Photoshop :: Using Transform Or Selection Tools Makes Non-background Layers Or Whole Document Invisible

I recently started having this problem in Photoshop CS6 where using the transform or selection tools makes all the layers other than my background layer disappear so I can't see what I'm selection or transforming. This happens randomly out of nowhere. I can be using those tools all day with no problem, and then out of nowhere it starts making things invisible.
There doesn't seem to be any other programs running that would cause it (not that that should be an issue, my computer could easily run all my Adobe programs at once if I wanted it to), and the only thing that seems to fix it so far is restarting Photoshop. But that gets old really fast when I have to do it over and over again. I tried calling Adobe, but somehow they're always closed, even during their supposed hours of operation.

While I'm waiting on a BackBurner cache...
After doing these caches, my system goes into a weird cycle where the mouse pointer goes invisible for 2-3 seconds, about every 15 seconds or so. Both within Smoke, and even in the Mac OS - the only thing that fixes it is a system reboot. Big PITA when cache-ing from lots of different sources drives, so lots of cache-batches.
How to be able to EJECT a drive from Smoke without quitting the app, and even then, I still have to FORCE EJECT more often than not. I've quit and restarted this project dozens of times to change out source media USB3 drives. Wasn't so bad when you could daisy chain FW drives, but I can only connect one USB3 drive at a time on my 2011 MacPro.

I just put in a new Radeon 5770 card (PCI slot 1) into my Mac Pro 2008 Quad Core which is running Photoshop CS3. Now, the cursor (on all tools) disappears when mousing over any open PDS document. In Indesign, the cursor for all tools shows and works - as well as other pragrams.

I'm using CS6 and noticed that whenever I delete a layer that was a dupe of another layer with links (although not linked specifically to the deleted layer), the undeleted original layers become invisible on the canvas even though they are still visible in the layers pallette. I've been able to recreate this several times. Nothing I do will make the layers visible -I've tried moving them all to the top of the layers palette, making sure their opacity is 100%, making sure there are no layer effects, etc.

In the attached photo, I've already done some transforming and cropping to the get the top of the photo to be relatively straight.
I'm pretty sure what I need to do now is find a way to get the lower left of the photo to be pushed down and to the left to both: stop the appearance of that side of the photo jutting out more and to straighten out the white sign that says SOHO NOW OPEN so that it's flush with the top. However, I've tried all the transform tools and none of them are making that happen for me.

For some reason, all of my selection tools (like marquee tool) become invisible as soon as I let mouse 1 go. So I can't really see what I have selected, however I can modify my selection, cut it, transfor or do anything else I want..

Left - Marquee Tool > Transform > Skew
Middle - Liquify filter with "use graphic processors" selected
Right - Liquify filter without (same result)
Image above is at 200% zoom
All Transform tools cause jaggy edge. I've only tried these tools and Liquify for the last month and a half.
Uninstalled, re-installed Windows, Photoshop, graphic card - Evga 560 ti - drivers (all versions). No prevail.
CS5 works flawlessly on this system. These tools also work fine on my laptop which use Radeon HD3470.

I have photoshop cc currently and it works fine other than when i try to transform an object. The view of the document flickers, the background goes through alll the possibe colors and the work space flickers from the image to a complete black block... Is it my computer or the program?

I have been working with creating the effect of indented text. I have created a new fill which I placed behind my original one.I then went to "Effec" Transform & Distort" " Transform". I was going to add a vertical move of 1px - BUT it doesn't move vertically? My fill is moving downwards 1px?!
I thought I was going crazy until I zoomed in and applied the same setting again....sure enough it is moving down for veritical and vertically for down.

A friend asked me to make an animated forum signature for him but their forum has a rule the sig size must be 650x200.
So i thought i would fit it in my own 650x200 signature and cutting everything outside that out using the wand tool on every layer (125) I made them visible cut out the outskirts and made it invisible again one by one , with the little eye next to the layer.
After u import Video frames to layers only the first one is visible , but in order to cut in a layer i needed to make it visible , and apperently after u make a layer visible its invisible in the saving (Save for Web option) After i was finished all i had left with was one layer that was visibile the other 5 seconds were just invisible
how to fix this , i ran into it a couple of times now its getting pretty annoying.
(I'm trying to fit video frames in here)

I've been using PS CS6 (Creative Cloud) on a Windows 7 workstation and have liked the feature that shows transform box when a layer or layers is selected. On my new Windows 8 workstation I'm getting PS CS6 x64 configured with my preferences. I'm not seeing the selection box unless I manually invoke "transform" (ctrl+t) on my selection. I haven't found a setting that enables the transform view by default.

I make a selection, select move (which shrinks the bounding box to the pixels themselves) and click "show transform controls" and (after verifying my reference location point is centered) I press (and hold)shift, click the middle bounding box on my selection and try to proportionally scale the selection it does not work. Only the side I am moving transforms. I thought since I am holding shift, the ENTIRE selection will transform based on the reference (or pivot) point?
I'm simply trying to scale a selection (in this case) on the horizontal axis only and scaling from the selected reference point (center).
Am I missing something or is it another CS3/vista64 "incompatibility"

For some time now i experience a really strange problem with my layer masks: the parts of a layer I hide with a black layer mask are still slightly visible in my picture - like these pixels still have an opacity of about 5%. The colour in the mask is definitly black and not dark grey (this was my first guess what could be wrong). I have no idea when this problem started, but I believe it was not there when I started to use CS6 (which I still do and on which the problem appears).

For Max design 2012 x64 (running on Win7 Ultimate with Geforce 9800GT) I get an invisible marquee selection box when trying to select anything in any viewport.
I’ve update Max with Sp2 and Hot fix 2 but they have no effect.
I’ve updated graphics card drivers to the latest available.
I have the View cube switched off.
Is there anything else I can try?

How do I record an action that will mimic my doing these clicks (assume that I've selected what I want to transform)
1. Edit
2. Transform -> Scale
3. Maintain Aspect Ratio
Now I want it to wait for me to manually adjust the scale, then I'll hit "Enter" when I'm done.

I selected a layer in order to scale it. When I click the link between height and width and then change the percentage up or down the object I'm trying to scale simply disappears. I can see the edges and the transform tool 'handles' but the layer is not there. I've never had an issue in any other version of Photoshop. What the heck is going on?
Doesn't matter whether I use the percentage tool in the upper palette of Photoshop or just shift and drag to scale. The scaling object becomes invisible.

In digital scrapping, you usually create an inner and outer mat for a photo. I select the photo layer, then edit>transform and click the lock button and set the option to 105%. After I create both inner and outer mats, the heighth and width proportion does not seem like it is exactly 105% on all edges.
I did not apply any drop shadows because I thought perhaps that was fooling the eye.

I'm making some graphics to be printed on a car. I have some lines with outer glow on them, but Illustrator won't render these unless I use 72DPI in raster effects reslution. I would like to go higher, but it won't give me anything. Guessing it's to heavy for Illustrator maybe? Is there anything I can do about this? I'm making my graphics in 1:1 scale, but I do it in a lower scale since it's just vector art anyway, however how would that effect my glow? Since it's a raster effect.

how to "drop out" the background from this photo (I have loads to do which are very similar). Thus far I have tried channel selections and the calculations tool + all the normal quick selection tools and I just cant get it to work without spending hours adjusting things. The end effect I need to achieve is a perfect white background without loosing any of the detail if possible. On a side note I have also tried taking the photo on blue, green, black and white backgrounds but due to the number of colours present in the products its just not working for me.

I have a edu version of Adobe creative suite CS2. I tried to learn some text effects in online turtorial but I found that feather, modify, grow, similar, transform selection submenu are disabled in the select main menu. I would like to know why and how to make them enable.

Does anyone know how to select part of a pixel image and transform not only the Background Layer but also its adjustment layers at the same time? When you Shift-click the layers together, the transform box doesnt encase the selected part any longer but rather it encases the entire image.

Is there a way to make parts invisible directly independent to the selection you made (selection can contain visible, invisible or both parts)?
Most of the time, i make a selection in the model browser and want to put a list of parts directly invisible. Sometimes i also select already invisble parts.
Now what inventor wants to do is make them all first visible before i can make them invisible. As far as i know, there is no other option to do this.
Is there maybe a combination with holding shift or something to directly toggle them invisible?

I can't find a way in Gimp 2.4 to delete all invisible layers, is there one?
When working with a slightly complex file I use to have multiple layers which I show, hide and duplicate as needed. After a while my layers dialog gets cluttered and I need to delete layers I don't need anymore, most of these layers are invisible and going one by one to delete takes much time, an option to remove all invisible layers would be great.
There's an option to delete invisible layers on "Image > Merge Visible Layers" but this, as the name says, merges all other layers.

I'm using Gimp 2.8.4 and when selecting a new layer to work on, it then switches to another layer which becomes the selected one.The only way I can definitely select the layer I want to work on is to make all other layers invisible.
