The following pop-up appeared.
'An error has been detected with a required application library and the product cannot continue. Please re install the application.'
I've deleted CS2 and re installed but with no success, just the same error.
Photoshop :: Activation Cannot Continue
Jan 19, 2008I purchased a new copy of PS CS2 and after install, I activate it and it says information was sent. Then a few seconds later I receive an error message:
"An error has been detected and activation cannot continue. Please restart your computer and reinstall application."
I have reinstalled at least six time, even once via SAFE MODE. I have installed via two different CD rom drives, I have followed all the suggested fixes and nothing seems to work.
I then installed on my laptop, and I receive the same error message.
I can, on both computers, open ImageReady CS2 and use it; it seems to be affecting only PS CS2.

Processor is a P4 3.4 Ghz
ATI X600 Video board
3gb RAM
Windows XP SP2
Viewsonic Digital Monitor
HP Laptop:
AMD 2.0 Ghz processor
ATI express 200 grapics board

Jun 16, 2008I'm running Photoshop Elements 5.0. Everything was working fine til this mornin. I've had the program for about a year now. When I tried to open it this morning I got this error message that popped up.
It says:
Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable.
I've tried repairing the program. That didn't work. Restarted my computer. That didn't work. Uninstalled the program and tried opening it again. That didn't work. I'm at a loss! I really need to get into my program b/c my work is there. I tried opening some of my files (they are located in my Pictures folder) and they pop up with the same message.

May 22, 2009I have just installed Photoshop CS2 on my new win VISTA HOME machine. There was no problems, I got a notification of a large update from ADOBE,
so I accpeted, shut down Photoshop, installed updates and then when I re-boot my machine and opened up Photoshop again, I got this error message. "Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable"

Feb 11, 2009It came in the retail box and the CD still had the seal on it. It looked very legit (not that it always means anything, I guess), but when I try to install it I get the message that an activation error was encountered.
Is this error a sign that I may have gotten bogus software? Is there a way I can verify if I have a legit copy or not?

May 23, 2009I bought a legit copy o photoshopAlbeit I bouhgt it from ebay, but it is definitely legit - not pirated , but a mfr sealed professionally produced copy of CS3 extendedI popped it open and found what I expected the documentation the DVD case with the training video and the serial number on the back. I installed CS3 extended and plugged in my serial number and was greeted with a shiny green check mark (please note this is not just some generic photoshop liscence it is recognized by the software itself). Then I began the activation nightmare that I am currently having. I clicked activateActivate nowThen I got an error telling me to pease try activating by calling customer care.I did that I went through the automated system with m serial numberand activation key and then it said it was unable to process so I retried. Still no luck, then I got a live person on the phone. Here is what they told me:You do not have a valid serial number...Odd, I thought, since your software recognized it as a valid liscence. I tried it in several other photoshop programs only to be greeted by a red x (liscence invalid) so the serial number I have is legit for photoshop CS3 extended, it just won't activate. I tried to tell them that. I asked them what proof they needed from me barcode copy of serial number scan of packaging anything. They told me I needed the reciept from an authorized reseller. I'm afraid I didn't see in the liscence agreement where the agreement between provider and end user was limited by their distributorship. Thank you to me too for buyinga legitimate copy and not going with a free alternative (paint.net as been fine in the past thank you).So I continued the discussion until I finally asked for a supervisor who was slightly more willing to talk about a way we could resolve the activation problem. I am stuck getting the original reciept from the seller to prove to Adobe that their product was in fact original purchased from them. You have to be kidding???!!!?!?!It is unactivated so we aren't even talking about a liscence transfer this product is supposed to be registered to me. And that still doesn't answer the question of how the serial number is recognized by the software and installation (meaning the serial to DVD matches) and the customer service people claim it is not valid. I even asked them to tell me if it was a liscence used as a known pirated copy or something that should invalidate it, but all they can tell me is that it is not valid for the product. If that is the case why print it on the label and affix it to the software?On the other hand perhaps it is just a database error on their part. What if I bought it from london drugs and lost the reciept how woul they handle that.

Aug 3, 2006MY photoshop was working fine up until a week ago. Then get gave me this error message. "Unable to continue because of hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable". The error pops up when photoshop is loading "building color convertion tables" or something to that effect. It is not the fonts becuase I have not installed any new fonts, have defraged my hardrive. I have used FontDoctor, and all my fonts are fine. The only thing that i did do is install the new directx june 2006, and the new NVIDIA drivers. I uninstalled my Nvidia drivers but problem still persists, please I am desparate for help, formating my hard drive is not an option. I have reset the prefs both via ctrl, atl and shift, and searching for the psp file and deleting it manually, same problem pops up. I installed Photoshop cs and I recieve the same error message. I can however run and use ImageReady.

Oct 14, 2013I have the latest version of Photo and Graphic Designer 9, and I have two .eps files that I cannot open because when I try to open them directly or import I get an error message that says that there is an error detected in the EPS file at line ####. These are files that I purchased and downloaded, and presumably they should not have errors. I don't have other software that is meant to open EPS files, so I cannot verify personally, but I do have reason to assume they are valid files. AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic Activation Error
Apr 28, 2010My computer would crash and reboot. I downloaded and installed the partner certified driver for my video card. (nvidia quadro fx 3450/4000 sdi) This solved the crashing problem, but now every time I open inventor i receive an ilogic activation error. I have reset my ribbon and that did not work.

Apr 1, 2009I have been re-saving many of my PSD files using CS3 image prosesssor with compatibility mode turned off. They have simply been saved again as PSD files into a different folder - no changes to the original PSD files. This has worked well and reduced file sizes by up to 50% (I had compatibility mode turned on previously).
of the 60 files I have processed, 3 will no longer open , I get a message that says "file will not open due to a program error."
these files have only ever been used in CS3. , they are quite large
from just under 1GB to 1.5GB, however other similar large files have processed successfully. I have re-tried without success.
I still have the original files so no data loss is involved.

May 6, 2013I'm using Gimp 2.8.4 on a MacBook Pro.
I have been working on an image file for several hours now, and as a result, there were MANY files open (probably over 30).
I attempted to save the file, and recieved the following error message:
"Could not read the contents of [folder name] Too many open files"
I then closed each of the open files except the file I was trying to save, but got the same results.
The same error message pops up when I try to open a file as well.

Sep 9, 2008I've been using PS since version 3. I currently run CS2 on Windows XP service pack 2. I've been using CS2 since it was first released. Now, all of a sudden, anytime I install or uninstall a program, whether it is related to Photoshop or not, when I start CS2 I get a window that says "You are not allowed to continue because your account does not have the proper privileges" and the program aborts. The first time this happened and after I had restarted CS2 for the 4th time it started normally. Since then it requires at least one restart (not reboot)after the error and then CS2 starts normally. Anyone have any idea of what is going on here? The first time it happened was right after I had installed a new HP AIO printer and I thought that may have had something to do with it. However, I have installed a couple of other programs and uninstalled another, none of them related in any way to CS2, and I get the error the next time I run CS2. I have found some posts about this but no answers, and most of the posts were related to Vista, not XP.

When I try to run it, I get a message in a window titled "Adobe Activation" saying: "You are not allowed to continue because your account does not have the proper privileges. Please log in using an account with administrator privileges and try again."
I am logged in as an administrator and have installed all my applications using the same login. Though the version I have installed is not yet registered, I am unable to even get to the registation screen as once you click OK on the dialogue, Adobe Photoshop closes.

Solution: run Photoshop CS5 in 32-bit mode:
1. Quit Photoshop CS5.
2. Navigate to Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS5 folder.
3. Select the Adobe Photoshop CS5 application file.
4. Choose File > Get Info.
5. Select "Open in 32-Bit Mode".
6. Close the Get Info dialog box.
7. Restart Photoshop CS5

Apr 29, 2013When I start photoshop and check the perfomance settings, it shows intel HD Graphics Family as the gpu and in advanced settings, openCL is grayed out. Is there any way to get photoshop to use the nvidia gpu? My specs are below.

I've got all the drivers updated to the latest. I've gone into the nvidia control panel and changed the preferred graphics processor to NVIDIA and set program itself to use nvidia. Don't know what else to do.

When I launch PS by itself, my GPU is detected. If I double click on a file, there is a delay in opening and I get this message:

All my OpenGL functions are disabled. So now what can be done to get my GPU working as it did in 14.0?

I'll guess I'm out of luck since NVDIA doesn't issue updated drivers for my GPU.
