used.
Is there something I need to do to get the dimensions to 'see' this set of objects?
I'm using BIMLink to adjust parameters in a model... If a dimension ends up being zero, is there a way for me to have conditional formatting to turn off visibility of a dimension with a zero value?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to dimension between the face of a wall and non parallel wall opposite it. The non parallel wall turns a 90 degree corner, and it is at this corner that I want to measure perpendicular to my first wall.
1. Is there a way to dimension between non-parallel walls? When you place the dimension you click on the wall at the location you want to dimension, so I don't see why Revit can't place the dimension at that point. That dimension would be particular to that one point along the non-parallel wall.
2. I got around this by placing a reference plane and dimensioning to that, but I'd rather not do this because then if I hide the reference plane, my dimension disappears.
Is there another work around or am I missing a tool I don't know about?
I'm using a couple of masked regions to form symbol linework (so that it obscures background and shadows) in section.
In my screen family, I have a masked region that in theory could end up having a 0mm length - that obviously throws out errors.
The following screen grab shows the regions (at screen soffits) that are set to lock to the frame face and external wall face. Trouble is I have an instance parameter to allow the screen to fill the whole wall thickness (which also then toggles on architraves). This results in the 0mm. I have therefore done a slight 2mm overlap to avoid the issue, but this leaves a residual ovelap in the linework that looks ugly.
Setting the masked region to simply not display doesn't avoid the problem, Revit still 'sees' the errant 0mm.
Is there a way of having this masked region working in both options (ie when needed - locked to ref planes) and then not producing the error when the frame and wall are coplanar ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have one project were we can't add new witness lines to a dimension. We've checked it being pinned, Workset, etc. and can't find a reason for this. If you select Edit Witness Line, hovering over a most objects (including grid lines) won't highline them.
