AutoCAD LT :: Dimension Style Menu Display Width
Dec 19, 2011Is there a way that I can make the length of the dropdown menu (shown below) for the Dimension Styles longer? It is difficult to select the correct dimstyle.

View 5 RepliesI'm working on a drawing that was converted into cad and it seems like every dimension has its own style. When I copy use the move comand or try to change the dimension the text changes from being above the dimension line to centered and the text gets closer together horizontally. When I compare a copied dimension to the original it has all the same properties including the text pos vert still being above text. The actual dimension style hasn't changed at all but what is showing up on screen is different.
Here a image showing three dimensions with the same properties, the top 2'-10" is what it should look like, the bottom is what it looks like when I copied it and the 1'-2" is when I make a new dimension.
I am working with a template, that doesn't allow me to change the dimension style. In the project the Use Style Library is set to Read/Write. I have created my dimension style, at this point just a copy of the ANSI standard with a text size difference. I went to my template and set that syle as my default, and saved it. Now the fact that it doesn't automatically update the drawing I had alreadycreated is a nuisance, however if I creat a new drawing, the style has reverted to a different standard, that is not even the ANSI default. If I right click a dimension and change the dimstyle to what I saved it does update, but if I try to change the style again it defaults to a random dimstyle, AND changes the style even if I hit cancel. So... the question is how to make the changes stick?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have walls constructed out of modular panels, represented by basic rectangles. Rectangles are a standard 16" wide. (length not important) Only when a rectangle is not 16" wide, would we need to show it's width with a dimension.
In multiple blocks I am creating, I need a stretchable rectangle, in which there will be a dimension.
However I do not want the dimension to show up when the rectangle is 16" wide. But I DO want the dimension to show when the rectangle is not 16".
So... When the rectangle is 16" wide, no dimension is displayed. When the rectangle is NOT 16" wide, a dimension is displayed.
pic of three rectangles next to aforementioned stretchable rectangle. When the one on the right is 16" wide I don't want to see a dimension.
I use a style library. Have it in a read-only mode in the ipj file. My drawing created a new template with a rev table with required columns.
Now, I create a new drawing file and choose this template. add few views, insert a rev table. The rev table columns headings are the same as in the template. But the column widths aren't same as in the template.
I use manage->update. It warns me that the drawing would be matched as per the style library. I agree & OK.
No use, the columns are not same size? Though the style is read only from the drawing, I go to open the style editor to check the column widths. They are different from the template.
line width does not display in either model or paper space, is there a way to make it display without going to print preview?
View 1 Replies View Relatedif it is possible to increase the number of recently used values/parameters in the dimension dialog, during part sketching. For one part, I use approximately ten parameters that will be used repeatedly. When I'm done with one sketch and start with the next, only the last five parameters are in the recently used parameter list. (Create dimension --> select arrow on right side of dialog, see attachment Dimension_Dialog.jpg, excuse me for the poor quality ). It would be much more comfort to have more parameters in this 'recently used'-list.
Furthermore I'd like to know if it's possible to widen the parameter-list. In my case I've several parameters that start with the same prefix, followed by a differentiating suffix. When I create a new dimension, select the arrow on the right and select 'List Parameters', I have to adjust the width of this dialog every time to see the entire parameter. (see picture Dimension_parameters.jpg)
I am trying to get DText objects to update width factor when I change the Width Factor of the Text Style. We have one style (Simplex) & I hoped to be able to set the width factor of that style to 0.8 or 1.2 depending on what is required and then just insert objects from the tool palette so they have the correct width factor.
This seems to work for MText but not for DText or Attributes. Short of using lisp is there a to update the width factor of DText & Attributes? (hoping to be able to do this on LT also)
Only way I can see for DText is to qselect text and change style to something else and back to Simplex. Only way for attributes I've found is to advance edit block and change text style to something else and back.

I have approximately 800 library files that I would like to change the Dimension Style on. Is there a way or some program out there that would allow me to change the Dimension Style on all 800 drawings at once or do I need to open each one up change and save?
View 3 Replies View RelatedEach time I open a drawing, on my arrow dimension I get a style override which is always scaled at 96. Even if I delete the style override, when I close the drawing and open it again, it's back. It's always on the "arrow" dimension, never any other dimensions. I don't know why it's been doing this, it just started one day out of nowhere. Is there a way I can get rid of it? I'm using AutoCAD 2005.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to solve a problem which all 3 of us in the Drawing office are battling with. The standard dimstyle we use is called "MP2013" , we are finding that somehow ACAD is adding something resembling a "$" sign at the end of the dimstyle and the properties are out of whack. We cant work out what brings it on but its been happening for a week or 2 now.

why every time I use the DAL shortcut, I get a dimension style override appear? Yet it doesn't do it when i use DIMALI or the DIMALIGNED button?
I've searched extensively for a solution to this yet I can't find a solution that works. The >Drawing Setup>Scale tab doesn't seem to exist in this version, and I've tried setting all the CreateDimOverride values in the registry to 0, but even that isn't working.

I have AutoCAD 2011 now and I am not sure where the Dimention style edit (to show in all dimention lines I am using) is...what I have to do now is to change each line EVERY time I dimention any thing.
the other thing is how to scale the drawign in viewport. In older versions it shows easily. Where is it in this one!?
Is there any way when I am dimensioning something to make it read feet and decimals of a foot for instance.
Instead of it reading 5’-6 9/16” it would read 5.546875’?
I tried a few different things on the dimension style and I can get it to read out in decimal inches (it would be 66.5625” with the example givin) but not feet.
The reason I need it is for a program that we run where we must enter the measurement in decimal feet
I created a new dimension style in a drawing. But i can't find this new create dimension style in othes drawing. I am wondering how can i create my own dimension style and could be use in every drawing as my own style?

I want the dimension to display in integers, but I want the measurement in the quick properties to have a precision of 2 decimal places.
Now it was done at my last place, but I cannot find how to do it at my new place!!
I have selected architectural as my units display. While I am drawing it shows feet, inches, fractions. When I enter a dimension it will only display in inches and decimals. What am I doing wrong?
