View 2 Replies View RelatedIn CS5 and prior versions of PS, you could "make a straight line of points in a curve". After opening the curve dialog box, draw a straight line with the pencil tool and then click the wavy icon above the pencil tool icon (edit points to modify the curve) and it would automatically place 9 equidistant points on the curve. With CS6, it only places 3 points. Any way to get 9(or at least multiple) points placed?
View 9 Replies View Relatedmake a pixelated looking curve? I'm looking to draw a curving line, but would like no diagonals, so that it looks as if I have drawn with only straight, horizontal lines as if snapped to a grid. Is there a modification in brushes for this? In this pic, see where the lines step around the curve and arent smooth? That's what I want to do without drawing in each individual line.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhat I'm in the process of doing is creating shapes in Sketchup and exporting them as 2D images. Obviously, those images have a lot of "dead" space around them that I would like to reduce.
I'm able to select a rectangle selection tool and select my image, with the goal of pasting it into a new image which will have much less "white" space around it. My question, is there a more precise way of doing this? I need to cut out an even pixel space, for example, a 128 x 64 (both sides need to be even), how do I know what is the size I'm cutting out? And sometimes it's hard to do correctly do it with my mouse, is there a way to adjust the selection borders with the keyboard instead?
How to draw a tangent to any curve(basically a spline).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to write a script to draw geometric figures in Illustrator.I want to achieve this by writing an equation into the ESTK, for example x^2 + y^2 =100. This should generate a circle with a radius of 10 units.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used polyline to trace a tree trunk. I wanted it to be just a series of line segments which I was going to export to AutoCAD and then to Sketchup. However, each segment I drew said it was a curve. When I exported to AutoCAD it came in as a spline. If I convert that to lines, where I had maybe 10 lines there are now 100.
I also tried to 2 point line tool. I started each new line from the end of the previous. It gave me the same result.
Is there a way for me to end up with just the 10 line segments? No spline. No curve. Just 10 straight lines.
I have a curved path I imported into Illustrator, and I'd like to draw a line perpendicular to the curve at a particular point. I've searched google and this forum, but can't find any description of how to do it. Corel Draw has a button that lets you do this, so I'm hoping something similar exists in Illustrator...
i'm currently just calculating the angle at the point I want using the derivative, finding the angle, and then adding 90 degrees to it. But I need the line to be placed at a particular point, and the X/Y properties of the line are based on the ruler which isn't even in the center of the document (I want to position it relative to the artboard). As in, I just want to set the position of one endpoint of the line...
I am doing a project where we should detect center of object and automatically draw lines in all directions example: Lets consider a rectangle, locate center of rectangle and draw lines on all directions.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am now working for an oil company, nd we do arather a lot of work involving lifting plans with chain hoists etc.
My question is, is there any way of make a linetype that automatically draws chain. At the moment, i have to manually draw a link, and copy and paste with basepoint to the reuired length, and then "block" it. however, when we come to alter these drawings, they are a nightmare to alter all the chain sections.
If there was a way of developing a linetype that automatically made these chains, it would speed things up so much.
I have the list of x,y coordinates for the CIE colour spectrum. How do I import the list so as to draw the spectrum curve?? The curve is the horseshoe shaped curve shown in the figure below [not the straight lines which are colours boundaries] that contains all the spectrum colours. Seems to me I should be able to import the list somehow and CorelDraw would then produce the line.
View 10 Replies View RelatedIf my SNAP is turned OFF it automatically turns itself ON when i draw some linework. It keeps doing this in certain 2D only cad files. As a temporary fix i have tried to set my snap spacing to .0001 to keep the crosshairs running smoothly but they still appear excessively jumpy at about 1 unit. This only happens in plotable drawings that contain a certain 2D xref and the offending xref itself. If i unload all the xrefs the problem DISAPPEARS, although this doesn't let me draft any easier!
My OSNAP is working fine although it does reset itself when i have been using certain LISP routines.
FYI, if I open the same drawing on another users computer the SNAP stays off and the crosshairs run smooth.
When I wish to select a detail within an image and right click to make the selection Photoshop CC automatically selects the inverse of the image, including the entire canvas. The edges of the canvas are not always visible when working in close-up. This has resulted in some close calls when appling color or airbrushing.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI'm starting to get fairly comfortable with the new shake reduction tool in CC and the results are fantastic. It's already saved several old photos that I had given up on as hopelessly motion blurred. Now that I'm getting familiar with the tool though, I have a question. I know the tool allows for multiple blur traces to be created. How are they used, and won't they conflict with one another. If part of the image is more blurred than another, or blurred in a slightly different direction, won't the corrections applied from the blur trace determined by one part of the image actually further blur the parts of the image where that blur trace doesn't apply (and isn't the same true of the second trace then)? how the tool handles multiple traces? Are they applied locally with diminishing effect as the distance from the measurement region increases? Are they applied in some other smart fashion?

I created this logo in Illustrator. I made my basic shapes with a pen tool, put a vector grunge texture over the top of the shapes and then used "make opacity mask" to get my grunge effect. As you can see in the screenshot of my illy it is all very clean and looking like it should. When you open my other picture you can see that once I transferred (cmd+copy cmd+paste) the logo into PS you can now see faint lines of where the shapes used to be *highlighted in red*. I also tried placeing the .ai file in ps but got the same effect. I am using all pantone colors on the logo, both documents are set to 300 dpi....err I cant think of anything else. PS is in RGB, Illustrator is in CMYK (but using Pantone)
How do I get my logo to look as good in PS as it does in Ilustrator?
I am trying out 2012 and I keep noticing the selection brackets turning themselves on. Especially when toggling from wireframe back to shaded mode. I know about J hot key, but I don't feel like hitting f-3, J every time I toggle wireframe. Once I toggle something off, I expect it to stay off.. How to make this behave the way it used to ?

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to freeze/lock selections from all layers other then current layer automatically-like we do in Photoshop where no object other then selected layer is select able.
I have to switch layers quite often and not want to select objects from any layer other then current layer. but for this i have to first freeze the previous layer and then unfreeze the current layer and so on.
Wether it's possible to spread the pixels colors considering the normal vector of the selection curve ?
I post an image that would be the approximate result of what i imagine.
I have created a piece of artwork in illustrator which is to be printed 4x3m for a wall mural. Therefore the file I am working with must either be a vecor or a large enough raster to be printed at such as size. I have set it up at 1 to 10 so its currently A3ish size. Each component of the collage is a separate ai file and contains many points as they are all live traces. It was no problem linking in all these initially but I now need to embed them so as I can give the printers a complete file. I have succeeded embedding every image apart from one last complex one which is crashing the whole thing. Are there any settings I may be able to change to reduce the file size or simplify the graphic (whilst remaining vectors.) Below is the file with the linked images and also the outline of the embedded version so far. The problem I am having is basically because of the final output size required.
The only thing I can think of doing is opening each separate component and saving as a raster then relinking these - but will this be even more problematic for illustrator that thousands of vector points? I can do it in photoshop if needs be but as the final image is to be printed 4x3m will this be too large to handle? The ai file with all images linked was 25MB but now 500MB with the sky still to embed.
I did something and I'm not sure what. But my selection tool has changed. Now when I try to alter the length of a clip in a timeline, it automatically switches to the rolling edit tool with the 2 arrows on either side of a line. If I try to just grab the end of a clip it also drags the end of the clip beside it as well. It affects inserts and almost anything I do. I can't figure out how to return my selection tool to normal.

I selected user define for the Tc to figure out Q. i computed those manually.
For the Inlets I have selected Maximum Capture Cutoff.
There are some inlets in this model I created that do not capture 100% of the flow so i created conveyance links to account for the bypass flow. Not sure why is not recognizing the Curve?
Why in LR4 is the Tone Curve default set to Custom with a contrast lowering curve? I would like the default to be linear, but I can't remember how I set that up in LR3.
