Oct 7, 2013Is there a way to change the defualt gray color of selection tools in PSSC6? When making selection of products on a gray sealess the lazzo path is difficult to see.

Photoshop :: Severe Color Posterization / Patches And Non Functioning Selection / Fill Tools
Aug 14, 2012I just got a new laptop (Apple Mac book pro with OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion) and a fresh installation of Adobe CS6 and Photoshop is practically unusable. The issues are that there is weird color banding across the full size image (it looks fine in the thumbnail preview in the ‘navigator’ tab). These bands move and change. Next, when I use the selection tool it selects weird shapes. And if I attempt to fill it, the fills are not the color, nor the transparency nor the shapes that I set. That means masks can’t be used and pretty much no editing is possible. Some blog posts describe a similar problem, and propose changing the ‘Performance’ preferences .

Dec 5, 2003when I make a selection with any of the tools, and modify border than delete; I get a feathered effect around selection. I have set feather to zero, and have also reset tools to defaults, but still cannot get a clean, sharp edge. This has happened before, and the only thing I could come up with to fix the problem was reinstall.

Aug 22, 2012When I am using either the magic wand tool or the polygonal lasso tool in Photoshop CS, the tools cause the program to behave strangely, including:
-crashing (program error, PS shuts down)
-PS completes a lasso by itself without me completing it
-using the lasso tool causes the tools pallete to go blank, and hovering over each tool restores it
Is there a fix for whatever is causing this bug?

Feb 24, 2013I am using Photoshop Extended CS6. A new problem has started to occur recently. I can select a tool, but I can't change the tool type. For example,I can select the Lasso Tool and when I right-click the tool fly-out appears, but I cannot select a tool from the fly-out to change the tool type. The editing tools, at least the ones I can select, still work except for the selection and crop tools. For the crop tool, the crop lines appear at the edge of the image but they cannot be moved. For the selection tools, nothing is selected. I can still use menu commands such as Canvas Size.
This happens when I open a file or start a new file. I have Windows 7, 4G memory and nothing else running. I have tried 32-bt and 64-bit versions.This has happened intermittently for a month or two. In the past, freeing up space on a hard drive seemed to work. But now I have 50G free on one drive and 30G free on another so I don't see how that could be the problem. Rebooting allows me to use the crop tool once, but then the problem reoccurs.

Nov 30, 2013I am having trouble in CS6 with selecting a portion of my photo, with any of the tools- quick-selection, lasso or magnetic lasso.
What happens is that once I have completed my selection, I get strange rectangles of 'marching ants' throughout my selection. These show up as different colours on the layer mask as well. When I first used quick selection it worked properly.

Oct 26, 2008downloaded upgrade versions CS3 on septate computers. She is taking a class in Photoshop using the Adobe Classroom in a Book as a text. About a month ago she started to have problems getting selection tools and brushes etc. to work. None of those types of tools work at all now.
She has downloaded the latest upgrades. We have completely removed Photoshop from the computer, and reinstalled it twice. The computer is scanned for viruses and bots. All other applications work fine. She is now having to use my computer to complete her class work.

Dec 15, 2012I recently started having this problem in Photoshop CS6 where using the transform or selection tools makes all the layers other than my background layer disappear so I can't see what I'm selection or transforming. This happens randomly out of nowhere. I can be using those tools all day with no problem, and then out of nowhere it starts making things invisible.
There doesn't seem to be any other programs running that would cause it (not that that should be an issue, my computer could easily run all my Adobe programs at once if I wanted it to), and the only thing that seems to fix it so far is restarting Photoshop. But that gets old really fast when I have to do it over and over again. I tried calling Adobe, but somehow they're always closed, even during their supposed hours of operation.
Paint.NET :: Moving Selection Tools
May 8, 20121) I open up a large image as background.
2) I add a new layer, then import a smaller image into that layer.
3) I try to select and move the smaller image so that it's positioned where I want it, but despite seeing the "nodes" on the side and corners and trying every possible combination of blue arrow/white arrow/shift etc., all I seem to be able to move across the canvas is the transparent box created by the nodes. In other words, I'm moving the box that contains the image, but apparently not the image itself.
Might this have anything to do with one image being a .pdn and the other being a .png?

Nov 16, 2011i used to work a lot with polyboost and since the change from polyboost to graphite modeling tools, i built my own toolbars in max.to customize the interface, i found all the tools i needed in the polytools category.one big exception is even/odd selection presets (skip, nthselect / step), which i found an extremely useful edge-selection tool. i attach a screenshot of the polyboost tools rollout, where these settings could be found formerly. at the end of this message i also attach a dicription of these settings from the polyboost work. Where to find the command to launch this toolbox. or if this feature possibly was not included in the graphite modeling tools?

selects the next even or odd numbered element in the model. because of the way the numbers are laid out in a basic primitive in max, this will in a way duplicate the selection further down the element numbers. the "STEP" spinner determines how big the jump is to the next selection. if the "reverse(rev)" checkbox is checked the selection will be created in the opposite way, and if the "move" checkbox is checked the selection will not be duplicated, but moved instead.

Mar 5, 2014I have just recently downloaded InDesign CC (I use Mac OSX.9.2) and got the World Tools plugin to typeset in different languages.
However, I am having trouble using the selection and type tools. In about the first half of the file, the type tool displays the pointer/dashed box/I-beam icon and doesn't put the cursor in the text when I click on it. I can't click to select text as I should be able to, and if I try to click and drag, all I do is end up creating another text frame. But in about the second half of the file, the selection and type tools work the way they should.
When I click and hold on the type tool, the cursor changes to the crosshairs icon for creating text frames and the "W: H: " dialogue box for text frames appears.
How can I get the tools to work properly in the entire document?

Is there any possibility known (style setting for gtk, ...) to change it(back) to 1px? It would work make much more precise ..

Feb 21, 2007I've been bitten by the color bug, and I want to know if anyone at PS has hardware that measures your monitor (spektrometer?) along with the software that I could borrow (or even perhaps buy?)
If it was for borrow, I would pay for shipping both ways as well as a perk for thanks. (I don't know if I can justify buying something that I'd only use once) But aside from using the proper color spaces, this should adjust the phosphors and such for perfect color calibration.
(It's amazing moving work from once PC to another how the color changes)

Oct 5, 2011I am a new user to paint.net, because the tool I used for complex image manipulation does not run on the OS of my new machine. Although I could easily purchase the newest version, I needed work on some pictures now. Paint.net was easily available and does most of the thins I need at the moment. In addition, it is officially supported at my work place, so it's a good idea to learn how to use it.
Paint.net has some great features and a cute UI, but there are some issues I would like to see improved. The one at the top of my list is the font preview. I am doing some text on a number of pictures and want to check out some fonts. Unfortunately I can't change the sample text in the font list (at least I do not know how).
However, meanwhile I found a even better function (actually the way I would like to see it). When the font list is open, I can scroll through the list and the text will instantly updated. Cool.
Great thing would be to move the color picker out from the tool box into the color selection, so that it would be always available. Also it would be useful to not only pick one pixel sometimes but the average of a greater area.

Oct 2, 2012Working in Illustrator CS5 on a Mac. When choosing a color in the palette, the preview showing up is different than what is in the palette. If I hit "OK" the actual color chosen is the one in the palette, not the preview window... Including some pics for reference. In my 10+ years of using Illustrator, i have never seen this.I am using a Dell monitor on a mac... not sure if that would make a difference.

Apr 21, 2013When I'm painting, I create my custom color swatches it's easy to just click on the color I need and go. But, when choosing brushes, it's much more complicated.
I use several brushes, the mixer brush and the smudge tool back and forth when painting. Is there a way I can pull the various brushes, and tools into a panel like the color swatches so it's all right there and all I have to do it click and go?

Aug 8, 2005I have been using Photoshop for quite sometime now for basic image editing and website design. I recently upgraded to 7.0 since 4.0 was giving me some trouble with memory errors that would result in loss of work. Anyways my question is this: Lately (as in the past week or 2) I have been having a problem with my Photoshop, when I would click on the color selector (the 2 color boxes in the tool selector box) it would select the Eye Dropper tool instead. And from there I could not do anything without hitting Alt + F4, after doing that the Eye Dropper tool would go away and I would be back where I started, still unable to change or choose a color. While the Eye Dropper tool is active when I do this I cannot click on anything or do anything, the Eye Dropper tool will not even function. I would only get an error sound as if I was trying to do something I'm not supposed too. I've never encountered this before and cannot find this same problem anywhere online. I have reinstalled PS numerous times and still the same effect. Has anybody else had or seen this problem? How can I fix it? Thank you for your time.
Nevermind, I found the problem. Apparently if I run PS with only 1 monitor on I get this error, but as long I have both monitors enabled it works fine. That's weird but atleast it works now.
