Photoshop :: Transparent Gif Leaks Beneath Border?

Jan 19, 2007

is it possible for a gif's transparent background to extend past its border? when I say border, I mean the black border that frames the image in photoshop...

I ask because I seem to be getting a space beneath my image when I embed into my web page and I've taken care of the html side of things (all padding and margins set to 0px, etc.)...

Photoshop :: Transparent Border Blending

Nov 26, 2006

i am trying to blend an image onto a background with an inner glow style. however, as the background is multi coloured i wanted the blend to create a transparent border around the image so it fades into the background. I have managed to do it with a fade brush and trace the edge but this gives a straight corner on the edges and I wanted it curved to minimise the contrast.

Photoshop :: Transparent Border Appears When I Use...

Aug 26, 2008

In CS2 (9.0.2) and CS3 (10.0.1), whenever I shrink an image using Image Size, my layers get a slightly transparent edge. As a game developer, I make tiling textures a lot, and this generally ruins their tiling-ness.

Try this:

- create a 32x32 image, make it white

- add a layer, fill it with black

- shrink it to 16x16 or 20x20, using any of the Bicubic resampling methods

- notice that the edge pixels of the black layer are slightly transparent. This is most noticeable in the corners of the image.

GIMP :: White Border Around Transparent Image

I'm using 2.8.4 on a MacBook Pro. When I create a text image with a transparent background and export as any file format, there's a white border around the ENTIRE image. A white box around the whole image. The background should be completely transparent. No border at all. Just words on a completely transparent background.

GIMP :: 1 Pixel Inner Semi-transparent Border On Image?

Jun 17, 2012

I have spent hours trying to do this simple task in Gimp without luck. What I'm looking for is the border effect (without outer shadow) seen in the three embedded screenshots in this image: [URL]

In inkscape it's a matter of adding a square on top of the image with identical dimensions and making the stroke colour semitransparent and the fill colour completely transparent, but image quality suffers badly when exporting from svg to png or jpg again, and I'd prefer doing it in Gimp.

So, take image, say 100 by 100, add 1 pixel inner transparent border - how? I have seen this effect enough to suspect it's a filter option but haven't found anything in my filters.

InDesign :: Odd Number Display Beneath Text Boxes?

Feb 12, 2014

I've opened an older InDesign document (I don't know with which version it was created) and found odd little number/letter "coordinates" [Example: 21W(13)] displayed beneath each and every text box in the document. They are the same color as the layer they inhabit, they don't disappear when I turn off invisibles,  they move with the text box,  they don't appear under image boxes, and the numbers are all different but the "W" always follows the first number.  After some experimenting I learned that the number in parens refers to character count. I can't figure out what the "number/W" signifies. I've searched all over the web for information about this and found nothing. I've checked preferences, palettes, settings, views, etc. and also found nothing. I've worked in InDesign since its inception and have never seen such a thing. The styles in the document are all messed up, I'm wondering if these numbers are causing the problem. Can they be shut off? What are they? Does this have something to do with InCopy?

Illustrator :: Appearance Palette - How To Rearrange The Stroke (Beneath The Fill)

Dec 12, 2012

I am new to the Appearance palette

See screen shot attached. (the text "Helvetica")

I have created some live text (ie: it remains editable)

I have given it a fill of black and a heavy (7pt) stroke of blue.

I cannot appear to rearrange the stroke so that it falls beneath the fill

I assumed it would simply be question of dragging it below, as one would with the Layers

However, when I converted the text to outlines (in this case the text "UNIVERS") it works.

And also why are the eyes in the first coloumn grayed out when the text is live. But not so when text is outlined?

Xara :: How To Create Artificial Reflection Beneath Irregularly Shaped Object

Jul 30, 2011

Today's challenge was to create an artificial reflection beneath an irregularly shaped object.

In the past I've been asked to add reflections where the reflection is simply a plane that cuts horizontally across the entire object (example 1), and where the object to be reflected is skewed (example 2) - both operations are pretty straight forward...

Example 3 is the object (a duvet) to which I had to add a floor reflection. I did come up with a solution, which I am reasonably happy with, but would love to see what methods other people use! I guess my attempt is OK because the texture and shape of the duvet is fairly forgiving!

Do you have a better method for these irregular floor reflections?

Example 4 is perhaps the trickiest I can imagine as the entire object is curved and the texture uniform so a bodge job will be very obvious!

Perhaps this can't easily be done in Xara - I imagine it could be painted in a bitmap package or rendered with a 3d package... or photographed with a reflection in the first place!

Illustrator :: Dragging A Copy Equal Amount Of Space Beneath Previous One?

Aug 1, 2012

I'm simply creating a word on an artboard "Item #1" at 90pt bold and centered to the artboard. I now want to copy it a couple of times on the same artboard by holding down alt + shift and dragging beneath it to create new copies of the word with the goal of printing this artboard and using a paper cutter to make evenly cut labels.

1. How do I create a consistent amount of space between each label when I drag each copy down?

2. If I already have the labels on an artboard, how can I space them out so that there is an even amount of space between them?

GIMP :: Extend Drawing Border And Change It From Square Outer Border To Round

Nov 11, 2012

I have a drawing that has a white background.

I would like to add more to the white background to make it bigger without having to stretch it and distort the image.

I want to place a circle shaped outline border around the original image with a set border thickness and color and be able to crop/remove the portion of the image beyond the outline, changing it from a square/rectangle image to a circular image.

If I am not able to change the drawing to have a round outer border from square, how can I make the outer parts past the newly created circular outline transparent?

Illustrator :: Object Layering Opacity - Fill Doesn't Block Out Object Paths Beneath

Jul 14, 2013

I am having some trouble with a file in Illustrator CS6. Within a layer, when I add a fill to an object, the fill doesn't block out the object paths beneath. For instance, say I have a square object overlapping a circle object in Layer 1. The square object is above the circle in the layer. When I add a fill to the square, the circle stroke still shows through the square even though the overlapped part should be blocked out by the fill. The square is set to normal visibility, and I have made sure that there are no duplicate paths that would account for what I am seeing. (I.e., it's not a case where there's a second identical circle path that is on top of the square, so that it remains visible in spite of the fill.)

Other details:
- I'm mainly working with a white fill, but the problem is the same with fills of any color
- When there's a fill color in the circle path as well, the circle's fill color *is* blocked out—just not its stroke.
- I have restarted Illustrator and restarted my computer and these have not changed anything.
- There are other layers within the same document where the normal layering rules work.
- I tried copy/pasting some of the problem objects into a new document, and in the new document, the fill works properly.
- If I move the problem objects to another layer, then the fill works as it should. But as I'm dealing with a number of paths, it doesn't make sense to create a layer for each to solve the problem.

I can't tell if it's a matter of working in too large or complex a file.

Paint.NET :: Transparent Grid Or Transparent Hexes

Nov 1, 2012

I tried searching the forums for "Transparent Grid" and "Transparent Hex", but I could not find anything.I would like to create an image which is a Transparent Grid or Hex which I could lay over other images, like maps for roleplaying games.

I tried to use the eraser tool to remove all the white space from the image "TransparentHexes.png" (see attached). It was long and labor intensive, but when I tried to copy the image and lay it over another image, it removed the transparent parts and made them white space again, completely covering the underlaying image.

Perhaps there is a way to use the "Paint Bucket" to replace white with transparent? And how do I lay a mostly transparent grid over another image?

Photoshop :: A Border?

I want to make a border for something. The border is basically a christmas light border around some text. What I did was I took a picture of one lightbulb and edited it so that I just got the lightbulb (no background or anything...). What I want to do is basically create a border from that single light bulb by alternating the colors of the bulb (like how you can with a brush). Can I create a new brush out of that light bulb? I coulda sworn I've done it before, and there was a lesson on brushes in the book... But I can't figure out how. Or maybe theres a way to get around it by doing a some sort of border?
