When I move a canvas around the screen, if I take it too near the top it will snap to the top of the screen and take up the whole page with just this one canvas. How do I stop it from doing this? I guess its in options somewhere but as I dont know what its called I dont know what to search for? Also how do I stop one canvas snapping into another/tabbing into another when moving them around?
View 1 RepliesI have supposedly disabled all the "snap" features in Photoshop, however, whenever I try to make minute transforms with the skew tool it always "snaps" (often closing a huge gap) to either it's previous vector, or one of the other points.
How do I stop this before I hit my head on the desk repeatedly in frustration?
Ctrl, etc., like with the move tool, does nothing differently.
I don't want my images to default to "snap to guides." I have guides up on most of my files because I use them for spacing my comic; I work from a template so I can have consistent sizing. But I only rarely ever want to snap to those guides.
Yes, I can turn off the snapping, but I have to do this EVERY F***ING TIME. Open a file I've been working on already? Gotta disable the snapping. Open a new file? Gotta disable the snapping. Restarting GIMP because it just crashed? Gotta disable the snapping. Every freaking time for each freaking image. Gimp won't save the setting to the file nor to my preferred settings.
How can I get GIMP to stop setting the guides to snap by default?
When I expand a selection or move and image/object around then deselect the edges/parts that end up falling outside of the canvas area get deleted. How do I stop this? When I go move the layer around or resize it I can't because what ever parts landed outside of the canvas area have been deleted. This is on Photoshop CS6, I never had this problem with CS5.

But for the past couple of days when I try to use the move, copy, stretch commands, everytime I go to select a base point - autocad selects the point and then automatically snaps or displaces to a random point off of the screen. I don't know if this has something to do with the right mouse click or not, but I can't figure out why it keeps snapping off screen. If I switch and use the enter key or space bar as enter the problem goes away.

If one drags a layer from one image to another while holding shift, the layer will be placed in the center of the canvas it's dragged to. What I want to do is just move a layer to the exact center of the canvas. I have in the past, when deperate, done so by moving it to a different image and then back while holding shift.

I'm using Photoshop CS3 on a Vista Enterprise Edition box.
Every once in a while I print that has two side-by-side images on one piece of paper. My usual routine is to create a new document that is larger than the two images--say, 10x8 (horizontal) with a transparent background and the same resolution as the two images that I'll be placing on the canvas (say, two 4x3's). Then I simply click on the image I want to move and drag it from its layers palette onto the blank background canvas, and move/edit/size as needed.
when I drag an image over to the blank canvas, it assumes the size of the entire canvas. so I just have the image... enlarged. With no background canvas. when I click on the new image (the one dragged to the canvas), all of the editing commands are grayed out. So I cannot resize or move it.I'm on CS5 (mac)

i have tried gimp 2.8.0, 2.8.2 and the same problem with the new one (2.8.4), same problem aswell with gimp 2.9 development builds. gimp 2.6 works fine with no screen tearing at all.

currently using PS5 and recently updated to PS6. In both versions i have an issue with ACR.More often than not, when processing a raw file, if i apply any noise reduction (ie move the luminance amount slider from 0) the zoom stops functioning preventing me zooming in or out. Some times this is acompanied by the image "stuttering" if i move the image around the screen to look at a different part.
When i open an image in ACR and convert to tiff in PS the first time i use the program all is well, but if i then go back to ACR and open another image i often find that the ACR screen comes up minus the actual image. The window which should contain the image shows PS underneath. Im currently using windows 7. I often get an error message when trying to open a raw file stating "not enough RAM". Is the ram (or lack of) responsible for all of these issues?
I have recently replaced my PC. Windows Pro with all current updates. I use Photoshop CS3.
Sometimes when I put the cursor on the blue bar at the top of an open PS image it doesn't move around my screen when I drag the mouse. Other times it works OK after a few stutters. It was always OK on my previous PC.
When I go to crop or move an image close to the edge of the canvas it jumps to the edge. I am having trouble especially with cropping the space between the image and the edge of the canvas the way I want it. turning off this jumping to edge problem I'm having?
Also, I've used CS4 a fair bit and haven't come across this same problem but in PE when I'm editing things like adjusting text on a layer and I'm changing options with hotkeys to resize the text box for eg, Elements seems to jump to the background layer quite alot and then I have to click back on the layer I want to edit between changing tools. Is it something to do with the Esc key?
I just bought a seconf monitor to move all tools and windows to the seconf screen. I want my picture alone on the main screen. It seems that PSE 11 won't allow me to do that.

The Anchor in the Canvas Size menu appears outlined (highlighted?) which indicates that this is something in preferences that I can adjust.

I saw some animation presets there for text but not what I'm looking for. What I'm trying to do: along with a song, every time the name of the song comes up in the chorus, I'd like to scroll those words across the full height of the video as an overlay. I do a lot of screen captures mostly using Vdub to move frame by frame when I want a screencap. I don't get any problem with vdub but when I use other programs like MPC HC or sometimes even in WMP, the size dimensions sometimes gets captured with the image like this:
It gets quite annoying because I have to recapture the frame again and try different techniques to get it without the box or size dimensions showing up in the capture.I'm using Corel PSP x4 to do my screen captures. How to capture clearly without those box dimensions getting in the way?
For some reason, now when I click on Constrained Orbit or Free Orbit the screen automatically starts to move, its like I have just pressed on Continuous Orbit. Free Orbit works OK if I hold shift and use the scroll button, but I am used to using the icon .
