Photoshop :: Adding New Fonts, Won't Display In Select Menu
Nov 18, 2003
ttf files into the windows/font folder like everybody says, but they wont appear in the font select menu. I've tried closing and opening photoshop, and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling photoshop, AND uninstalling and reinstalling illustrator just to make sure, but to no avail. They all appear in the font folder, but photoshop will not recognize them. Furthermore, I've been able to add new fonts in the past, they display in the font menu just fine...but not the ones I recently tried to put in. What's going on here? Are there more than one kind of .ttf ? Is there a way to force photoshop to look at the font folder?
I've been tearing out my hair, trying to do this for hours...
for some reason, all of a sudden photoshop wont display any available fonts in my font list beyond the begining of the letter m. i have tons of fonts. not all of them are turned on. ones that are turned on though and that i have been using up to this point regularly are not accessable now.
When designing a sign for a customer, I take a photo of the existing signs, place on a new document in illustrator cs6, type text then scroll through the text character drop down menu to match the new sign text to the font that is currently on the customers signs, business card etc.
There are many different types of fonts and I would prefer not to have the adobe system fonts, asian, arabic and other fonts that are not used for my purposes. Â Is there a way to remove them from this list. Â I have tried deleteing them from the window 7 font manager but they are essential system fonts and it displays a message that some programes will not work if I delete them. Â I have tried show/hide in the windows 7 font manager but this has no effect on the fonts displayed in illustrator.
I have the following hardware/software combination: Lenovo ThinkPad W700dsNVidia FX2700M (512MB)Windows Ultimate 64-bitAdobe Photoshop CS4 After installing Adobe, I have been noticing that the text of the menus is cropped (Please check the image below). This makes it very difficult for me to read the menu items (especially when the text is cropped horizontally).
I cannot access my fonts menu. The drop down menu is blank box and snaps shut. I also have trouble with "save as" and file format...ie save as jpg...the drop down quickly snaps shut, I can often catch it after several tries but seriously lol.
These issues have something to do with user settings...I made a secondary account and the program works fine but changing between accounts is not the best solution. Where/what I need to look at in user settings ?
I just purchased, downloaded and installed PSE 12. I am running Windows 7. Everything seems to be working fine. My question is this: Why are the titles in tlhe menu bar (task bar?) at the top so small? When you actually pull down the menu it is fine but the titles (file, edit, image, filters etc) are extremely small and very hard to see. Also the path selection tool is just a dot (actually two tiny dots) and not the normal cursor arrow.
One of the few software that didn't play nice was CS3, so I had to re-install it. Now, many of the fonts won't show up. I'm doing a logo for a client and I need some fonts but fonts from the following- New Peninim, Corsiva Hebrew, Ariel Hebrew and/or Raanana-- don't appear after you engage the Type tool. What shows up in both Photoshop and especially Illustrator is a square box with nothing in it.  columns on line and followed 4 or 5 different "solutions"-- nothing seems to work. I even, against my suspicions, called the Adobe customer service and the best they could offer was to post a question here if my answer was not apparent.  Bearing in mind that I've put fonts in the Adobe folder, reset characters and a few other things since yesterday.Â
I'm having a display bug with the menu toolbar icons in Photoshop CS4 Extended. The icons don't show when mouse hovers over them and they don't show at all for the drop down menus. Can this be fixed?
I'm on WinXP, Athlon 64 4000+, 3GB ram, GeForce 6800 GT video card [driver 181.20]. I'm not sure if this is a video driver bug or CS4 bug.
I am wanting to add some new fonts to my library for writing on panels and such. I did this along time ago and didn't take notes(naturally). Where do i add them in at? I am running windows 7 now and tried adding them into the C/windows/fonts folder, but it doesn't seem to allow that.
How to add fonts to PDN's selection? I have the font downloaded and extracted, and have the "OpenType font file" ready to copy/paste/move. I just don't know where to move it to.

I can get Gotham .OTF fonts working ok in Adobe applications (Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Archicad. But I cannot get the Gotham fonts to appear in AutoCAD. Do I specifically require .TTF files for the fonts to work correctly in AutoCad?
Attempted .TTF conversion that only wanted to replace the existing .OTF via Control Panel-Fonts...Uninstalled KB2753842 that seemed to be a forum topic of cinversation
I am creating a document in Tamil. Normally I type in Google document. Then copy and paste in Word. It works perfectly.  Now I am creating a poster in Adobe illustrator. I did type in google and pasted in notepad. It works perfectly.  When I copy and past in Adobe Illustrator the font is not displaying correctly.                     In preferences-->Type-->Text Engine options I selected 'Middle Eastern', previousy it was 'East Asia', after that the Tamil letters are getting displayed correctly.   I have seen another post which says I need to enable show Indic option. [URL] Unfortunately I do not have Indic option. My screen looks different  I have some tamil fount installed. When I tried to change the fount to tamil font, it does not work either. I have another font called Latha. When I changed to Latha font the character displayed in Tamil but all spelling went wrong in Tamil.
How can I make CorelDraw X5 not display fonts marked "hide" in the FONTS folder of Win 7? Scrolling through hundreds of fonts to find the one you want is a real nightmare.
Wanting add a font to X3 using Vista I've downloaded, extracted  but does not see it  in X3 so how do I get into X3.Looked in archives for same but no find,  stuff like adding  in bullets is all, finding using Ctrl+F11.
I was working on a project and went to change to a different font and all that was there are the last 6 or so that I used. When I go to the drop down menu It doesn't show any other fonts. I know there are a lot of fonts in the computer but cannot get them on the program.
I just installed PS6 and while cleaning up a picture .I created a new layer on top of the one I'm editing and wanted to remove a couple of blemishes. but when I hit J and try to select the 'all layers' option from the drop down menu, it won't allow me… it's stuck on 'current layer' and I can't seem to change that…
I had been using 2.8.0, adding some text to graphics. I came back from a brief break, and the next time I added text, the font was extremely narrow, to the point that it was illegible.
At first I tried simply shutting GIMP down and restarting. No such luck. Next, I uninstalled GIMP, then I ran CCleaner to get rid of any residual files and settings, then I reinstalled GIMP, still using the 2.8.0 Windows installer, and still, the issue persisted.
** EDIT ** I tested ALL fonts, the problems happens with each one.
So I uninstalled again, did the CCleaner thing, then downloaded and installed 2.8.8, and the problem still persists.
Again, fonts and texts had been working without an issue all day. I stepped away from my PC to get food. There was no one in the house that could have messed with any settings, no pets to accidentally press keys or anything like that.
I am at a complete loss. I've looked at every possible setting I could think of that could possibly impact how fonts are rendered, and changing settings still does nothing.
I have found an inconvenient workaround for this problem, but at least I can now get some work done.
The problem still occurs when I try to insert text into an EXISTING image, but if a create a NEW IMAGE with a background color, text displays and renders as it should. If I choose a transparent background, I still get the problem with the text rendering too narrow to be legible.
So something about existing images and/or transparent backgrounds contributes to this issue. But as long as I create my text layer in a new image, I can then just copy and paste that layer into the image I want to edit, and I can even edit the text once it has been pasted without problems.
Still, this is very inconvenient, especially when I am trying to place text in precise positions.
Was going to do another round of revisons to some ice cream labels, this came up while opening 11 flavors. Only came up on one, and is gone now. Seems like the fonts for showing the font technology changed to a font similar to Apple color Emoji, amybe a font in the show package contents.
The issue that I'm having is when I select my font and type on my project the letters will show up in the layer menu but not in my project. Wondering how I can fix this issue
I have installed lightroom 5.3 on my desktop at home (upgrading from 5.2 and previous versions all the way back to V1). I do not get the menu showing visualize spots which is VERY frustrating since it will be a very useful tool. I ahve also installed 5.2 on my laptop and here I do get the tool.
Is there a way that I can make the length of the dropdown menu (shown below) for the Dimension Styles longer? It is difficult to select the correct dimstyle.
