Photoshop :: Why 10pt Font Not Of Consistent Size Between Files

Nov 5, 2012

I have noticed an inconsistancy in Photoshop with the font size. Today I created three new files, all three were 800 x 600 at 300dpi. I did my work on the images and then added titles to all three. My titles were 10pt font, Times New Roman, all with the same wording. Nothing special at all. In two of the files the font looks the same, in the third one the font is smaller even though it says it is 10pt. I saved them out as pngs and the font is noticably smaller on the one than it is on the other two. I have noticed this issue several times before but did not take the time to research. I have found nothing on this issues. I know it is not a system issues because I have seen this on different machines that I use and my coworkers have seen the same issue. It is not a version issue as it happens in CS6, CS4, and even earllier versions. It is also not limited to 10pt font, that is just what I was using in this instance. It has happened with many other sizes. I am currently using CS6 off the cloud, but I also have CS4 and the same thing happens there. The issue also appears in the CS version (yes we still have stuff that old).

My PC is an Alienware M15x Windows 7 64bit

Photoshop :: Screen Shots With Consistent Size

Mar 15, 2012

I want to use screenshots of websites in a web based portfolio.  The images should be about 200px * 300px, or so.   I'm having a hard time producing consistent results when cropping.  I can do a screen shot of the entire screen for all of the sites and change the image size. The issue with this is that the shots are so small that the detail of screenshot is lost. This creates a very low quality image.

I tried to solve this by cropping the screen shot to a only feature a portion of it which would produce a more "artsy" looking image that would show the details more clearly.   It was difficult to produce images that were sized consistently.  There was no way to know what the exact size of the cropped image was.

Can I define a size for a mask and then apply it, or reverse it, to have a clearly defined size?

Xara :: Consistent Default Page Size

Feb 5, 2011

I have just switched to using Xara Photo and Graphic Designer 6 for my graphics design needs. Is there any way to create a default page size so that no matter when the program is opened it will always open up to that particular page size?

I am used to working and creating on a full "blank canvas" or pasteboard, rather than using page sizes that Xara seems to prefer. Every time I open the program I have to return to page options to re-set all of my workspace parameters and it gets frustrating after awhile.

For example, my preferred page settings are as follows: Page Size=A0 (which provides me all white space to work in); Outer Margin=0in [8in is always automatically pre-set by the program]; and I always choose Landscape, but the automatic pre-set is always Portrait.

There should be a way for the user to control how the workspace appears each time the program is opened, but how to make my page settings "once" and then have those settings be the default from there on out. It's just time consuming to go into Options every time I open the program and have to re-set everything all over again.

Photoshop :: Font Changes Size / Despite Pt Size Set

Feb 20, 2012

We are overlaying a word or two on jpg's.  In the settings bar along the top, the font is set to 8pt.That has worked seamlessly, for some time.  Suddenly, though the pt setting is not changed, the actual text over the photo is larger - much too large to fit.  But changing the pt setting to a lower number still results in something too large.

is the sudden change in outcome, when there has been no change in the setting.  And no ability to get a correct font size. This is in Ps CS4, on Mac 10.6.8.  I have checked the font in Font Book (Myriad Pro), and no corruption appears for the font.

Photoshop :: Font Size 0

Sep 17, 2005

I have Adobe Photoshop 8 CS which I've used many times before without a problem. Recently I re-installed Windows XP (which I've also done many times before) and I noticed after re-installing Photoshop I cannot add text to images.

Whenever I try, I am able to select the area where I want to add text but the cursor doesn't appear and the font size is set at 0.01. I try to set the font size higher and it continuously drops back to zero. Oddly though, I am able to add text to images in Image Ready without a problem.

I've tried re-installing Photoshop again, cleaning the registry and temp files between installs and I get nowhere. I've never experienced this problem before and I'm usually the one giving help advice as opposed to getting it but here I seem to have no choice except to swallow my pride and ask. Would it be an issue with the font settings somewhere in Windows or has something perhaps messed up my registry?

Photoshop :: Font Size Input Bug?

Jun 17, 2012

In CS5.5 and previous, when text was selected/highlighted you could just click in the font size box and type in the size you wanted. This appears to be gone in CS6.If the text layer is selected you can but if you double click the type to go in and edit it, i can't input and manual font size value.... i can only choose from the default options. This is very hard to work around if you have specific sizes your fonts need to be & if there is more than one size i the same layer.how to get rid of the annoying placeboard/brandground that is in CS6. I'd like to get it back to how it was i.e no backgroud.

I've checked there's no overlapping text areas and things like that, everything should be fairly normal, it just isn't.

When I have a text layer selected (and then chose the font-size selector), I cannot use the scroll wheel (or the arrow keys for that matter) to change the font-size the way I do for the rest of text properties (let's say the font-family). In this particular case I have to click the font-size box in order to be able to manipulate it, and even so, there is not live-preview when the value changes, I have to press enter for it to take effect.

Photoshop :: CS6 UI Font Size No Longer Works?

Oct 5, 2012

Changing the UI Font size in Prefs>Interface>Text no longer works. It did work after I installed CS6 - I was able to change to the Medium setting, and change it back to Small.  Now the actua  text size stays at Small, even  though it is set to medium.  This afterafter I restart PSx64.

I have deleted CS6x64 prefs. Updated today - (says 13.0.1, though I believe the updater said it would update Photoshop to 13.0.1.1)

Windows Appearance and Personalization>Display is set to the default - Smaller.  I wonder it may have to do with changing that size - I had tried setting that to Medium - 125%, but set it back to the default Smaller - 100%. Not sure when the PS UI text size stopped working.

I hope that my mentioning changing the Windows 7 Display from 100% to 125% and then back to 100% will give someone a clue.
