When opening PSD files from previous version none of my text layers will update. In addition I cannot select them with my text tool, I get a 'Could not complete your request because of a program error'.
I am trying to get a white layer with see through writing which reveals the background image underneath. (Almost like I have put a stencil over a photograph). I have discovered this is called a clipping mask.
However, I am having difficulty using a clipping mask over multiple text layers. It seems to only do it to one layer directly beneath. I do not want to merge the text layers as I want to mess about with the design a fair bit.
I'm updating an animated gif. It has 6 layers. It starts without anything but a background and progressively shows a bubble slowly lowering (the bubble similar to the ones in comics that show what the characters are saying) . The 6th layer shows most of the text and says (among other things) "Spring Conference 2004". I removed the '4' from 2004 (I switched from within Imageready to Photoshop to clone it out) and want to replace the '4' with a '6'. When I put in the '6' (back in Imageready), it goes on each layer but i only want it on layer 6. So the '6' is in the right spot in layer 6 but shows in the same spot in all 6 layers.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI often will borrow groups and layers from one document and drag them into a new or a different PS document to borrow the layers and formatting so I am not starting over from scratch with a design that I just need to re-work into a different size.
But in the last two weeks, when I drag the layers over, they start mysteriously changing into other layers that I did not drag over. What is causing this bug? It wasn't there before as I have performed this action many times in various projects. I am using PS CS6 on a Mac Book Pro.
I would like to increase the font size in many text layers at a time by selecting them in the layers panel. The font increases, but the text boxes don't expand to fit the increased size text. So I am having to make each box bigger manually. Is there a way to have the boxes expand to fit bigger text automatically through the layers panel?

am trying to edit a text layer but i am unable to open the text box to change text.
It creates a new text layer everytime i click on the layer.
I automatically updated last week for my 2014LT and since then the LAYERS hasn't worked properly. Layer Manger still seems to work correctly, but the Layers tab on the Home ribbon does not. I am running Windows 7 Ultra, Quad Core i7 with 16 MB of Ram, and had been running without errors until this last update.Â
When/if I select the "Freeze Layer" tab from the top ribbon, and then select the layer on the drawing it turns it off as it should, but if I then use the pull down to locate the layer and turn it back on, nothing happens. It does not appear again; it may not even show up now (see below). I found that if I go to LAYER MANAGER and turn on the layer it still doesn't turn on unless I turn it off and then back on; which will bring it back unfrozen. Also, some layers when frozen do not then show up on my pull-down list or LAYER MANAGER list unless I save the drawing and restart 2014LT. The layer then shows up on the Layer Manger and ribbon.?
Just love updates when everything was already working properly, and then they don't after the "Update"!Â
How can I update the data connection source for all the display map layers in my map layouts? If I want to change the shapefile a layer is representing I can not get the layer to point to the new shapefile.
The layer seems to always remember the name/location of the old shapefile. If I export the layer and modify the value in Notepad then load a new layer from the saved and modified layer file it will change. Â However I would have to do this for every layer I want to change.
Is there another way to change the property of this layer in AutoCAD?
Example: Â I create a drawing and layout with a Display layer that points to the FDO data for shapefiles "C:datauildings.shp".
I then give the drawing to another worker hows data is on "E:DATABUILDINGS.SHP" the data connection to the layer cannot be updated that I can see.
I'd like to know that if I update some text in Adobe Photoshop, and save it for web ! Than all that text changes into images in my web pages!
I want that text to remain editable in html editor like in dreamweaver!
I had made all the text layers (Type Layers) as hidden! and then saved for web but still there is no selectable text but all are images .. how to handle it
We use AutoCad to name our dxf files for our Burn Table and whenever we get a new part it is a repetitive task to input layers and common text. So what I am curious is can AutoCAD input the layers and text automatically using a Macro?
I want the Macro to put in 6 layers and choose the layer color and title then input text boxes with word in 3 different layers. There will be about a total of 10 different text boxes with text already put in the boxes by the Macro.
Yesterday I updated to version 13.0.4 and since I have noticed that the boundaries of textboxes disappear when they are dragged. Previously when i dragged a textbox I could see the boundaries as it was moved and could use that to align the text elements in a grid. Now however, it is only the text that is visible when it is dragged.

Other things I have noticed is that the text cursor itself has changed and is now missing the arrow which previously made it easy to accurately draw text boxes. Aside from that, although not specific to this update but since I have begun using CS6 is the fact that when I try to horizontally resize a text box it takes around a second after hovering over the anchor for the mouse to change to the resize cursor, although when resizing vertically or using one of the corner anchors this does not occur.

These featurest are essential to most of my daily work and are slowing me down considerably. If no solution is available is it possible to revert back to the previous version before I installed 13.0.4?

When you create a text layer, it automatically names the layer whatever you type. If you go and rename the layer, it keeps that name regardless of what you type on your document.
What I want to do is revert the layer back to doing it's auto naming thing. Is there any way to doa that?
I can't just do "undo". Its an old document. I know I can copy the text into a new text layer and it will name it the way I want to, but I don't want to do that if I don't have to.
I've been using Ps CS6 for a couple of months now, and I occasionally used CS5.1 before that. I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with its lack of interactive feedback during many manipulations. A lack of feedback which is provided in applications costing a small fraction of the price. This is 2012, Ps is a leading graphics app in some ways, but in other ways it is pitifully like a relic from the early 1990s.

You have text on a path and you decide to transform that path with Free Transform (Cmd+T). The positions of the text characters don't update while you manipulate the path! You don't see the changes until confirming the transform command.
my gimp 2.8.6 makes majority normal layers turn into text layers..
Even if i "discard text information" from layer..and then save it as .xcf it doesnt work! Same layers appear as text layers when i open that .xcf Its not a big deal but it really slows me down when im working with layers..
Trying X6 I found thing that's really annoying: every time I open my old files I have "Update text...." blue bar appearing.Â

In general. there'e many installed fonts with "O" sign, that means Open Type - but pressing Update Text gives NO RESULT.... So, in this case you have good question - For what this notification?...if it doesn't work....

adobes says the final ACR 7.2 update is available through the CS6 update.well that is of no use when you have offline computers. This update will be released as manual update file too?! any infos?
I created all of my annotative dimensions in the wrong scale and now in layout view they are too small and can't be seen. Model space was set to 3/4" = 1'. Once I got to Layout View, I realized I did not have enough space so I needed to size down to 1/2" = 1'. How do you go about changing existing annotative dimensions to another scale? I am using 2010.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am creating a layered marine chart with reference points. I've imported the chart and am creating text layers with a reference number in them.
I have about 700 of these to add - a daunting task - but it's for a NZ coastguard unit, so is worthwhile.
The idea is to have a layer with all our reference points on it, so when a chart is updated, we can just import the chart; add back the reference points layers and print it out.
(Why? NZ baynames, danger spots etc usually have 2 names; an english name and a maori name - sometimes we have to cross reference when on the water to find the correct place).
Is creating text layers the best way of doing this?
Is there any way of increasing the size of all the text - instead of having to edit 700 text layers?

I placed all my leaders (mleaders were used) and text, then I had to change my viewport rotation 180 deg. Now all my text is upside down. I change my UCS to view and new mleaders and text (which I don't need, I've already labeled everything)Â come in at the correct orientation, but all my original labels are rotated. How can I make these labels update? I'd really like to avoid having to relabel everything.

I have some text elements for a certain style that are too big. So I want to change them. I can of course use quick select and then set the height, but I'm wondering if there's a way to change the style and have it apply to all text with that style. When I try to modify the style nothing is changed in the drawing. Perhaps texts have the height override that of the style? If so, how do I set to default?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with some of our drawing sheet attributes that we are updating from a CSV file. The attributes are originally in Arial Bold but when we run the update routine the font disappears, if we run the update routine a second time it reappears correctly updated but the font has changed from Arial Black to Standard.
I have rebuilt the titleblock and get the same result.
I cant get into the routine because its locked away in an FAS file and the manager is on holidays for a couple of weeks.
Whenever I edit text in the pop-up dialog, there is usually an extra line inserted at the top of the text (a blank first line). I can't get rid of this extra line through the pop-up edit window, I can only delete it using the text tool directly on the page. This only started with the latest update.

Right now I’m using iLogic so I can change the text in User Parameters and that updates the embossed text. So where I’m having an issue is the Export Parameters tab is grayed out so I can’t get it work with my custom properties.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using PS7 for a long time and this has never happened before. One minute things were fine and then something changed. Maybe I hit a combination of keys .... well here's the issue. I type text onto a blank layer. I try to move the text. In the pallette, the cursor drops off the text layer, and onto the background, instead. In order to move the text, I wind up clicking on it numerous times, or if I click on it very slowly, I can grab it to move it. This is not how it was working just yesterday. I'm sure this sounds confusing, I'm just not sure how to describe it any better. (It's not my mouse, I tried a different one.) I tried Adobe's help site and saw this:"Clicking in an image with a type tool puts the type tool in edit mode. You can enter and edit characters when the tool is in edit mode; however, you must commit changes to the type layer before you can perform some operations. To determine if a type tool is in edit mode, look in the options bar--if you see the Commit button (a check)Â and Cancel button (circle with slash), the type tool is in edit mode."
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm sending a PS document to a printer and to avoid the problem of the printer possibly not having a specific font I'd like to turn all my text layers into shape layers.
Is there a way to turn all text layers in a single document into shape layers easily? I know I can do it individually layer by layer but that just seems too tedious.
I do not want to rastorize the text, just turn it into vector shapes.
I frequently save layouts I do in Photoshop as PDF's. Lately I very often will discover the text does not display correctly in the PDF. One or two lines of text will display as white with a thin black outline, rather than as the basic solid black I'd specified.

I work on a Windows 7 machine with the current version of PS. The text is on layers when I save the file to PDF (from PS), but I do not include the layers in the PDF, so they should be flattening down.

I noticed a few weeks ago when it was also doing this that I updated the program a day later and the PDF's were not exhibiting this issue. But, now it's starting again.
I run PS CS5 with Windows 7 on a Bootcamp Macbook.

About 40% of the time when I want to nudge slices, layers or text fields nothing will happen until I hit space (hand tool) and shift the canvas. It's as if moving it wakes Photoshop up and it re-renders the screen with the newly positioned element.

This gets quite tedious and like I say, strangely doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes I can shut the program down and it will go away when reopened and sometimes not. Other times, this bug won't happen for a day or two then rear its head again for no apparent reason.
