View 2 RepliesI used polyline to trace a tree trunk. I wanted it to be just a series of line segments which I was going to export to AutoCAD and then to Sketchup. However, each segment I drew said it was a curve. When I exported to AutoCAD it came in as a spline. If I convert that to lines, where I had maybe 10 lines there are now 100.
I also tried to 2 point line tool. I started each new line from the end of the previous. It gave me the same result.
Is there a way for me to end up with just the 10 line segments? No spline. No curve. Just 10 straight lines.
I have a curved path I imported into Illustrator, and I'd like to draw a line perpendicular to the curve at a particular point. I've searched google and this forum, but can't find any description of how to do it. Corel Draw has a button that lets you do this, so I'm hoping something similar exists in Illustrator...
i'm currently just calculating the angle at the point I want using the derivative, finding the angle, and then adding 90 degrees to it. But I need the line to be placed at a particular point, and the X/Y properties of the line are based on the ruler which isn't even in the center of the document (I want to position it relative to the artboard). As in, I just want to set the position of one endpoint of the line...
What would be the easiest way to create a 3-dash line for a drawing?
I have a user with a need for a 3-dash line. Like a phantom line but with 3 dashes.
I know how to edit the pen-up, pen-down settings in a .lin file. But then what would be the best way to handle the new line when it is sent to the client? Would I need to create a custom line file and sent it with the .dwg files or could I edit the acad.lin file? Would the receiver run into problems with missing linetypes?
I can not get rid of the phantom2 line type in my drawings.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMany is the time that I need to have hidden, or dashed lines added to a drawing. I do this by putting LTYPE in the command line then loading the dash or hidden line that I want. The problem is that long after I have done this, I get a dashed line on any line that I attempt to draw. Even if I dimension something, the arrows and lines are also dashed lines. I go back into Modify Properties and LTYPE and attempt to delete the line types that I have added and I am not allowed to delete them.

View 1 Replies View Relatedmake a pixelated looking curve? I'm looking to draw a curving line, but would like no diagonals, so that it looks as if I have drawn with only straight, horizontal lines as if snapped to a grid. Is there a modification in brushes for this? In this pic, see where the lines step around the curve and arent smooth? That's what I want to do without drawing in each individual line.

I am trying to write a script to draw geometric figures in Illustrator.I want to achieve this by writing an equation into the ESTK, for example x^2 + y^2 =100. This should generate a circle with a radius of 10 units.
View 1 Replies View Related1. if i draw a line using the line tool.. can i curve it to say 40 degrees like i can with the text function?
2. So ya that one was easy.. hows bout when i want to cut something out ACCURATELY, the pen function, right? (according to a friend)when i make all those little boxes and select the area i want to cut, all that gets copied are the outer lines, which i presume is what ive just drawn.. how do i cut the area inside this?
3. and finally maybe a slightly less easy one- In Paint, when you cut out an object and paste it, you can select for the white of the image to become transparent so you can paste over what you have already.. is thee a feature in PS for this?
I have a problem with a recently downloaded version of Inventor. When I start a new drawing all I get is a blank blue screen instead of one with a grid display. If I start a line I can see the cursor change to draw the line but a line does not appear. I don't know if it something with how I installed the program or just system settings.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI don’t know if there is some way to draw, or somehow to say to AutoCad that it let me to input measurements from line but not from main base pint.
For example in Revit I can make angular dimension between lines and then apply any angle that I want, maybe AutoCad has such tool?
I was drawing a lot of lines with the pointer that stuck at the end of the line and after that it stuck at the beginning of the other line (i hope you understand what i mean). I don't know what i pressed but now this function is not active and is very difficult to draw the lines.

The curve is the horseshoe shaped curve shown in the figure below [not the straight lines which are colours boundaries] that contains all the spectrum colours. How to make a dotted curve ?
Of course, I don't want to use hand-drawings with the brush.
In PSCS5 and earlier, I used to be able to make a straight line of points in a curve by placing 9 points on the straight line curve. I did this by drawing a small straight line at the bottom of the curve using the pencil tool and then clicking the curve point icon.
I can't seem to do this with CS6.

How can I do this? Also how am I able to adjust the line thickness?
