Premiere Pro :: Converting 29.97p (from Canon Dslr) To 60i For Broadcast

Jan 22, 2014

I've recently been brought on to a production (hour long doc) that's pretty much already been edited to time (picture locked), however at the time of the editing they didn't have a broadcaster.  Now they do have one on board that's requesting delivery in 60i.

All the footage was shot at 29.97p with a 5D Mrk 3.  The show was started in Premiere CS 6 but they upgraged to Premiere CC. I know that it's now possible in Premiere to change the sequence settings of a pre-existing sequence.  I was just wondering what would be the simplest way to convert the footage / timeline to 60i from 29.97p footage sititng in a 29.97p sequence.  Do I have to re-transcode all of the footage in the edit?  or can I just change the sequence settings and have premire treat the 29.97p footage as 60i? I assume this wouldn't change the running time of the edit since I'm just splitting the progressive frames into fields.

Premiere Pro :: MPEG-2 Bitrates And Specs For Broadcast

Jan 29, 2014

New "ad server" system I wil be using soon..

1.Spec preference is for 25Mbps .Is that achieved via  Target Bit rate or Maximum Bit rate in the AME export settings?

2. Spec preference is 50i Upper field dominant.AME does not have that option. Is 25 Progressive effectively the same?

3. Spec preference is 4:2:2 (MPEG-2)No option in AME for that... so what does one do?

4. Any other MPEG 2 settings GOP N /M frames etc...for best results?

will be doing a workflow and pipeline test with faciilty.  Just wanted a starting point.

May 23, 2013

I have a doubt: when importing and converting from Canon RAW (CR2), extract Lightroom ALL COMPLETE information from the original file? I've observed that Canon RAW software display some information like the AF points that doesn't appear in LightRoom. I want to know about this question for better decide if i must convert to DNG and delete original CR2 or include the original RAW in the DNG file (duplicating his size)

Premiere Pro :: Best Settings For Canon XF100 To SD Export?

Dec 8, 2013

I've recently come across from FCP to Premiere Pro CS6. I've also acquired a Canon XF100 camera (the output being MXF files) and have been shooting some HD test footage which is 1920x1080. However, the project I will be shooting needs to be exported as a PAL SD .MOV file, as it is to be used for broadcast by a non-HD community station.

I have tried many different sequence and export settings to create the SD .MOV file, but in nearly all of them I keep getting blurring lines across the screen. I am now not sure if I should be shooting in SD or HD... I thought that I could shoot in HD for a better image before rendering out a SD final export.(I used to do this in FCP)

Premiere Pro :: Canon XA25 AVCHD Footage In CC?

Jan 29, 2014

I shot some footage in AVCHD with the Canon XA25 and I would like to edit it in Premiere Pro CC. In the Media Browser though, there's no thumbnail and the clip is just called "private" - In FCP7 I can just open the log and transfer and easily convert to ProRES. Is there a way to easily deal with clips from this camera in Premiere?

Premiere Pro :: Interpolation For Converting 90 Degree Shutter 25fps To 50fps?

Jan 3, 2014

I am planning to use a 50fps timeline, but my camera does not support 50fps, so the next best thing I can do is 25fps. My understanding is that if I shoot with a 90 degree shutter at 25fps, then that is like shooting every second frame of native 180 degree shutter 50fps. I hope that is correct The question is, how do I get Premiere to interpolate the additional frames so I have a nice smooth 50fps finish? Do I need a plugin? I don't want the blending modes that just overlay adjacent frames. I'm looking for a solution that creates brand new frames with moving objects where they would have been, had the footage been shot at 180 degree 50fps in the first place.

VideoStudio :: DSLR Image Size

Sep 13, 2013

Just upgraded from Studio 12 to VSx6 and love it. Now I'm trying to be more creative and import .jpg images from my Nikon DSLR to use in my videos. Most of my images are 4288x2848 for 12.2 MB. Should I be resizing the images before importing, if so to what size?

For example, I created a time-lapse from 90 images in VSx6 from the same size images, but the video did not have the sharpness I expected. The individual photos were sharp as a tack, but the video seemed almost out of focus.

Photoshop :: Correcting Perspective On Book Page Scans Made With A DSLR

Sep 27, 2006

I am doing a project for school that requires me to "scan" some old books by shooting the pages with a DSLR-type camera. The setup is kind of like a poor-man's planetary scanner, but unlike a real PS, it doesn't have fancy proprietary software to "flatten out" the curves in the pages (near the binding and in the middle) that distort the text. Since part of my project involves processing the images with OCR into ebooks, I need the lines to be as straight as possible for accuracy's sake. I figure photoshop has GOT to be able to handle distortion correction like this, but I am clueless on how to do it. So far, I have tried to get close by cropping the pictures with a perspective correction, but the pages are still unreadable near the binding and in the middle.

The question is how do I create long rectangular graphics on and then have them feather off at the end of the rectangle? I know that I can add a backdrop to text but I need to be able to manipulate the backdrop independent of the text.

How would you achieve the titles in the attached photo?

AutoDesk Smoke :: Get Viewport To Broadcast Monitor?

Aug 22, 2012

I run Smoke 2012 Adv Ext1 SP1. The hardware is old, like 5years now.

The way I remember it our GFX card is not powerful enough to feed a broadcast monitor all the time, the output only comes up there when I'm in player.

But, unless my memory's even worse than I thought, I used to get a full screen output from the viewport that was selected (with the blue 'Monitor' display) in Action and Batch.

I can't seem to get this working again. I suppose it's in preferences, but the multiview section is greyed out.

I include 2 shots.

AutoDesk Smoke :: Locking Viewer In CFX To Broadcast Monitor In 1-up

Jun 22, 2012

Is it possible to lock the CFX output to the broadcast monitor so that I can see the changes I make on the image in the broadcast monitor while working in the 1-up view? This way the CFX schematic can fill my 23 inch computer screen. So far i have only been able to do that with the 2-up, etc views. As soon as I switch to the 1-up view or swipe to the left while in 2-up view (which switches it back to the 1-up) the broadcast monitor shows whatever I am working on be it schematic or other.

When I am in the 2-up view and I lock the right part of the 2 up view to the broadcast monitor I usually maximize the left view to fill the screen. It however does not fully fill the screen and keeps the right view scaled to a very small size on the right.
