Premiere Pro :: Turn Off Time Remapping - Original Clip Gets Grey Stripes Over It?
Mar 31, 2014
I'm trying to apply the time remapping settings from my original clips to those that I've colored in DaVinci Resolve. I turned off all effects on my colored clips and graded the entire clip, not just the segment in my original timeline. My workflow thus far has been this:
1) Copy the original clip above the colored clip
2) Revert the speed of the original clip to 100 from where it was adjusted to (the speed of the original clips varies from 500% to 1000% across the timeline)
3) Turn off Time Remapping on the original clips (this is done by deleting all keyframes)
4) Find the In and Out points of the original clip through timecode
5) Set the In and Out points of the colored clip to those of the original
6) Make another copy of the original clip and set it to 100 but don't turn off time remapping
7) Copy the time remapping settings of the original clip to the colored clip
8) Convert the colored clip to the original clip's speed (usually between 500% and 1000%)
Now, in several cases this works, but in others it falls apart at Step 3. When we turn off time remapping, the original clip gets grey stripes over it in the timeline and we cannot see the footage in the Program or Source viewing monitors. We have tried reversing steps 2 and 3, but when we do that the clip gets shrunk down to 1 frame and we lose the original In and Out points.

Not sure if this is possible, but is there any way to turn a 15 fps clip into a 30 fps clip?

I watched a video clip and I liked everything from, let's say the :30 mark to the minute mark. So, I import it into Premiere. However, when I put it at the end of the next clip, it shows the time for the whole sequence. Now, I know that I can do the math, but is there a way to show where the 30 second mark (in this example) is by avoiding doing the calculation? It's do-able, but seems a little tedious. Would like to "reset the clock" so to speak when working on individual clips within the timeline.

I want to adjust the level of the sound within a clip. I take my pen tool and just add 2 keyframes a few seconds apart from eachother. I adjust the height of the last keyframe, but when I playback NOTHING happends. This is so annoying because it has always worked. I use Premiere Pro 5.5.

I'm putting together a timelapse movie with about 6K stills. I have them gathered in groups of 600. They're all about 4 megs. I'm taking them into a sequence at 24 fps. Why is my clip coming in at about 6 sec's? Then another group of 600 stills coming in at .04 sec's?

I have done one job with new camcorder and the time and date stamp is on the video. I have looked all through the manual and I cannot find out how to turn off the time and date stamp. Do I turn off at camcorder or with Premiere Pro? I don't want it on my videos.

Is it possible to use the Timearp function in the same way as Time Remapping in AE?
I just watched Grants video for a third time and it doesn't really touch on this kind of time manipulation.
specifically i need to add keyframes at specific events then be able to move those keyframes to match up with other moves on a different video layer, and have the "time" between the two keyframes react accordingly.

My current workflow is to design on layers, freezing layers when I'm done working on a portion as to not inadvertently move the contents around. When freezing layers the layers contents are turned grey.
Is there a way to freeze a layer and not have it turn grey?

After setting up a layout tab, all of my objects turned light grey. When I went to model space they were the same. if I list an object the color says bylayer but the display (in model space or in paperspace remains grey even afret doing a regen, or closing the drawing and reopening it.

I joined two video clips and saved them as a single clip. They are both .mov files. One is 18mb and the other is 15mb, so I assumed the new file would be 33mb. When I save the new file in .mpg, however, it is only 27mb. When I try saving it in .mov, it balloons to over 120mb. How should I save the new clip to maintain the original size and ensure I'm not losing any quality?
Also, when I save the clips it seems to be converting the original 640*480 aspect ratio to 720*480. How do I preserve the original aspect ratio?

I have created 3 different sequences, and placed a clip into each one. I went into #s 1 and 2, and added a dip to black transition to the end of the clip in each. When I went to #3, I was unable to add the dip to the clip in there. Dragging the transition to the clip on the timeline gave me a had with a circle + slash. Double clicking the transition wit hteh clip selected did nothing. The layer is not locked.

I used to have this problem with CS5 and hoped it wouldn't happen again when I bought in to CC.
In the timeline certain audio tracks will not allow me to enable clip keyframes. When I try the 'add keyframe' button is greyed out. I can add track keyframes no problem but using them is a lengthy work around. The error also seems to be radom and trashing my prefs makes no difference.
Specs are:
iMac 27" 3.4GHZ i7, 16GB DDR3, Radeon HD 6790M 2GB

I have a project which requires a lot of different edits from the same clip.
Is there any way to do this without having to duplicate the same clip each time and then making my new edit?
For instance -
Clip 1 is 20 minutes long.
My first edit is from 1:10 to 1:35.
I then duplicate Clip 1 and make another edit from 2:40 to 3:55. I'm using Premier CS5.

I'm trying to replace the audio of a clip. I know I can easily delete the audio once it's in a sequence, but I'd like to replace the audio entirely so that the new audio is always on the clip as it's viewed in the project bins. You can edit in Audition for the clip, but thre doesn't seem to be a way to save the changes.

I saw YouTube video where a guy cropped down a video and then he somehow selected only the edge of the frame and somehow stretched it to extend the background over. The effect was that he made some junk at the side of the frame go away without effectively zooming in on his main subject matter.
I am unable to find this video now. I know how to do it in Photoshop. Just use the Rectangular Marquee Tool and select the edge of the image, copy to a new layer, and stretch it out. I've got to imagine the steps are similar for a video - just need to know which tools to use.

In CS6, is it possible to navigate between clip markers in the timeline.
I'm talking about markers placed on actual clips, not markers placed on the sequence timeline.
I'd like to have a shortcut to navigate between clip markers but that shortcut seems to only work on markers placed on the sequences timeline, not on the clip.
Yes, you can open the clip in the source monitor, then jump to clip markers for that one clip but that's not what I'm after.
I want to mark my clips in the source monitor, bring all those clips to one timeline, then navigate between the markers placed on the actual clip.

I'm on a macbook pro and it seems that I cannot move a clip by selecting it and entering + or - and a number. This can be accomplished with a full sized keyboard by using the number pad on the right, but cannot be accomplished by using the regular laptop keyboard. Am I missing something? Is there a way to edit the keyboard shortcuts to do this?

I have some photos that look beautiful on the computer screen. They are each about 8MB and, according to the color settings menu, I am using sRGB. This all being said, I was sad to see that when I got 8X10 prints made, they did not measure up. Colors were not as good. Shadows looks blochy. Some of the light was different. Some pictures looked overexposed after printing. how to ensure the prints turn out like the original?
Below are two versions. Picture 1 is a smaller version of an original image. Picture 2 is a scan of the 8X10 I got printed of that same picture. In picture 2, the colors look more saturated.
In picture 1, the shadow fading in the background is smooth. In picture 2, the shadow fading becomes blochy as it fades more. This is MUCH more evident in the 8X10 print. The scanner didn't pick it up that well.

Premiere Pro CC v7.2.1
Win7 Pro 64-bit
In Premiere, you have a clip which was edited via "Edit clip in Adobe Audition".Premiere never changes the original clip, it creates a separate audio file which Premiere uses. You later reopen the project in order to restore that clip to the original. There does not appear to be a "restore original audio" menu item for the clip. How do you restore the clip audio to the original?

I've been using LR3 for a year or so and have an imported folder with over 7000 images in it all from 2009. The set was originally created in Elements organsier 8.0 probably in 2009?
I have noticed that somewhere along the line 658 of them have had the original capture time overwritten to a single point in time 15th Nov.
They are all JPEG (before I had a RAW camera) and the changes are embedded in the jpg.
This folder has been processed with a few tags and some editing and filtered out rejects.
I would like to get the original time stamp back as the images do not flow with the other 2000+ from the same couple of months.
I do have copies of the originals with correct time stamps - but no tags etc as they were created at time of import.
I have tried copying one of the originals from backup and overwriting the 'wrong date' file using windows and then importing the metadata from file and this rectifies the date - but loses keywords etc
If I use LR to import from back up - firstly it does not see the backup as a duplicate - despite file name being the same - I guess date throws it?? so I end up with duplicates - one on each date ; correct + incorrect
My question is: Is there a way to re-read the original time metadata back into the file/catalog and retain the keyword tags (like a selective merge)?
It would be great to have a solution rather than manually having to identify the incorrect files and copying, Or doing a mass read of original metadata and losing any keywords.

If you double-click on a clip in a Timeline it will open in the Source Monitor.
That feature is sometimes confusing, because if you do it by accident and think that you are viewing your source clip and set a new Mark In after the original Out point, the clip will disappear from the Timeline.
Is there a good reason for that feature or is it a bug?

I have a short 5min film for a student film fest, all the audio and visual plays perfectly in the timeline. However, when exported, the last audio clip (which is a 'button' and comes after two soundless title slides) does not play at all. Again, it works perfectly in timeline. All audio files are .WAV and I've tried exporting it in several different fashions, none of which have made a difference.
For the film fest I need to export in 16:9, Apple ProRes 422 (HQ). I tried this, among regular Quick Time export, Vimeo export, and others...every single export the audio on the 'button' didn't play at all but the clip is there.
Side Note: I tried adding low volume audio to bridge the last clip to the button to see if that made a difference so there would be no gaps in the audio timeline, but it did nothing.
