Photoshop :: Screen Shots With Consistent Size
Mar 15, 2012
I want to use screenshots of websites in a web based portfolio. The images should be about 200px * 300px, or so.  I'm having a hard time producing consistent results when cropping. I can do a screen shot of the entire screen for all of the sites and change the image size. The issue with this is that the shots are so small that the detail of screenshot is lost. This creates a very low quality image.
Â
I tried to solve this by cropping the screen shot to a only feature a portion of it which would produce a more "artsy" looking image that would show the details more clearly.  It was difficult to produce images that were sized consistently. There was no way to know what the exact size of the cropped image was.
Â
Can I define a size for a mask and then apply it, or reverse it, to have a clearly defined size?

how you all post screen shots, I'm an aide for my graphic design teacher and he asked me to write a tut on a simple animation i made. Problem is, the people I'm writing it for have never used image ready, I know it would help them if I added in screen shots, so they could see exactly what I meant, is there some program for this or I am I just not getting it?

I see often in forums and tutorials where the authors have pasted PS screen shots of various boxes from the palletes. How does one do these print screen of portions of the whole screen?

I find that when i am working on a file and try to save as web, the colour on my screen is lighter than the colour that the image has when i am on the saving as web window. How do i get to have a consistent color in both my on screen image and the one i am saving?
This is specially true for photos, they look pale and skin tones are dull. I want images to have the windows RGB profile even when i am saving them as web images.

I have been trying all morning to get Photoshop CC to open some screenshots I took, something that I've normally had no problem with. Any way I try to open the files (dragging them to the icon in my dock to launch Photoshop, openening Photoshop first and then going to File -> Open and opening them) causes PS to crash. This happens with old screenshots and new screenshots.Â
Â
I just got a new computer over the weekend and have gone from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. I'm not sure if the issue is with OS 10.8 or Photoshop CC 14.1.2?

I'm trying to create a street elevation using a series of screen shots taken from Google maps. Here an image of the type of thing I'm trying to achieve: Â
Â
You'll noties that the image is flat.. Is this something I can achieve using the perspective tool? If so, do I change the perspective of all the individual images and then merge them? Or do I merge them, and then change the perspective in sections?

I have about 2500 screen shots in png-format. I need to convert them all into b/w-pictures. How could this be done easily? Furthermore (but I guess that will be the issue in another list), I will have to run all these screenshots through an OCR-program. So what would be the best output-format for these screen shots?

I have noticed an inconsistancy in Photoshop with the font size. Today I created three new files, all three were 800 x 600 at 300dpi. I did my work on the images and then added titles to all three. My titles were 10pt font, Times New Roman, all with the same wording. Nothing special at all. In two of the files the font looks the same, in the third one the font is smaller even though it says it is 10pt. I saved them out as pngs and the font is noticably smaller on the one than it is on the other two. I have noticed this issue several times before but did not take the time to research. I have found nothing on this issues. I know it is not a system issues because I have seen this on different machines that I use and my coworkers have seen the same issue. It is not a version issue as it happens in CS6, CS4, and even earllier versions. It is also not limited to 10pt font, that is just what I was using in this instance. It has happened with many other sizes. I am currently using CS6 off the cloud, but I also have CS4 and the same thing happens there. The issue also appears in the CS version (yes we still have stuff that old).

I have just switched to using Xara Photo and Graphic Designer 6 for my graphics design needs. Is there any way to create a default page size so that no matter when the program is opened it will always open up to that particular page size?
I am used to working and creating on a full "blank canvas" or pasteboard, rather than using page sizes that Xara seems to prefer. Every time I open the program I have to return to page options to re-set all of my workspace parameters and it gets frustrating after awhile.
For example, my preferred page settings are as follows: Page Size=A0 (which provides me all white space to work in); Outer Margin=0in [8in is always automatically pre-set by the program]; and I always choose Landscape, but the automatic pre-set is always Portrait.
There should be a way for the user to control how the workspace appears each time the program is opened, but how to make my page settings "once" and then have those settings be the default from there on out. It's just time consuming to go into Options every time I open the program and have to re-set everything all over again.

Why is the image on the screen small the the actual file size. As an example I have an image thats 5.7x5.7 @72DPI. My canvas says 100% but the image on screen is about 3x3.

lately I've been started working on Illustrator, since I've always loved the vector pen tool in Photoshop, but I've notice something...
let's say I want to work on an A4 page. I start a new PRINT document, and set the A4 size at 300 DPI. If I do that on Photoshop, I'll get a huge white page that at 100% goes way out my screen, but if I start a document with the same size in Illustrator, I get a page that's smaller than my screen (at 100%).
I guess it's normal because those programs might work in different ways, but I'm concerned about it because this way, in Illustrator a 1pt size brush will always be bigger than in Photoshop.

When our photographer browses his folders with pictures and double clicks upon one of them (jpg-files always), his Photoshop (he uses CS3 and Windows NT) always opens up the file only shoving it as 16,3% size (or such, I can't remember the exact number)
As a result the picture hardly fills 1/4 or 1/8 of the available space in the Photoshop screen, and he always has to click the picture larger before being able to work in it.
He has recently got a new - and more powerful - computer, and he did not have the same problem when using the old computer, here his files always opened to the maximum possible size.

I consistently get this crash 3-5 times a day, if not more. Happens when dragging over images from Windows Explorer and dropping into a PSD. Or if I select color picker. And random other misc. tasks that seem to trigger a crash. It's to the point where I sometimes might have 3-5 recovered PSD files.

I consistently receive this error at least once a week, if not daily when working in photoshop CC. Using W7-64. It is so bad that I have had to change save settings to store every 5 minutes and lose quite a bit of work.

I'm used to a PC, but am having to use a mac once a week for a new job.
When I hit "Cmd -0" to view my image in its entirety, my background screen shrinks with it. Then, when I zoom in again, I have to expand the screen again.
I'd like to have my background to stay locked in the same position where I have placed it, with only my image file expanding or shrinking, as I work.

When I drag a photo file to Photoshop, it opens in a size significantly smaller than the workspace. (This is especially true with vertical [portrait] photos.) Therefore, every time I open a photo (and I do this typically hundreds of times a day...), I have to drag the lower right corner way out to enlarge the frame, and then I have to scroll the mouse wheel to make the picture expand to (approximately) fill the frame. Only then can I see it well enough to make the required ajustments to the file. Isn't there a way to tell Photoshop how large I want the photos to appear in the workspace, so it opens every new photo file to the same size? I am using Photoshop CS (not CS2 or CS3).

The color of the table is almost pitch black. I have tried for the past 3 weeks to get the table lighted with incandescent, fluorescent, even LED, with 1 source of light or multiple sources, but the lighting is not consistent. I'm thinking to use 1 source of light, say top left corner, take a picture and then I need some kind of tool to read the light intensity on all points of the table and build some kind of mask. Then I can apply the mask on any of my tables and get very consistent lighting. Is this possible in Photoshop?

Edits look nice in size such as fit screen, but awful in the larger views. Instructions have been to view edits at 100% but what size=what % view of what one would see the picture once it is viewed on a computer, figuring that people will not enlarge too terribly much.

I'm working on a large image and while the Organizer is fine with it, neither the Editor nor the Full Screen view of the Organizer will work with it.
Â
Currently I have MaxImageSize at 200M, but can't find a similar setting for the Editor, and clearly it doesn't work for the full screen view either, so if there is a setting that enables these functions, that would be useful information.

I have an image here, a product on grey seamless, and the rgb values across the seamless vary. In the top left the rgb values are around 200 - 208, in the bottom right the values are around 160 - 180. I need to make the values of the background close to consistent all around, however without just painting in a solid grey. There needs to remain some texture of the actual seamless. The result should be like the second image. Is there a way to achieve this fairly quickly and easily?

I am starting my Photography project for my Art A-Level and am in need of some assistance. The theme for the project is ''Light''. I need to find/take photos connected to proverbs or sayings, involving light (ie: ''There is light at the end of the tunnel" and "Every cloud has a silver lining").
The photgraph can also include a form of light, or an effect added in Photoshop
If anyone could post some ideas, whether they be connected to or involving light, or some effects that I could apply after the photo has been taken.

This is probably easy, but I'm a newbie to Photoshop. I was just on vacation, and took some pictures of some old castles. I couldn't frame the whole thing, so I thought I'd take several shots and see if I could merge them all together.
