Photoshop :: Where Does Custom Action And Workspace Files Stored
Aug 29, 2012
I need to transfer them from CS5 to CS6. I can't work without them. I looked everywhere. Where are they stored (on a Mac)? I did try that useless migration thing.
Can a custom work space save a unique set of actions specific to that work space incuding function key short cuts? The idea is to reduce Phoshot action clutter in the Actions Panel. The goal is to have different Work Spaces with differnt action sets and function keys.
I need to reformat and had some shaped I made that I dont want to lose.
does anyone know where they are stored?
I looked in Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CSPresetsCustom Shapes but did not see anything for "user made" or anything like that. Would they be in the "all.csh" or somewhere else?
I have some weird virus action going on and need to reformat. I cant get into photoshop to export shapes. So I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find to save my custom shapes.
I have found .csh files in 2 locations:
Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CSPresetsCustom Shapes
PS CC won't save a custom workspace. Nothing happens. In addition, I get a "Can't apply workspace because of a system error" when i try to view the What's New workspace. Just downloaded the CC today. Mac 10.7.5, 3.4 GHz processor, 16GB RAM.
I would like to transfer batch commands that I created in CS2 to CS5. these are the commands created under import-batch. where are those files stored and will cs2 files work under cs5 (or are they version specific)
My computer crashed and I had to recover my HD professionally a few months ago. I bought a new HD, reinstalled all my apps and copied my files over to the new drive.
I cannot seem to find the file that had all of my actions from the old harddrive. What file would I be looking for? I search for all .atn files on the recoved hd and copied them over but my old actions are no where to be found.
Using PSE 11, I get the panels set up the way I want, and the background that shows behind the document white like I want, and all is well. Until the comptuer loses it and I have to redo it all over. How can I get it to save my choices for these things? It also lost all my preferences that I set.
After completing a many-hours-long automated process (Contact Sheet II), Photoshop decided to error out on me as soon as it finished. It has a pop up that says:
"Could not complete your request because of a program error."
It appears that I will need to force-close the application. What's frustrating is that the 102 files it generated are sitting right behind that error, but I can't get it to go away--it just pops back up when I click OK. I really don't want to lock up this computer for another day when the files are right there!
If I could only find the temporary files on my computer I'd quarantine and recover them on my own. I am a little surprised that no one seems to have asked this on Google (or maybe I just can't find it).
iMac 27' OS Lion CS4 - I have built a new custom workspace where I have about 10 palettes permanently on the desktop and unlike my older Mac G5 running Tiger, when I open an image file it occupies the whole screen (depending on original size) and is occupying space also under the palettes. I would like for the image to open or if not open then when I keystroke cmd+0 for 'fit screen' so it only occupies the area of the screen that is free.
PSB files are stored (in the Windows OS) in the User's Temp folder. My Temp folder has a dozen or so PSB files with various dates. Is there a reason they don't go away when a PSD file is saved? Vestiges of PS crashes? Same questions for Smart Object PSB files.
When I attempt to create a custom workspace (based on x6 defaults) everthing appears to work correctly until I restart the application. At this point the dockers I have positioned at right side of the workspace are either fully expanded (Transformations) or are fully collapsed (Object Properties & Object Manager).
This a major pain since I do not want to reset my workspace EVERY TIME I START THE APP!
I have already done multiple F8 restarts & re-creating of custom workspace with no change/improvement.
how to save a custom workspace in previous versions does not exist in Illustrator CC. Has this option been reconfigured or simply forgotten? I'm using a Trial Version.
I got a message to install service pack 1 this morning. Since then every time I load PSP the workspace is the default workspace and all of the tools I had added to the toolbars are missing. If I load my custom workspace from the load menu, it makes no difference, it just refreshes the screen and nothing changes. Also every time I load the program it displays the Learning Center and Organizer tabs, even though I keep disabling them.
I tried resetting everything back to the defaults but it doesn't work. Should I do a new re-install or is there something I'm missing?
We run 6 seats of Map 3D 2012. We are upgrading computers but want to remain with 2012 for the time being.
Our old machines were 32 bit; the new ones 64 bit. I am having to load the 64 bit version of Map 3D fresh to all the stations (individual; not network)
I have set up custom menus and a preferred workspace on my station some time ago. I don't want to have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
What files do I need to save and how do I access them once I have reinstalled the new version?
There must be a faster way to updated the current, custom workspace, without having to choose "Save Workspace" and retyping the same name! I constantly tweek my workspace and do not want to save multiple versions, I just want to update the current space.
I'd like to simply hold "option" as I select the current workspace name and have AI update that workspace with my current setup.
As I am having problems with a NewBlue video filter (Picture in Picture - see separate post with no replies so far) I would like to find out if video filters (esp NewBlue) are stored in a folder which is not a subfolder of Corel/VideoStudio (and which may not get removed during an uninstall). Where they are located (as I cannot locate them).
Some jpg files are stored with the file extension .jpg and some are strored with .jpeg. Actually when you rename the extension from .jpeg to .jpg it seems to make no difference and the file is still usable with most software including Xara Designer Pro 9 that I use.
I remember that in older versions of Xara, when you exported to jpg, the filter for the file listing was [*.jpg; *.jpeg] and all the files with the respective extensions where listed and you could pick an existing file to write over it or select it and use a similar name. In Desiner Pro 9, when I select "export to jpeg" the only filter is [*.jpg]. So I do not see the jpeg files anymore.
I could just rename the .jpeg file to .jpg ... but why not show the .jpeg files also? Is there a way in Xara to get this feature back? Am I missing something?
when i create an ipart with an custom parameter column, the files are created in the workspace. Is there any way how i can change this location?
Many parts are piling up in the workspace. For example to the library (like "normal iparts" do) or to a folder in the workspace (workspace/ custom_ ipart_ folder)?
i have made a custom stroke width profile and want to back it up for future use i found two files called variablewidth or something but the date modified wasn't congruent to when i created the profile.
where can i find the files that contain this preset to back up?
I tried creating a custom workspace and was able to do so (without any modifications) but when I was in that workspace, and loaded an old menu, it wiped out all the default workspaces. where / how these default workspaces are stored, or how to upload all my old menu stuff without going through a tedious cui mod?
In PS CS3 you could open as many graphical files as you wanted, move them around on the scrren, edit them, then create a new file and copy those into it creating a composite image.
Now, with CS6, I haven't figured out how to do that yet. If I load an image, it takes up the entire workspace, with rulers going negative to hugely positive with no reason to do so. If I load another image, I can't see them both unless I tile. if there is a way to put ALL files, say 10 of them all on ONE workspace at once? I'm almost ready to go BACK to CS3!
You could do this in CS5, but it doesn't seem possible in CS6. It's a bit clunky when dragging from one file to another in the tab mode. I liked having the workspace open side by side.
Im having some color discrepancies in ps cs2. The colors that i see on my workspace(psd) are different from the colors that appear when i save the image. Check the screen grab for an example. This effect is way more pronounced on my screen.
In previous PS versions I could see my open files as thumbnails at the bottom of my workspace instead of tabs at the top. I would love to keep using that workflow- can this be selected somehow?
