I downloaded the reg key and installed it. When I restarted PS to test it on a file, there was no difference in either save time or file size. The test file is a 300 MB multi-layered PSD file.
Does anyone know how to disable save function in a pdf file?
I have converted a word doc into pdf file, however, i don want people to save the pdf file, hence i would like to disable the save/save as buttons.
When saving as a .png file, there is an option to enable/disable "save resolution". What is this option for? I've tried Googling, but no luck due to many unrelated search results.

Is it possible to apply the effect without having to cut/trim the original clip. The clip properties are as follows;

I'd like to know if the new CS6 Preference which allows users to "Disable Compression of PSD and PSB files" applies to 8 bit files.

The reason I am asking is that the DisallowFlateCompressedPSD registry change for CS5, which disables compression of PSD and PSB files does not work for 8 bit files (it only works for 16 bit and 32 bit files)I work on large 8 bit files (4-8GB) and would like to know if CS6 would allow me to disable compression on those files.
I found several methods to alter the regen times, but not ways to SPEED them up.For example: I switch from layout tab to layout tab and my regen time can be up to 30 seconds (I know, doesn't sound long, but it's killing me).How do I speed this up??

Where i work, we always need to save an AI file and a PDF file. So is there a way I can set up my Illustrator so everytime i save something, it'll save the AI file and automatically create the PDF too? ..

I have a video recording of an event with not so good audio, but also a separate high quality audio recording. The problem is that the audio recordign speed is not the perfect match to the video recording, and when I put them in overlap, audio runs about 2-3 seconds quicker than the video by the end; seems real bad.
the obvious solution is to adjust the speed of the audio to match the length of the video; sounds easy.
One small problem is that the audio recording and the video recording were not perfectly synced, so the audio has some superfluous part at the end, so all in all the situation is as below:
Video track length: 1:57:16
Audio track length 2:14:20 with a lot of wasted part at the end
Current length of the Desirable Audio track: 1:55:15; this is the part which should in fact finish at 1:57:16 to match the video.
Below is what I did:
1- Clipped the audio at 1:55:15, Let us call the first part of the audio (the desirable one) Audio A, and the remaining part, Audio B
2- Deleted Audio B from the audio track
3- Pressed shift and dragged Audio to match the length of the video hoping that it will speed the audio track perfectly to cover the 2 seconds gap
4- Played the audio clip to see if it worked; Result: weird. Instead of keeping the track contents as it is and only changing the speed, it somehow resurrected some contents from the Audio B. I thought I had deleted that . So now it plays the same length as the video, but with added audio contents at the end, so the problem remains where it was.
5- Pressed undo, to instead try the Speed / time-lapse dialog on Audio A. Right clicked audio A, clicked on Speed / Time-lapse and entered the time for which it should play directly.
6- played the audio clip to see if it worked; Result: same as 4.
7- Pressed undo again, and tried reducing the speed this time instead of entering the exact time manually. Even 99% stretched the video way beyond the length of the video (as I expected) but strangely enough the contents from the deleted Audio B are still appended at the end.
8- This time tried to shrink the stretched audio to the length of the video by using Shift+drag. And it works perfectly for the stretched clip, but that had the audio contents from Audio B anyway. So the result is exactly the same as 4 & 6
.
9- Trying to delete the unwanted audio bits at the end of Audio A from Audio B, and then stretching the Audio A to the right length actually reduces the Audio A further down, deleting some part of the wanted audio too :S ... thus just turning the problem upside down ..
I am using Corel videoStudio X5 Pro with Service pack 1.
AI seems to take a long time to save a 4 MB file. Is there some setting to make save faster? I have linked images, not embedded.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI experimented with slow motion of a water fall video clip from Letchworth State Park of New York where we visited recently. The original clip is 1080p24fps. I used virtualdub, avisynth, mvtools method to change the video clip from 24fps to 96fps, and 144fps. This method smoothly builds additional frames between each of the 24fps appropriately and the method works great to create smooth slow motion that plays in VLC slowing the 96 and 144 clips fluidly slow. Inserting the three clips into VS works fine and play normally. Selecting the inserted 96fps clip, and slowing it by 25% plays jerky, and renders as 1080p24fps the same way. Same situation with the 144fps clip. I played with all the parameters: frame and % and I could not make VS X4 play the clips smoothly. I am hoping I don't understand how to use this new Time lapse/Speed feature. BTW, I also own Premiere Pro, and it does the slow down of these clips perfectly. EDIT: I just tried Microsoft Movie Maker that comes free from Microsoft, and it does the slow down correctly. I am thinking this is a problem with VS X4
I imported a number of Powerpoint slides into VideoStudio Pro X6 and am now recording voice audio for them. My problem is: I don't know how to stretch each slide's duration to match its audio. By default, all the slides came in with a 3 sec duration. I can increase each to a max of 6 sec, but that's not long enough for my audio.
I've dug around the internet and watched tutorials on Corel's site, but they don't work. Everything I've looked at (even page 60 in the User's Guide for X5) says that to change a photo's duration, double-click it and select "Speed/Time-Lapse" on the Edit screen.
When I double-click a photo, there isn't a "Speed/Time-Lapse" option on my Edit screen (see image). So how am I supposed to change the slide's duration?
Illustrator CC keeps crashing every time I try to save a file. My Creative Cloud is up to date, and I have a brand new iMac with 8GB Ram and the latest operating system. The average file size I've been working with is around 4MB, so not very big. I also make sure that I have as few programs opened as possible while I'm working in AI.

I've been talking to Apple Care every week, and even went back to the store to change my computer for a new one, but am still having problems.
Simply wondering how possible it is, because we've got roughly 2400 files that need to be re-saved without RLE compression due to causing issues in the conversion process. A manual job would take quite a while.
If there's no way of automating the process, is there any way of reducing the time of re-saving every image individually at all?
-I'm using LR 4.3 on a windows 7 x64 PC.
-I use one catalogue for each wedding/event/shoot.

-I import all my images as CR2 or DNG and work with these files in LR and Photoshop CS6.
-Once I complete the edits on a wedding, I'm left with , for example, 300 16-bit Uncompressed Tiff images in around a dozen different folders (I shoot big 600 pax + weddings sometimes).
-I want to: Re-save/Overwrite all these images as 8-bit Tiff images with ZIP compression.How can I do this?

-I've tried selecting all the images and Exporting them as 8 bit Zip Tiffs with the Overwrite Originals Without Warning tab selected. However I get the error that the file already exists and LR can do nothing about this.

-I've tried creating an Action in Photoshop but this poses two problems:
1) The photos are spread over multiple folders and selecting each one through File>Batch>Automate means the process requires manual intervention to reselect the next folder's tiffs - I want to hit the action, go eat lunch and come back to find them ALL saved.
2) The action acts outside of LR and I'd rather like to avoid 'metadata has been changed externally' errors although this isn't much of a biggie.

Why not just save the images as Zip Tiffs to begin with? I use a number of freelance retouchers , many of whom complain that the process of compressing slows their initial workflow (slower hardware).

what is the diffrence between these two pictures(the same picture both are .JPG images but the quality and size is diffrent)
i assume that they are saved with diffrent compression and encoding or sumthing like that.

I have CS3 extended and have been compiling a series of high resolution photographs into one layer in photoshop. I have copy and pasted each photo and then stitched them together resulting in a file that is 1.35Gb. I want to compress the file, keeping the resolution as high as possible, so it is easier to use in illustrator and import into ArcGIS. I have tried saving the file as a jpg, pdf and tiff with variable compression qualities. As soon as i open the image up in a different programme and zoom in I loose the picture, eitehr to a blank screen or a message saying 'invalid format/picture'. Opening the file and saving is taking so long too do as well...

After working on a jpg file, when I want to save it, still as jpg, with my Photoshop CS5,
- sometimes photoshop will just save the picture, and it's done
- sometimes photoshop will show me the compression dialog, "JPEG Options", in which I can choose the compression ratio, the format options (baseline, baseline optimized, progressive), and have an estimation of the total file size

While not being prompted any dialog is simpler, and I'll then simply assume Photoshop decides to retain the current image's compression and format rules, I must say I like to be in control, and I'd like to know under what form the file is being saved without having to resort to the much more complex "Save For Web" menu.

WHAT "triggers" the appearance of the JPEG Options when we close/save a jpeg file, in photoshop ? What makes this menu not to appear, what makes it appear ? If there are trivial file operations/changes/filters that necessarily trigger its appearance when we want to save, something like that ?

I have a software program that imports DXF files and converts them to its native format, so they can be used for simulations. I use ACad LT to convert DWG files to DXF for this purpose. Sometimes they don't import properly, so I may have to re-open and tweak the DXF several times to get it to import properly. (What can I say - the target application is published by the government; of course it has issues.) The point is that I often have to work extensively in the DXF format.
Every time I try to Save my changes, ACLT tries to save my DXF as a DWG. It pops up a Save As dialog (which I did not ask for) and defaults to a DWG - I have to go back down the list and re-find my DXF format. Every time. Every. Time. Then when I close the file (even if no changes were made since the last save) it pops up another dialog to ask me if I'm sure I wouldn't rather save the file as a DWG before exiting.
I'm running PSPX3. the effect of no compression (or compression factor = 1) on saving files. I've got a JPEG image file straight from my camera that's approximately 4.1MB in size. If I do nothing else but "Save As" with a compression factor of 1, the new file size is approximately 50% larger, or 6.2MB. What has changed to make the file size larger? Both images are still 72DPI, 3648X2736px. I can't image that I have done anything to "improve" image quality, so why did the file size increase?

When I save a file the "date modified" only on photoshop comes up as 8 hours behind.
I also use other programmes like 3D studio max and vray and the usual office suites, with no issue.
By working in millimetres instead of metres will slow things up with my file. My 0,0 point refers to the actual survey co-ordinates which I need to continue to use as regularly share my file with the surveyor and we need to be working on the same 0,0 point. Because I am working in mm 0,0 is therefore further from my drawing that it would be in m. Will changing to metres make a significant difference to me? My file has 34 layout pages and even more viewports which I would have to re scale if I changed the units in my drawings or is there a simpler way of doing this than rescaling the drawing by a factor of 0.001?
