two of my colleauges opened a photoshop file at the same time and both could make changes. Saving the file kills one person's changes, which actually shouldn't be possible. How can this be avoided?

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy working company currently practicing multiple user per pc. The autocad can run smoothly during the 1st time windows user account setup. But later on, after few days it start crash. The app will load and run but just for doing simple thing such draw lines, polilines n such. When i want to access the task panel, it crashed. Same if wan to load application, lisp etc. It only work fine under the user account which it is installed in. My user account have the administrative privilege and i'm running Windows XP platform (x32).

"Could not load the user measurement data point presets file because the file name was not valid."
and "Could not load the user measurement scale presets file because the file name was not valid."
I got some psd files and when I open them it says "Reading Photoshop Format",and takes long time showing the progress status. It was not like that before.I always open that kind file every day and never get that message. Now I am getting. Why?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter getting Vault installed on our server and successfully setting up users and connections, I used the Library Transfer Guide to move our Content Center (including custom) to the Vault. I then changed the Inventor Application Options -> Content Center -> Access Options to Autodesk Vault Server.
This seems to have worked, as I can Place from Content Center when in an assembly, and it is pulling standard content as well as our custom files properly from the vault. However, in the instructions that I used for the installlation, it was suggested to stick with a standard folder structure within the Vault, namely two Library Folders named 'Content Center Files' and 'Libraries' and also a regular folder named 'Designs'.
I created those folders prior to transferring the library, as I thought they would be populated with the standard/custom content. This was not the case and I am curious when these folders come into play? *they are empty*
Also, today I will be attempting to 'Check In' a project to the Vault that I recently completed; does this usually maintain structural relationships between files?
Would you recommend using a single project structure in vault for two people? It seems, since we won't be working on the same project at the same time, having a single project would not be relavant to our situation..

Why on ocassion Inventor tells me that the file I am working on is checked out by another user and that I cant save the changes. I find this a bit bizzare as I am the only person in the office using inventor although it is installed in other machines.I realise that all I have to do is steal the checkout, but I would really like to understand why it does this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I open a RAW file in CS6 (at 16-bit depth) it crashes, so I am unable to open RAW files after editing in Camera Raw. The RAW files open OK in Camera Raw and I can edit them, but then opening them from Camera Raw into Photoshop (by clicking on Open Image) causes a crash.
Further background: I also had CS3 (the entire suite concurrently) installed. Thinking that might be a problem, I removed all of CS3 using the Adobe Uninstaller tool to see if that would work. Then I re-installed Photoshop CS6 from scratch and then downloaded and installed all updates.
CS6 still crashes every time I open a RAW file if I open it as 16-bit. If I open a .DNG file directly from Photshop (without using Camera Raw), that crashes too. I'm opening them into Photoshop using Adobe RGB (1998), 16-bit, 3456 x 5184 (17.9 MP), 300DPI.
Thinking it might be a memory issue, I checked free RAM using Activity Monitor and I see it has 3.4 GB free with both CS6 and Bridge open, which should be plenty. However I do see by looking in the crash report from the system log (portion included below), that it appears the crash may have resulted from a failed MALLOC (memory allocation).
Here's the kicker: oddly, when I open the file up in Photoshop at 8-bit depth, it works fine.

"This file is already open for editing by another user. You will be unable to save any changes before that user closes the file."
Since I am working on the project alone there are no other users who could have the file open. I don't know why I'm getting this message.
I have a friend that is having a hard time saving files as .eps in InDesign, Illistrator and PhotoShop when using a Mac. She is able to create the file and save it so she should have full ownership and read/write rights to the file. Yet when she opens the file, edits it and saves it again, she gets a pop-up stating "Cannot save the illustration. You do not have enough access privileges - ID 5000". The user is the owner of the file. How would she not have access privileges? When she saves the file as an .ai, pdf, or jpg, there is no problem. She also has no problem saving the file on a Windows PC.

I've some user-defined iProperties in my idw-file. As soon as I set the file to "read-only" (via explorer RMB->properties) these iProperties are not shown on the drawing sheet when i open the drawing. ow to abandon this effect?

Error Message reads "The file is open for editing by another user. If you open the file, you cannot save changes until the user closes is. In this case, your changes will overwrite the user's changes. What do you want to do?"
The file is NOT open by another user though.
I realize LT does not allow worksharing, but I assumed that was multiple users working on the same file at the same time. We need to open files one at a time, but by different users.
We are working in revit server with two clients . recently we installed one more Lacal server and i checked the speed and all but whenever i try to open heavy file ( 300 Mb file ) from revit server it giving error after some time that server not responding and not open the file . but i checked 15 to 30 mb file it working in same server . Is there any way to easily determine if any file in a user's workspace is checked out from Vault?
I'm building an Inventor addin to clear files from a user's workspace. Before i delete any files I need to know if the user has any files checked out. I was hoping there was an easy way(inside of Inventor) to programmitically check if a folder contains any checked out files.

working on one big file with Vault/multultiple user scenario?
Lets say you design a car and having the frame and the body you have different guys that come in and do electrical, fuel system, so on... They need to work with the frame and the body doing their parts, since thats the reference for them.
But only one guy can check it out. We try the approach that one system is an entire independent assembly inserted into the top assembly but its not perfect.
Everytime I open a new file or old document my screen is black. There is no paper space, nothing.

I want to make a macro that can go into part edit, allow user to select a vertex, and then automatically set up the constraint. Initially I wanted to do this in a single macro, using this short piece of code

While this worked when run directly from VBA, if I call it as a macro in Autodesk itself, the DoEvents doesn't seem o work because I wasn't able to make any selection at all. I googled and it seems like this is just how macros are.
So I split the code into a 2 subs and a function (as attached), and put them into separates rules that I call using a form in Autodesk. The first sub "Meta1Pin1_1" works, then I would select a vertex in edit mode. But when I go ahead and call the second sub "Meta1Pin1_2", I get the error message that I created which says no vertex is selected. But if I select a vertex and call the second sub again, it will work.
So I've been trying different things and I realize that every time when I first call the second sub, my selection is erased teh moment it goes into the sub. But, for some unknown reason, the selection will remain when I call it the second time. I can't figure out what exactly happened between the first and second call of the same sub, that allowed the selection to remain.
