Photoshop :: Statue Of Liberty Modifications / How To Make It Look Realistically
Feb 18, 2012
I m trying to modify the statue of liberty a little bit but I can't figure out how to make it look realistically. I'm trying to make it look like the statue is wearing nothing. So far I have three layers.
One with the original statue, another one with a little bit of clone stamping, and one with a picture of a nude lady but how do I change the color of the nude lady so that it looks the same as the statue? (similar to this: [URL]Replace x with correct letter.

For a few days now I've been trying to think of a way to create realistically contoured textures, e.g., flowing hair or a cloth texture wrapped around a shape (as in clothing).
Of course, the ideal solutions are 1) rendering with a 3D program and 2) very careful painting. However, I was wondering if there was another way that it could be done utilizing Photoshop's tools. I'm a pretty experienced user and my daughter asked me if there was a way to do that the other day (she uses Photoshop to color in scanned hand drawings and is very interested in learning everything she can). Usually I've been able to guide her through a how-to, but this one threw me for a loop.
Techniques I've tried (implied in all of this is that the original texture is made already-using the Texturizer filter as an example):
1) Liquify tool (but ends up smearing everything around more than anything)
2) Dodging and burning to add light (but then the texture stays 2D)
3) Displacement maps (did Google several tutorials but got so-so results, the main problem is that you don't seem to have to much ultimate control on the final result, it tends to really distort the texture as the shape severely curves away from you)
So, before throwing my hands up I thought I'd toss it out to my fellow Photoshop friends...any ideas?
By the way, I am absolutely not against some careful painting nor am I looking for the magic wrap-a-texture-to-a-contour filter (I know it's not that simple)-just wondering if someone has any insight on some more powerful Photoshop functionality that will enable one to accomplish this.
I'm holding out hope for Displacement Maps-if anyone knows of some super in-depth tutorials out there, please share! I will of course continue the search myself and share my results with the crew.

I am using the roundabout design tool as the first step in developing the 2D design of a roundabout. I am having some trouble getting the defection path radii I need in order for the roundabout design to progress to the next step, however this can only be achieved if I can alter the alignment of the approach legs.
The default setting for the roundabout tool/wizard is for all alignment legs to intersect at the centre point of the roundabout - something which does not readily allow the deflection radii to be met even remotely (in this case and others)
Whenever I try and realign the alignment/approach leg and run the design wizard again (in the hope the other kerb alignments will realign to match), it jumps back to the initial alignment pointing to the centre point. Refer attached screen shots.
Of course designing the roundabout in the traditional way is always the sensible alternative to achieve the correct layout & deflection, however if this function exists it would be handy to speed up the initial design process.

I have two open drawings, a source and a destination drawing in ACADI have different layers and linetypes in each drawingI need to get the objects on a specified layer in the source drawing and copy them to the destination drawing, but ensure that they are put on a specified layer in that drawing which differs in name from the original drawing.
I've tried coming at this a few different ways, but can't really seem to come a conclusion on how to do this. WBlockCloneObjects, of course, allows me to clone the items to the new drawing, but in doing so, drags along all the layers and linetypes with it which I don't want "contaminating" my new drawing. I'm trying to keep the conversion as clean as possible. I can't pre-change the layer name or linetype, etc as the destination for these values doesn't exist in the source drawing.
Is there a way to create a new entity (an anonymous one, independent of the source ObjectClass that I need so I don't have to create multiple routines to handle each one), not attached to a DB, copy the values from the source DB entity and then modify the layer, linetype, color etc before appending the entity to the destination database?
Here is my code for what I have, but since I don't really have a clue where to turn with this, all this really shows at the moment is a straight cloning of the objects from one DB to another. As a side note, I'm working in Civil 3D 2011 and when WBlockCloneObjects is called an "AutoCAD Map Messages" window appears with no messages in it.
Public Function CopyLayerContents(ByVal acdocSource As Document, ByVal strSourceLayer As String, ByVal acdocDest As Document, ByVal strDestLayer As String, ByVal bCopyBlocks As Boolean) As Boolean
Dim bComplete = False
Dim acSourceDB As Database = acdocSource.Database
Dim acDestDB As Database = acdocDest.Database
[code]........

I worked for an architect in the past that had a modification of stretch that allowed you to set a dimension. For instance if you had a door way drawn in a stud wall set back from the wall 50mm and you wanted to change that to 100mm you could use the stretch command with another shortcut command to specify the distance from the wall.
The command list would be as follows:
-"s" (Stretch)
- Select objects to move, "Enter"
- Specify the basepoint to move (corner of door in this case).
-Then i would hit another command shortcut from there system. This would allow me to pick the point where i want the dimension to start from.
- Input the dimensions, in this case "100" , then enter to complete.
It seem simple the but very useful for more obscure applications.
I also understand in the application above you could just stretch 50mm across 50mm but this requires calculation. We want to get away from having to calculated all the time.

When I import images no matter if RAW or JPG, when I go to the development module all images have various modifications on all slidedrs from exposure to saturation. I haven't changed any settings or global settings but each slider will already be modified. Previously when importing images all sliders were set to ZERO, but now all of those sliders are anywhere from - to + modification.
LR 4.2, Windows 7 64-bit, 24GB ram, Catalog has been optimized, Develop Settings and Metadata setting are set to none on import.

We are in the process of setting a naming convention for all the various parts we use, and having changed the Inventor library already, the Autocad stations (ver 2011 mechanical) are next. While I won't be the one doing this work, I want to get a jump on it as it's impeding my current work. The problem is, I don't even know where to start looking. We would be starting with the fastener library, changing the standard descriptions to suit our new convention.

Any way in X5 to save or copy the modifications/effects from one photo to another? I took photos of some old building drawings and used clarify, noise removal, contrast, etc. I wanted to apply the exact same modifications to all of the other photos of the drawings. Is there a simple way to do this? Can I save it as a preset or filter or something similar. It would sure save a lot of time.

I've got a script for processing a bunch of files which starts by bringing up ufraw. I would like to have ufraw save the list of modifications made before returning to gimp. (.ufraw file)
However, when gimp starts ufraw, it passes some option to ufraw whichcauses ufraw to not display the save tab which allows setting what to save.
Is there a way to tell gimp to bring up ufraw differently, or is the problem in ufraw?

I'm working on a animation with a female model. It's a simple animation which I did with a couple of soft modification points. After that was done, I created the UV texture in Photoshop. At the point in the animation that the soft modification points deform the mesh the texture goes all crazy.
I know why that is, because the UV is projected and is not stuck on the mesh yet. I've worked the wrong way. Next time I will first add the UV texture and then animate the mesh. Now I'm having a duplicate of the model and deleted the history. The UV sticks on that mesh, but the softmodification points are also deleted. So the mesh doesn't deform anymore.
I've tried a lot of ways, but didn't find the solution yet. That's why my question is. How do you copy/reconnect the soft modification points on a identical mesh with a sticking UV texture? It's the same polycount, so I think it's possible. I've tried connecting the soft mods in the new mesh in the Hypergraph, but I didn't know which atributes I should connect. I also tried to bake a simulation, but Maya says he is calculating, but I can't see if it is working and how long it would take. I tried to export the animation and import it in a new scene with the history deleted model, but that wasn't the solution either.
I don't know if my story is all clear, but this i my goal. I want the animation on a model that has the UV texture sticking on it. What is the best way to get there?

I have a problem with the "in place" block editor, mainly because I fail to synthesise a sentence for the search that makes sense. My problem is that when I am in "edit block in place" mode I am still able to edit the drawing, so that I can still delete or stretch or move certain elements, even though they are not part of the block. This is quite annoying because it leads to unwanted changes and mistakes. Is there a variable or an option to change it and prevent any modification to anything outside of the block?

I just downloaded Photoshop CS6 for the first time I want to make animated GIFs for my blog on Tumblr, gifs that I can easily add my own watermark to, so If they're used, I'll have credit for creating them. I know a gif is a series of moveable pictures, but that's all I know. Any links to how-to articles/simplest information you can give will be extremely useful.

whenever I make a GIF in Photoshop, it becomes very pixelated and unclear. This is what l do to make a gif:
Step 1: Make GIF Layers
Step 2: Open Animation Window
Step 3: Select 'Make Animation from Layers'
Step 4: Save as GIF
If you can tell me some nice settings, that would be perfect.
