Any quick way of calculating average Parcel Area? I used to export to LandXML and do an area report in CSV. That doesn't seem to be working for me when I export out of C3D 2012.
The workaround I found was to select all the parcels in Prospector, copy to clip board, paste in excel, find and replace "_Sq. Ft._" with 0, then do the average.
I have been able to undertake this with other software and have desperately tried to find this same function in Civil 3D .
Is there a command that returns the average level of any particular surface within a specified area, for instance if we have a generated a large surface and then draw a square in the middle of the surface, can it calculate the average level within the square only?
I have an acad document connected to some .shp files, which contain polygonal shapes with some meta-tags.
I want to achieve the following: draw a polygonal shape and select all the tangent areas (I already know how to do so)take a property of those areas and calculate an area-proportional [or: area weighted] average value (proportional to the partial area defined by the drawn polygonal shape). I tried to achieve this by splitting the objects and merging them again with defined splitting (area proportional) and merging (average) options. The problem is: splitting & merging doesn't work until I disconnect the data files (checking the objects out doesn't work) and even then I can't split the areas. And, more important: This doesn't create a weighted average and I don't even want to manipulate the objects! I just want to get one value out of all these steps.
I appended a screenshot of my file. E.g. I want to take the value 923.2 and multiply it with the corresponding area percentage it represents in the drawn shape. So the calculation would look something like 0.02*923.2 + 0.2*926 + 0.12*945,9 [...] until all the 100% are covered and I get one single representative value.
I use AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 on an Intel Core i7, 12GB RAM, 64bit Win 7 Pro SP 1 PC.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am new to C3D and I have been going through all of the tutorials and learning everything I can from the given data, which has been amazingly useful. Everything has been running spot on except today when I was going throughtthe parcels tutorial, I applied Parcel Number and Area to a group of parcels I created via the tutorial dwg file "Parcle-1A". Everything displays correctly except the Area is not shown as it does in the sample pic. I have applied the "Parcel Number And Area" to the Area Label Style, but it still does not display the area. Only the Parcel Number. Is there some part of this process that I am overlooking? The tutorial dwg file is called "Parcel-1A". It was too large to attach, but you can find all of the tutorial dwg files via the Help Menu. It depends on your OS to where they are located.
If you go under Parcels Tutorial>Exercise 1: Creating Parcels from AutoCAD Objects, you can see exactly what I am working with.

I need to analyze an image and read the value of each pixel, exclude the highest and lowest values (perhaps anything less than 10,10,10 and greater than 245,245,245) , then average the remaining. I may need to do this on each channel of RGB.
I can almost get a result blurring the sample and then using a large brush with the info tool, but is there any other method more direct and all inclusive?
To workaround the missing API for creating Parcel Area Tables, I have tried the following:
1. Create a "pick point" selection set (using ObjectARX), containing the Parcel for which I want to create a table.
2. Execute the AddParcelTable command.
3. Programmatically push the Select Parcel-button and the OK button of the Create Table dialog using win32 API.
When the Select Parcel button is pressed, the label next to it displays 1 parcel(s) selected and when the OK button is pressed, Civil prompts the user to pick the upper left corner of the table, but the prompt is immediately interrupted with the message "Invalid 2D point" and the table creation is aborted...
I have created a Parcel Area Label Style in code, and also added a text component to the style. The point in adding a text component was to expose a Parcel UDP on the label, but the text component does not display as expected (read: as it displays when the same thing is done in the GUI).
I set the LabelStyleTextComponent.Text.Contents.Value to the same string as I get when I add the Parcel UDP to the text component in the GUI (from the Properties-drop down in the Text Component Editor), but the label then just displays the "template", e.g. "<[My UDP(CP)]>", exactly as it shows in the Editor. When the style and text component is added through the GUI, the label correctly displays the current value of the UDP "My UDP" on the Parcel.
If I go into the Text Component Editor after having added the area label style and it's text component through code, and add the same UDP to the text component (so that it stores the UDP twice), then the label correctly displays the UDP value twice on the Parcel (!). That is, Civil then suddenly realizes it's a UDP.
I've read 2013 is going to include line labeling capabilities by selecting 2 points rather than selecting linework. Is there going to be a way to label an area without creating a closed polyline or parcel, where it works the way a hatch works. So if I selecting in the middle of multiple individual intersecting lines, it labels the area.

I think it is pointing to the full path location of C:ProgramDataAutodeskC3D 2012enuDataReportsxsl.
The file (Parcel_Areas.xsl) exists in this location.
NONE of the parcel reports that I tried to execute work - they all return the same grammtically painful error message.
I have a record plat drawing with multiple parcels and parcel styles. For my lands of the grantors I view port froze the lots and right of way layers from my parcel styles. I don’t want to show them in this viewport. To my surprise the lines show up in the object layer we have set for parcels. This was not the case in 2011. We are in 2014 with the first hotfix update. I understand putting the parcel styles in the object layer, but why another mysterious line under it? I did create parcels from objects, but had them erased when I created them. This did not matter either way. Is there a way to get rid of them? I did put them in a new layer, set it to “No Plot” This kept them from plotting, but I really don’t want to have to take the time to do it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen creating and labelling a parcel Autocadd Civil 3d places a label in an adjoining area outside of the intended parcel.
The label seems ubrelated to the intended parcel and is labelled with a diferent parcel number, area, etc.. No additional parcel boundaries seem to be created.
Have created a closed polyline for parcel creation as well as a number of other steps to ensure that there are no breaks in the enclosed parcel.
Any good tips when it comes to calculating the area of a floor plan? You are supposed to start measuring from the outermost part of the walls, but when I do that I run into trouble with the porch on the bottom of the drawing and the room on top left.
The problems are basically that the porch is not supposed to be included in the total area, and in the room on the top I end up measuring a small area twice if I start my measuring from the outermost part of the walls. This is not very well explained but I've drawn two red lines on the drawing to try to show where the problem areas are.
When I am trying to calculate area, i got wrong answer. At very first i thought it calculates area with inches (iam in metric sys), but then i checked options and its answer should be in mm, but I am getting wrong answer. In my object (which is rectangular) there's many other things, like hatch, buildings and so on. Maybe this can abstract for direct answer, because when i draw just a simple square or rectangle.

I know how to calculate an individual window area by using 'area' or 'ls' command. But this is just partial drawing and the whole building has hundreds of windows and it will take forever to calculate one by one and add them together to get the total area. I have an 11 floor building I wish to create a gross area schedule for. I have made all the area plans, and they all show up under the Gross Building Area Plans. But when i go to create a Gross Building Area Schedule it only lists 7 of the floors. (Leaves out sub base - Lvl2 and gives Lvl3-penthouse)

The formula I am using is S = I*L/A
S = Average Slope
I = Contour Invertval
L = Length of Contours (ft)
A = Area of parcel (sq. ft)
I just had to do four parcel calcs and the percentage I find using the formula is always 1-3% lower than the percentage Civil3D spits out. I can't find anything about how Civil3D arrives at that number, it just appears. I assume that Civil3D is more accurate but I can't give that number to a client without knowing how the program arrived there.
I have 2 different surveys of the same area of ground. If i create a surface from each data set, can they be averaged into one suface? I know you can past them together, but how does it paste? the first one on the bottom and the second on time? I would like an average.

Right now I am setting FL with elevation nodes at the required interval, assigning EG elevation and pasting from the panorama to excel to compute the average.

When the top code is used to create surface from a road corridor, the created surface coincides with the top of the road pavement (binder/wearing course), which is not part of earthworks.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Land Desktop using the Hydrology tools, we could get capacities for rectangular pipes based on slope, size, etc.
I have tried using the Hydraflow Express tools for this, but cannot figure out how to use them for a RECTANGULAR pipe (i.e. 10x4) box. Saw the circular option, but couldn't change where it says circular.
This is not a culvert analysis because we have inlets, multiple slopes, etc. It is part of an entire system.
I use these tools to layout the system before I want to put it into the analyses software we are using.
