Im using revit 2012.
I have an 11 floor building I wish to create a gross area schedule for. I have made all the area plans, and they all show up under the Gross Building Area Plans. But when i go to create a Gross Building Area Schedule it only lists 7 of the floors. (Leaves out sub base - Lvl2 and gives Lvl3-penthouse)
How do I get Revit to schedule the gross exterior wall area? An isolated wall will schedule OK, but once you join it to another at a corner, the reported wall area doesn't match the exterior wall area.

Is there a way of just going about it the old AutoCAD way via a P-Line? I know there are no P-Lines in Revit, but is there an easy way of doing this?
Is there a way to report the total internal area for a building ? As in - the total area of a building up to the internal face of the external wall (including all internal partitions and walls).
We can use the Gross Building Area - but this includes the external walls - and doesn't update as the external wall envelope is added to. Ideally we would like a like reporting on the total internal area as the design / model is progressed.

View 8 Replies View RelatedAny good tips when it comes to calculating the area of a floor plan? You are supposed to start measuring from the outermost part of the walls, but when I do that I run into trouble with the porch on the bottom of the drawing and the room on top left.
The problems are basically that the porch is not supposed to be included in the total area, and in the room on the top I end up measuring a small area twice if I start my measuring from the outermost part of the walls. This is not very well explained but I've drawn two red lines on the drawing to try to show where the problem areas are.
When I am trying to calculate area, i got wrong answer. At very first i thought it calculates area with inches (iam in metric sys), but then i checked options and its answer should be in mm, but I am getting wrong answer. In my object (which is rectangular) there's many other things, like hatch, buildings and so on. Maybe this can abstract for direct answer, because when i draw just a simple square or rectangle.

I know how to calculate an individual window area by using 'area' or 'ls' command. But this is just partial drawing and the whole building has hundreds of windows and it will take forever to calculate one by one and add them together to get the total area. Is there any way to get the whole area easily?
windows are just rectangles (and solid hatch inside the rectangle).
Any quick way of calculating average Parcel Area? I used to export to LandXML and do an area report in CSV. That doesn't seem to be working for me when I export out of C3D 2012.
The workaround I found was to select all the parcels in Prospector, copy to clip board, paste in excel, find and replace "_Sq. Ft._" with 0, then do the average.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI imported a scanned drawing into Revit and traced it. I put the walls and floors in, then was inserting doors. I tried to find a particular door, but found I clicked on the wrong door and closed Revit instead of the screen I was in. However, when I brought Revit back up, I could no longer see any Floorplan, but my 3d was still visible. How do I retrieve or make visible Level 1 or 2? (When I tile the Floorplan Level 1 and the 3D drawing, my 3d drawing will turn blue if I box in the blank area on my Floorplan screen, so I assume it must still be there).
The other question I need answered is how to insert the geometric figure/camera that shows each side of an elevation? When I imported my scanned drawing, it was much larger than the area within the four “eyeballs”, but I have tried moving it and don’t see them.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I select all of my building pads and topo and move them vertically up or down by the SAME amount, the cut and fill volumes change. Apparently the cut/fill is being calculated relative to something that is NOT THE GRADED SURFACE. Maybe the Level line? I don't know. The volumes shouldn't change at all when I move both the topo and pads together! How can I trust these numbers?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a window family by modifying a pre-existing one. One of the things I need to do is to move the reference planes defining the "left" and "right" edges of the window opening, so as to make to opening wider, but I'm not allowed to do it. The reference planes always move together, so that I'm stuck with a 3'-0" wide opening no matter what I do. I can't find any constraints linking the reference planes to each other or to a 3'-0" dimension - I can't find any constraints on them at all, in fact.
The file in question is attached. As I mentioned, the reference planes I'm concerned about are called "left" and "right". I have been able to move other reference planes in the file.
I have made my sections cuts through the floor plans, but when I view them, the walls I have cut through are not poched in to show that there is a solid wall there.

Why Camera Views is different from all other views in Revit. It is simple not possible to add a view reference, or a tag etc. to reference to a camera view.
Of course I can put in a 'dead' symbol to show where it is in plans, but that's simply not the same...
In previous versions of Revit (pre 2013) when creating an area plan and inserting the area within the created boundaries, I could double click on the 'Area' tag and rename 'area' to something more descriptive which automatically changed the name in the legend to match.
In 2013 this is no longer possible.Even opening a 2012 project, where this procedure worked, once this project is saved in 2013 format it is no longer possible to double click to change - it opens the family tag instead.

I have been dealing with a tolerance issue when trying to create room area calculations in Revit. There seems to be a tolerance that is set to somewhere under 9" if two walls are to close together it will ignore the area.
Although if you are using the area calculation this tolerance is set much finer. and it seems to work just fine. I have already tried to create a multicategory schedule but cant combine rooms and areas. I have attached an image .
