Photoshop :: CS2 Tiff Files Crashing My Word
Mar 4, 2009I recently upgraded my Photoshop 7 to Photoshop CS2. I've been saving 1 bit line art tiff files for years with Photoshop 7 and there has never been this issue. When I save 1 bit TIF files with CS2, it crashes my word processing software. I'm saving it with all the same settings I used to save them with from v7. Is there some setting I'm missing that can fix this problem? I'm saving my files with the following settings
1 bit 300 dpi
LZW compression
Pixel Order - Interleaved
Byte - IBM PC
With the exception of the 'pixel order' setting, all the other settings are exactly the same. v7 doesn't appear to have that pixel order selection. I have tried many different combinations of these selections without success. I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
My word processor is Arbortext Epic Editor Version 4.1.
Photoshop :: Reduce Size Of TIFF Files
Jul 3, 2012I have a question about the size of tiff files. I start with RAW (NEF) photos from my Nikon D800. These files generally import at around 40MB each and I am using Lightroom 4 to keep track of them.
I'll use Lightroom's "Edit in PS" functionality, make a bunch of edits to the file in CS6, flatten all the layers, and then save the file (as a tiff). The original NEF file was ~40MB but the new tiff file (in this specific example) is over 200MB!
How can I get the file back to a reasonable size for storage? I don't want to have to save it as a jpg - I want to keep as much information as I can.

Photoshop :: TIFF Files When Cropped And (save As) Seem To Double In Size?
Aug 18, 2012Tif files when cropped and save as, seem to double in size. The crop tool is set at Unconstrained and the value boxes are empty.
e.g - Original 16bit Tif was 228.96 MB, 7304px x 5478px @ 300dpi, once cropped down to 7304px x 2390px @ 300dpi and saved as becomes 405.21 MB.
Using photoshop CS6 extended and OSX 10.7.4.

Oct 30, 2012I'm working as a cartographer at Port of Rotterdam and frequently work with big maps in Illustrator CS5. As soon as the file size exceeds 150 MB, and especially when small rasterfiles (mostly jpg's) are placed inside the document, either embedded or not-embedded, me and my colleague get notifications indicating "Can't show preview"or worse: The operation can't be concluded due to lack of RAM (dutch translation). This being a last warningsign just before CS5 collapses and it thus becomes impossible to make any Save on the document....
The hardware we work with: Quad Core 3GHz;NVidia Quadro 1GB;Windows XP with SP3, DirectX9; 8GB int. memory.

Photoshop :: CS6 Crashing When Trying To Open TIFF And JPEG Images
Jul 15, 2013I was trying to open an image that had already been processed by me in CS6 on this laptop.
When i select the image that i want to open CS6 launches but then i recieve an error message saying that CS6 is unable to open the image. Frustatlingly this does not happen with every image.
One person has said to reinstall the software but i downloaded it from the Adobe site and don't wnt to end up paying twice.

Jul 5, 2004I am cleaning up the Hard Drive on my Mac G4. My scanned images are taking a great portion of the 80 Gig drive. I finished clearing my external drive by removing nearly 60 gigs of images by storing them on DVD. I will do the same for the Mac drive.
My trouble is that all my images are stored in TIFF format which takes up enormous space no matter the storage. Since I output images in various sizes, mainly prints, to 30 x 40 inches, I need a master image archived in the best format for such. However, I do not want to fill my drives, or DVD, with large files. Code:

Nov 11, 2013I got over 160 color corrected RAW files from my photographer when I thought I was getting TIf or PSD files. I need to put them into an in design doc to send out for printing. Is there a way to convert all of these in one fell swoop without messing up the work that has already been done?
I didn't allow in my timing to save each one individually since i didn't know I was going to need to do this. I am really unfamiliar with batch processing, so how to best go about this, or if I even can. I am working in Photoshop CS6. version 13.06 x 64.

Oct 3, 2012CS6 keeps crashing and doing crazy things on me while working on my 2D/3D composite digital room setting. It seems to me like what's causing most of the crashing is the materials. Here's the problems:
- Crashes constantly while simply trying to select a material from the 3D panel
- Sometimes places meshes in a totally different spot in the scene and dissallows me to move them elsewhere
- Meshes are gone when opening the file, and I can't get them to reappear
I'm trying to stay composed at this point. My artwork would look great if, well, 3D in CS6 would simply WORK. But I'm remaining calm, and consulting you all..
I'm modeling, texturing, and UV mapping the 3D room objects (such as tables, chairs, hutches, etc.) in Maya 7, exporting as .obj files and placing into PS, and merging them with the scene layer in order for everything to have consistent lighting.I've also tried taking the 3D settings to Basic and the shadow quality to low, in case the crashes are due to cpu performance. I've also went and got the latest update for PS CS6

Oct 4, 2008My CS3 has been crashing every single time I work with a portrait style image... I don't have any other issues except this one.
I can open the raw file and edit it, but when I create a new canvas and move the file over into the new canvas it freezes and crashes... I can do the exact same thing with a landscape style image and it never even flinches. My computer easily meets the requirements to run CS3, so I don't know what the issue is since it only occurs with vertical images.

Apr 5, 2013For six years I have been using a Nikon D 200, shooting in raw data this has always produced a 15.5 MB file which, after processing in Photoshop 3and 5 has saved as a 28.74MB TIFF file with an image size of 3872 x 2592. Since sometime between Jan. and late march 2013 the size of the TIFF file has changed to approximately 16.5MB with the RAW file size, image size and print quality, at A4 size, remaining unchanged. Reprocessing a save 15.5MB RAW file that previously converted to a 28.74 Tiff file now converts it to a 16.31MB Tiff.

Oct 30, 2013I am trying to attach a number of tiff files to individual dwg files. There are about 300 so I am writting a script that will open a new dwg, insert the tiff and save the dwg at a given name, so i have filedia set to 0 and everything is user input.
The problem I am having is that when I use the iinsert command and enter the path for the tiff I get this error: (filename)was not found or is not valid. This is pathed to a network drive. When I copy the same folder to my c: drive and run the command everything works as should. is there any reason for this?

I noticed in the error message it cuts the end of the file name off. Is there a character limit?
I have done this before with a path to the network and everything worked as should. We have recently upgrade to 2013 but i would'nt think that would be an issue.
So basically, file on local drive everything inserts fine. File on network, get error.

Nov 21, 2013When you export from Illustrator CS6 or CC in TIF format, you are given the checkbox option of LZW compression, but the output file does not seem to be compressed. When I open this TIF file in Photoshop and do a Save As, selecting the LZW option produces a dramatically smaller file than the one produced by Illustrator.

I used the add a plotter wizard to get the Tiff version 6 plotter added to my plotters, and the tiff it puts out is only 4" x 3". I have tried scaling the picture, changing the paper size, looking through all the options in the layout tabs and plotting tabs. I can't get anything to work. My only options in for paper size in the plot menu are pixel sizes, I can't select paper size. I am using autocad 2005.

Due to unknown reason, when i tried to save the file in photoshop, and I was informed the file is non-accessible. Jun 24, 2008Photoshop 7 has suddenly started saving TIFF files without a preview or thumbnail. That is, I can't see the preview or thumbnail in Windows Explorer (Windows XP) or Windows Picture & Fax Viewer--which says "no preview available."
This just happened--I've just saved dozens of pics in TIFF with previews.
I tried resetting my Photoshop preferences--no change. In the File Handling Preferences, for Image Previews, "Always Save" is selected. When I save an image, in the "Save" dialog, "Thumbnail" is checked (and grayed out).
However, if I try to open a file from within Photoshop, in the Open dialog box, when I click on the file, I do see a preview.

Aug 25, 2011we have just upgraded to x5 and now i have a big problem exporting tiff:
I work for print,not web. lets say i have a 50x50 cm layout. default dpi of document is set at 300. if i want to export that as a tif, it defaults at 300dpi in the export dialogue. until now, in x4, if i checked the maintain aspect ratio and just changed the dpi to lets say, 150dpi, it would only change the % of the size, not the actual size of the tif! now it changes somehow to double the size! but i want the same size to remain! also cm is selected, so no reason for it to keep the number of pixels!. i have to uncheck the maintain aspect and recheck it again to put the correct value in the size.
Also, i work with big documents, is there a way to stop previewing the jpegs in the export as jpg dialogue?
