Photoshop :: Manipulating Photos To Look Like Drawings

Feb 29, 2004

i'm trying to take some photos and manipulate them to look like drawings without using the basic photoshop filters....

i'm open to trying different kinds of styles. anything from something like in the movie "Waking Life", to the Power Puff girls style of animation.

Even if i could get the photos to look like a water color painting would be cool.

i've been playing with them alot in photoshop and illustrator, but I just havent found a result I'm happy with yet. although, I only have the basic default photoshop filters here.

Photoshop :: Convert Photos To Line Drawings ?

Any ideas how to convert photos to line drawings? The best I've come up with so far is greyscale, then filter / stylize / find edges. Not bad .... but I think I could do better.

Photoshop :: Manipulating Alpha Channel?

Aug 9, 2013

I can't seem to find a way to edit (or at least delete) the alpha channel of an image with transparency in Photoshop.

Ctrl-clicking the thumbnail of the layer and editing it in the channels tab is not what I mean...

Take a gradient, from Red 100% Opacity to Blue 0% Opacity. After I saved the gradient as a PNG, how can I for example use the levels adjustment on the PNG's alpha channel?

If I open the image in After Effects there is an option to control the alpha channel. That's quite embarrassing if a video software can edit the alpha channel and an image software can't...

I've attached screenshots to demonstrate what I mean.

Photoshop :: Manipulating 3D Files In Timeline Panel?

Oct 12, 2012

create a short animation of the model rotating in 3-D space by using keyframes in the timeline panel.

1. I cannot drag the end of the layer to the right in order to increase the duration of my animation. The layer seems to be locked at 15 frames in length. How do I increase the duration of my 3-D layer so I can create a longer animation?

2. The bounding box for the model extends very far into z-space (much further than nesscessary to simply contain the model) which is making the object difficult to maniputale. How do I change the dimensions of the bounding box to more easily manipulate this model?

Photoshop :: Manipulating Small Font Size

Feb 28, 2006

How do you keep very small sized fonts looking good when manipulating them, as in using arc, skew, transform? I can manage this fine on bigger sized fonts, but when I want to make a very small font size arc (for ex to use on an avatar) it ends up looking blurry and not crisp and clean. tried pixel fonts but that was totally unreadable.

What I bring to the software is my background in studio arts 2D and 3D.  Photography is a tool to support both of these activities.  Over the years that skill has developed and I have many great photos.  The photos make me a little nuts now that I focus on digital.  In digitals photos I easily have over 60,000 photos.  I have some experience with Photoshop.  I won’t say I am a proficient but will say I have good skills in it.   I created my first logo in Photoshop.  Of course it is not vector and I know it should be vector.  I did it at no charge for a nonprofit.  I would still like to create a vector form of the logo.  Awhile back I purchased a book titled “Illustrator CS5 on demand”.  It breaks it down in a way that Illustrator is less intimidating.  It has renewed my interest in Illustrator.  How do I more effectively merge all of these tools and skills?  How do I bring what I know to Illustrator’s table? I know there are great possibilities here if I can learn to build vector graphics.

Photoshop :: Manipulating Eyes And Lips On A Bunch Of Images

Nov 20, 2012

I have a number of images (faces) that I want to use for 3D texturing, but to use them, I need to do a few things:

1)  open the eyes wider (whenever the subject is squinting);
2) Flatten the lips into a neutral position if smiling or frowning
3) Close the lips so teeth are not showing at all if the subject had mouth open (talking or smiling)

Best ways to do this in Photoshop (CS6) or if I'm better off using a different program. I'd like to keep things as 'photo realistic' as possible, though doesn't really have to be perfect - just don't want jagged edges or cartoon appearance.

Photoshop :: Manipulating Text Over Crumpled Paper Texture?

Mar 29, 2011

I need to create the effect of crumpled paper WITH text on it. The image should look like somebody typed a letter on a typewriter, and then crumpled it up and opened it up again. It's easy enough to do the crumpled paper effect, but I'm having difficulty making the text conform to the myriad creases of the crumpled paper, so that it looks like the text actually was crumpled (because, after all, the text is now part of the paper).

I have tried a bunch of blending methods, but am having no luck. Do you think this might be a manual warping job?

AutoCad :: Uploading And Manipulating

Dec 12, 2013

I have AutoCAD 2011. A previous employee of this company made a dwg that had a road map overlaid with some polygons representing areas of this or that. The road map was made of lines, polylines, etc. As I hovered the mouse over the roads they highlighted as if to be edited. My co-worker insisted that there was no way he drew the map and must have uploaded it.

The reason I am asking is a current project we have has many maps available as pdfs and other formats. I know how to upload a pdf as a back drop but do not know how I can upload anything not a dwg that can be edited or changed.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Editing And Manipulating A 3D Spline?

Jun 19, 2013

In Vers 2013, IV finally added the ability to manipulate a [3D] spline by dragging the control handles (way behind the curve on this one).

However, dragging "a" control handle causes several of the other control handles to shift as well.  Puts a big limit on the ability to customize yout path.  Splines are supposed to be one of the unrestricted free form tools for modeling.

Is there any way to turn this "feature" off ?   I need and should be able to have discrete control on each control handle.  (I had this way back in SW)

Also, there is no 'axis' for the control points unless you count the const lines that connect the control points and I don't.  I should be able to select an axis and be able to shift the direction and level of influence of each side of the control point axis.

GIMP :: Manipulating Image - Lasso Tool Won't Deselect

Oct 29, 2011

I have an image, I was manipulating it, smudging etc. Then I selected the lasso to crop out the image. Then I wanted to go back and blur something else. But it wont let me. The lasso'd section of the image stays flashing, even when I double click it to stop it. I am stumped as to how to exit this function. I don't know why it doesn't just switch to blur when I press the BLUR button.

How can I get this to stop? It keeps interrupting my edits and I now have to do it all over again in a separate window as no matter how many times I undo the lasso section will not stop flashing!

GIMP :: Record Action Feature - Manipulating Several Pictures

The one thing I can't seem to figure out is holding me back from using GIMP exclusively, and that is the Record Action feature. I have to manipulate about 100 pictures per day - simply resize a picture to 6x4" @ 300 dpi, save it, resize again at 100 dpi, put a 10 pixel; black border around it and save it to another directory. I can do this to a hundered picitures in about a minute with PhotoShop, but it takes quite a while with GIMP.

Illustrator :: Selecting And Manipulating Locked Child Objects

Jun 21, 2012

In CS5, when you have locked objects within a group or layer, you can still select the whole group/layer at once.  And with the group/layer selected, any transform/cut/etc will affect everything in the group/layer, including the locked objects.

But in CS6, it seems that you cannot select entire group/layer with locked objects -- the "selection circle" in the Layers panel will not show the double circle.  And if you manipulate the group/layer now, only the unlocked objects within it will be affected; the locked objects will stay the same.

How can I revert back to CS5's behaviour?

AutoCAD LT :: Can't Copy / Paste Between Drawings/ Incomprehensible Heavy Drawings

Dec 28, 2012

I'm using ACAD LT 2008.

When i try to copy paste some drawing entities from a heavy drawing file to any other file, the program blocks and says 'not responding', endlessly. So i always have to shutdown the program. I experience the same problem using the designcenter: when I try to copy a layout into another drawing, my computer gets stuck.

Another annoying problem with these files is that they are so heavy, while in fact they shouldn't be. I tried the aectoacad file command. In result the file id half as big, but after I open it and save it, again is the original size.

AutoCAD LT :: Publish Drawings To Overwrite Existing PDF Drawings

Apr 2, 2013

Every now and then I go back and try to use publish to speed up printing but I always go back to plotting one by one.

I work in a housing construction office and I have 10 separate drawings side by side in model space for house plans that I need plot separate to give to certain people. My problem isn't that I can't publish them separately its that I can't save them over existing pdf's individually predetermined.

Q1. do i just have to go through and change every layout name before or after i publish?

Q2. how do i change the output publish location?

Q3. can each layout be saved to a different existing pdf and remember it?

Q3. can i save these setting across to a new drawing?
