Photoshop :: Transparent Border Appears When I Use...

In CS2 (9.0.2) and CS3 (10.0.1), whenever I shrink an image using Image Size, my layers get a slightly transparent edge. As a game developer, I make tiling textures a lot, and this generally ruins their tiling-ness.
Try this:
- create a 32x32 image, make it white
- add a layer, fill it with black
- shrink it to 16x16 or 20x20, using any of the Bicubic resampling methods
- notice that the edge pixels of the black layer are slightly transparent. This is most noticeable in the corners of the image.
I am creating a peice of artwork in illustrator. I have cut out the icecream image in photoshop and placed it in illustrator as a psd file. It looks fine in illustrator, looks like it should do. The problem occurs when I export to pdf, a black border around the ice cream image appears. However when I print the black border does not display. So the issue with the black border only appears on the pdf. Check out the attachment beow for example of what I mean.

When I preview the image, the background is transparent. Also when I open the image with Windows image viewer, the image also has the transparent background. i am trying to blend an image onto a background with an inner glow style. however, as the background is multi coloured i wanted the blend to create a transparent border around the image so it fades into the background. I have managed to do it with a fade brush and trace the edge but this gives a straight corner on the edges and I wanted it curved to minimise the contrast.
I've built a 3D cylinder shape in Illlustrator and have applied plastic shading. Looks OK in Illustrator, but when imported into InDesign or opened in Photoshop, it appears to be partially transparent AND what looked to be smooth shading in Illustrator appears as a strange pattern in PS and InD, etc.We're getting close to final and this will be printing as it's a logomark.Is there something I'm missing that would make this shape a solid shape (instead of appearring to be transparent) and reproduce well? I just want it to look in PS and InD (and on paper) the way it looks in Illustrator.
I'm wondering if there is a simple way to create a 1 pt. border on my transparent background. I want this as a "cutting guide", but my "inside edit/stroke" is not working on the transparent b/g.
is it possible for a gif's transparent background to extend past its border? when I say border, I mean the black border that frames the image in photoshop...
I ask because I seem to be getting a space beneath my image when I embed into my web page and I've taken care of the html side of things (all padding and margins set to 0px, etc.)...

Im trying to make an icon (.ico) with transparent background. Im adding an alpha channel and deletes the fields that are supposed to be transparent. Everything looks just fine in Gimp, but when putting the icon on the desktop there appears a white border around my icon. The transparency works within the icon. Im using Windows Vista 32bit. In Exporer it looks like it has a border too.
I'm using 2.8.4 on a MacBook Pro. When I create a text image with a transparent background and export as any file format, there's a white border around the ENTIRE image. A white box around the whole image. The background should be completely transparent. No border at all. Just words on a completely transparent background.
I have spent hours trying to do this simple task in Gimp without luck. What I'm looking for is the border effect (without outer shadow) seen in the three embedded screenshots in this image: [URL]
In inkscape it's a matter of adding a square on top of the image with identical dimensions and making the stroke colour semitransparent and the fill colour completely transparent, but image quality suffers badly when exporting from svg to png or jpg again, and I'd prefer doing it in Gimp.
So, take image, say 100 by 100, add 1 pixel inner transparent border - how? I have seen this effect enough to suspect it's a filter option but haven't found anything in my filters.
I would like to add more to the white background to make it bigger without having to stretch it and distort the image.
I want to place a circle shaped outline border around the original image with a set border thickness and color and be able to crop/remove the portion of the image beyond the outline, changing it from a square/rectangle image to a circular image.
If I am not able to change the drawing to have a round outer border from square, how can I make the outer parts past the newly created circular outline transparent?
I am working on a Mac (Snow Leapord) with Photoshop CS6. When I try to save a sliced and transparent PSD in the Save For Web dialog box with PNG-24, the transparency dissapears once exported. I have the transparency and interlaced boxes both checked. The images appear transparent in the Optimized Save for Web dialog box, but the transparency dissapears once exported out of Photoshop.  I never had a problem with this when I was using CS4...
I need to strip my current image of its background color so that the background color on my website goes thru my image. In other words I need a transparent background for my image.
I have create a new layer that is transparent, but the background color on my website does not go thru it. The background color of this image appears to be grayish not transparent.
Hey, I'm having troubles with applying a gradient tool to a rectangular marquee in Photoshop CS3 for Mac OS X 5.8. Instead of getting a black color to fade into the background, I just get the black color.Â
And I'm click and dragging about 1.5 inches long. Sometimes I end up covering the entire picture with that color, not just the object (even though the object is selected). Gradient maps and layer masks don't seem to work.Â
I have an image with several layers. The background layer is transparent. When I merge the layers, the background becomes white. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong or didn't do that prevented my background from staying transparent.
I am trying to overlay a logo on top of my titles. The logo is a circle and is in PNG format. When I use this logo in documents it is totally transparent with only the circle showing. However, when I try to use it in my video the circle has a white square around it, the white being the transparent area.
Currrently, we print floor plans to pdf's, open them in Photoshop and make them part transparent and part semi-transparent so that we can overlay them in various visual tools. Â Is there a way to create pdf's or images where the background is completely transparent and and solid patterns within the floor plan that are semi-transparent?
I have a solid gray filled region that is set to be transparent that is not being transparent. We are trying to put a gray tone over the existing area of the plan. what is weird is that I did the exact same thing to another view & it works perfectly with the region in the background & all the wals & doors showing up correctly. I can't figure out what is different between one view & another.
I've tried changing the filled region to be "moved to back" but nothing changes. if I override the graphics of the element & change it to be transparent the it goes away all together.

I have an object that is comprised of several lines that are grouped together, and I want to fill the entire group with a fractal cloud 3-color fill. In order to do so, I am creating the fill as a background, and making the object transparent, but when I do that, all my lines disappear (of course!) but I need the lines in it for details. I have created a hatch with a Transparency of 30% so I can see what's underneath.
All looks good in Model Space but when I do a print preview from Paper Space the hatch appears to be completely solid in color again and has no transparency.
I tried searching the forums for "Transparent Grid" and "Transparent Hex", but I could not find anything.I would like to create an image which is a Transparent Grid or Hex which I could lay over other images, like maps for roleplaying games.
I tried to use the eraser tool to remove all the white space from the image "TransparentHexes.png" (see attached). It was long and labor intensive, but when I tried to copy the image and lay it over another image, it removed the transparent parts and made them white space again, completely covering the underlaying image.
Perhaps there is a way to use the "Paint Bucket" to replace white with transparent? And how do I lay a mostly transparent grid over another image?
We hit save and everything appears as though it is saving, only to find out after we've closed out the file that it hasn't been saved. Or portions of the work we did were saved but not the entirety, and out of chronological order. Though we are connected to a series of networked servers, we do all of our work locally and save locally before copying the files back to the server. This has affected 5 people so far and started occurring within the last two weeks. We've been doing this sort of work for over 4 years here and never encountered this problem. Â We're pretty desperate to see if there's some sort of answer. So far our only solution is to keep saving the file in different locations on our system with different names, just in case. Â We are all running on Mac OSX Lion 10.7.3 and Photoshop CS5 12.0.4.
When I save artwork as a tiff or jpeg, the preview appears in the negative or reversed color. It opens up fine in Photoshop, but why does it not view correctly in my documents as a thumbnail?
when I use Save As after making some basic adjustments to an image (usually just resizing), the resulting image looks different from the original. The image on the right shows exactly what it looks like in Ps before being saved out, and on the left is the exported JPG. You can see that the left image looks "faded out"--like it's lost contrast and brightness. In general, I'm opening either JPG or TIFF files and saving them to JPG.
Been running PS CS5 successfully for a couple of years, then all of a sudden I can't work at magnifications other than 25% and Actual Pixels. The image disappears and I only see the checkerboard. There was a Windows update I ran on April 10 that included an update to the graphics card, which I thought might have been the culprit, so I uninstalled it. That didn't fix the problem, so I updated it again. I couldn't see anything else in those updates that should affect Photoshop. Â Here is what I've tried so far:

Trashed Adobe Photoshop CS5 Prefs.psp (which crashed PS completely when I reopened it...luckily I kept the old prefs file on my desktop and dragged it back in),
Made sure Photoshop was up-to-date. Â Photoshop CS5 (v.12.0.4 32 bit) Windows 7 Home Premium (v.6.1 Build 7601: Service Pack 1) AMD Phenom II X4 840 Processor 3.20 GHz
The grid I have set up in photoshop seems to be misaligned. When I click the lower right quadrant of a square it colors the square on the lower right diagonal of it. If try to color it clicking the right half of it, the pixel next to it becomes colored. Clicking the left half of the pixel colors the correct one though. It seems like the grid isn't aligned properly. How do I fix this? Â Also, I just switched my grid subdivisions from 1 to 4 and the problem was gone, but none the less, why is it that with gridlines every 1 pixel and subdivision of 1 that the alignment of it is off?
I have vista 64 bit installed, 4gb ram and a geforce 8400 gs.
photoshop opens ok, but when I open a image, only appears a gray window. and when i move the image box, the image appears, but when I stop moving it, it desapears again.. I know I can edit the image, because I can add a brush into it, and when I move the box the image is brushed.. And when I enter the filter gallery the image appears normaly..
If I save a Camera Raw manipulated image as a COMPRESSED (LOSSLESS) DNG file it appears back in CS3 Bridge as a DNG Icon and not as a thumbnail. Is there a reason for this and can I get the saved file to appear as a thumbnail.
I have photoshop cs4 extended and a wacom tablet + pen. Sometimes while I sketch(drawing lines fast) making dots, drawing things close to each other, a thick line jump from my dot or start point of drawing to some other point in the line. It's really annoying when you sketch something and suddenly and thick black line jumps across your drawing. Or when drawing dots close to each other, a line suddenly connects them.
