AutoCad 2D :: Restore / Convert Antique Drawings Of Ancient Boats And Sailplanes
Feb 24, 2012In my 2D drawings I use a lot of splines. I restore/convert antique drawings of ancient boats and sailplanes in/to Autocad 2012. I use these drawings as a raster image and draw precisely over the handcrafted lines. So these original drawings contain a lot of hand shaped (organic) formes that go through, by dimension defined, fitpoints (so as indicated on the original plan) and are tangent to other lines elsewhere in the plan.
As I draw a lot of these splines, I want to manipulate the default settings in order to save time and effort.Is there a way in Autocad 2012 to increase the weight, by default, of a vertex point in such a way so that the vertex point becomes a fit point by itself? What is the maximum value to give to a vertex point? Does it become a fit point then?
When a fitpoint and a vertex point coincide, how to keep them stay that way; that means relocate both at the same time when editing the spline, and not one seperately.
I don't want to see these splines to leave the points they absolutely should go through as I clicked them when drawing the spline. I want splines to be smooth, and to stay smooth even after replacing fit points or vertici. And I don't have the time to re-re-re-re-refine every single spline I draw, as I draw so many. I've tried so hard to fix this problem, but I can't, probably because of incompetence.
GIMP :: How To Reduce Bright Patches In Photos
Feb 29, 2012I've been playing with gimp a lot to edit my photos and how to reduce bright patches in photos that have bright spot that kinda take over the photo. I am using Gimp and cannot retake the photo.
Here is what I did.
1. I outlined my body and took away 100% of the blue, this makes the black look cleaner in my opinion.
2. I then inverted the outline and reduced the blue for the rest of the photo by 50% giving the white a cleaner look.
3. Then I outlined the bright area of snow below my feet and lowered the brightness.
4. I highlighted the sky from the mountain base up and increased the blue by 100% twice.

Photoshop :: Time Sensitive Batch Color Balance
Dec 30, 2011I work in crop research and have written a code to analyze an RGB image and determine if a pixel is senescence, crop, residue/soil, or shadow. However, this only works if the color is balanced in an image.
I do not know what the technical definition of balanced color is, but to me it relates to the RGB curves one can see in the curves mask. Over the last 5 years a colleague of mine has taken thousands of photos that I need to analyze with my system, unfortunately some have blue hues, some are overexposed, and some are just flat.
Is there any way to apply ratios or mathematical equations to the curves panel so that all images have a similar balance that will work with the code I wrote?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Sending Drawings Containing XREFs With Sensitive Data
Aug 28, 2013I have drawings which are occasionally transmitted to vendors, building officials and other parties.  These drawings contain XREFs for the floor plans, roof plans, site plans, etc. Some of these XREFs contain layers with sensitive information the client does not want distributed to third parties.Â
If I'm just sending a PDF or plotting locally the sensitive layers are turned off or frozen and the PDF is plotted without layers. This is sufficient to protect the sensitive data. But if the third party requests a CAD file then I have a problem.
If I use Send to create a package of dependent files including XREFs they are included whole with all of the sensitive data on frozen layers.
If I Bind the XREF to a copy of the drawing for distribution the sensitive layers are still included as frozen layers.Â
In either case I am confronted with the task of deleting a large number of layers and we all know what a chore deleting layers with content can be. There has to be a solution to this problem, either an easier way to delete layers or a way to filter them in the binding process. Currently I am removing the XREF and making a block of the essential layers each time I have to make a distribution but these are large and complex drawings making this a chore as well.
Arguably this would be much simpler if AutoCAD had a better method for removing layers such as offering to a. move all contents to layer 0, b. delete all layer contents or c. cancel instead of just telling me I can't delete the layer because there are contents like we're still using R12.

GIMP :: Cut Down On Time Watermarking Photos
Nov 16, 2012How to cut down on my time watermarking my photos. Currently I am opening a photo, adding text, rotating text, duplicating the text layer, then moving each layer to the top left and bottom right corners. Surely there must be a way to make this process quicker?

Aug 12, 2012I'm trying to make a time-lapse video from pictures I took of my kid.
The photos aren't well aligned, so I had tried the jpegs as multiple layers. I cropped, rotated, and scaled each successive picture so that it would be best aligned with the previous one. I then tried saving as a gif. The colors were messed up due to the color conversion. If I could export as a video format, that would be ideal, then I wouldn't have to convert the colors and could compress the file. I'm using windows 7, 64 bit, and GIMP 2.6, GAP didn't seem compatible with windows 7.
There are quite a few photos that I'm aligning, so the layers method seems the easiest. There are other programs which could take the aligned pictures individually and put them together, but I'd need a way to export the layers as individual files.
Lastly, I'd like to see what "morphing" one picture to the next would look like. I assume that would depend on what method I use to put the photos together.
GIMP :: Pen Input Is Not Pressure Sensitive?
Jul 19, 2013I use GIMP 2.8.4 and ThinkPad X230 tablet with Windows 7.
The pen input is not pressure sensitive. All I see is a box that is titled Dynamics and displays Pressure Opacity. It's in Normal mode.

After looking at numerous tutorials, I spent a day customizing a brush that would respond well to my tablet's innate pressure sensitivity. The brush worked perfectly that day! Since then, however, I've needed to customize my brushes everyday, and mess with my tablet until the brushes actually respond to pressure sensitivity.I guess the big question is: how do I cause Gimp to recognize my tablet as being pressure sensitive each time I launch it?

Lightroom :: How To Change Capture Time Of Multiple Photos To Specific Time
Feb 2, 2014I'm trying to change "capture time" of multiple photos to a specific time.

I know that there is "Edit Capture Time" feature under Metadata. But when I try to edit multiple photos, it says that "Modify the capture time stored in the selected photos by entering the correct time adjustment for the photo displayed to the left. Other photos (but not vidieos) will be adjusted by the same amount of time". And it really does.
Â
For example,
If A file's capture time is 1/11/2011
B file's capture time is 1/11/2012
C file's capture time is 1/11/2013
I would like to change their capture time to 1/11/2014. All the three files.

But the current "Edit Capture Time" feature of Lightroom just adds three years to each file like this:

A file's capture time -> 1/11/2014
B file -> 1/11/2015
C file -> 1/11/2016
So their capture times remain as different ones. And this is not I want...

I've googled a lot and tried several programs other than lightroom as well, but the "Capture time" recognized by lightroom could not be changed by other programs.
AutoCAD 2010 :: How To Convert Survey Drawings From Standard Font To TTF
May 26, 2013We have just recently updated our templates to use a new TTF font. We are a multi national office, and are running various machines in both Australia and China. We are all using windows 7. Autocad are all full versions but vary between 2010 and 2012.
We are trying to convert survey drawings from a standard font to the ttf, but for some reason, in the Chinese office only the decimal points disappear after the conversion. The same drawing when sent to the Australian office works fine and the decimal points are there. What to try here, as I am in Australia and can't even reproduce the issue the chinese office is having.

I have 400KB png, when I save the same image at home in GIMP as jpg it becomes smaller, but if I save it as png it becomes about 2MB - this is huge compared to photoshop
If I use the save for web plugin, the results are the same for jpgs, but if I save as 24bit png the image suddenly becomes 2.5MB. Why are PNGs in GIMP so large?
PS: I use windows vista, in case this matters.
