Photoshop :: Scaling 3D Objects In CS6

View 5 RepliesIn Photoshop CC, smart objects that have a layer mask, always say they're at 100% (width and Height) even if they've been resized. If there is NO mask, the correct size appears. I hate this. It wasn't like this before, at least in CS4. Any reasons for this?
View 7 Replies View Relatedis there a workaround to prevent Photoshop modify the scale of 3D objects when importing them ?
In fact, PS try to optimize thesize of the object regarding the size of the picture...I should prefer either the opposite or nothing at all, to allow me to define the definition and the resolution of the file to allow me to print at scale 1:1 the different views of my model in orthographic view...
In addition it could also render different object imported one by one (at their respective scale) and merge in a single layer...
how line art changes when scaling object in AI CC? For example I have a logo file to deliver to client that doesn't have the font. In AI CS6 and below you can hold the shift key and resize objects smaller and keep the shape's intergrity. I've noticed in AI CC that resizing fonts converted to paths smaller does not hold the characters shape as well as previous versions of Illustrator. I understood the industry practice of converting fonts to paths as the last thing to do prior to shipping out a design to production. But what happens to logo files that get sent out to clients/vendors, for these files it is paramount to keep the shape intact.

The other thing is that I can not do a 1 dimension scale in 2D.
I created objects and extruded them and then I adding materials from the Autocad 2011 material library. I added brick to a wall and I was wondering what command I would have to type in to "scale" the brick size or just have a way so that the material will appear larger on the object because the bricks are quite small.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't get certain graphics to scale down correctly correctly.
Take a look at the 2 jpegs enclosed - one solid, the other with 1px outline. The graphic men were originally 40mm tall.
In each case the one on the left is the original. The one on the right is the same graphic reduced to 25% then enlarged to 400%. Both should look the same.
How to stop these distortions from happening? I've tried adding and releasing Compound Path, Grouping and Ungrouping, Selecting and deselecting 'Scale Stroke and Effects'. No combination works!
I'm especially confused about 'Scale Stroke and Effects'. Surely when it's selected, the outline should reduce to 0.25 px. It doesn't - it stays at 1px.
When I type in the command "SC" for scaling the object, it'll asks me to specify base point then I can enter what scale I want it to be, such as 2 times or 0.5 for half sacle.
with the new 2013 version, sometimes it'll exit the command if I select the insertion point of the block or if the object is at the 0,0,0 location of the drawing. it'll also give a message of "the scaling factor is too small". But I haven't enter what scale I want to scale the object yet.
I would like to scale all objects by x2 in Model Space using reference point xyz=0. Just like one would do via scale command. However, I would like to do so programmatically in VB.NET
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two "drawing title" lines in my block when I use the, stretch, move, scale parameter the attributes lose the position (the drawing titles lines are stacked) and will not scale with the rest of the objects. I tried all tricks that I could possibly think of but no success.
maybe LT2012 has a bug that does not allow me do this correctly?

how you get objects, say i drew a rectangle, to the correct size from model space to paper space. And why when you change the dimensions of an object to meters from milimeters, does it not change the size of the object on paperspace when it's at the same scale.

Taking a pdf file scaling up to full scale, she is not getting the correct measurements. She tested it to see if the same thing happened on another user's computer that is XP Pro XP3 with CorelDraw X5 and it does not have the same issue.
So it may be in CorelDraw X6 (she moved to X6 recently). Also, she said it does not happen consistently. Yesterday this was a problem, today with the same file it appears to be OK.
After drawing in model space(1:1 Scale) I then dimension as needed using Annotative Dimensions, Multileaders and MText using the same 1:1 scale. But when I create the variuos viewports on my layout pages the dimensions aren't scaling to the viewport scale.
This is where it may be partly my fault; When I first started using annotative dimensions etc. a box would pop up asking what scale to use. Because I am dimensioning in model space, rather than always seeing this text box I selected "Do not ask again" check box to always use 1:1 scaling.
These are some of the other settings in place;
ANNOAUTOSCALE = 4
Annotation Visibility = ON
Automatically Add Scales = ON
I have this problem with my selection tool i use to scale with my selection tool now all of a sudden i cant scale it gives me a block you can drag the object around but you can't scale the object for a fast scaling.. where do i change the setting of the selection tool back to scaling an object..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI love annotative scaling of objects it is a great feature. I am however having one problem that I'm not sure if I've missed a setting or something. Is there a way to prevent civil 3d from scaling your annotative objects based on the view scale you are looking at? For example if I zoom out (in model space or max viewport) to show my entire drawing and regen, civil 3d scales all my text and blocks to an enomous scale esentially blocking my entire drawing with solid colour. also if I zoom into a small area to do some detail work all my text becomes microscopic and unuseable. This makes adjusting text so it doesn;t overlap other text very difficult if it never appears at the correct size. Is there a way to freeze annotative objects at thier correct scale (for the current viewport scale) so they dont scale simply because you zoom in or out on a drawing?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI created a closed object that had a Bezier curve as part of it's definition. I wanted to scale it by 110% and then use this second enlarged object to create a sort of a background underneath the first object to create a sort of a shadow effect. But rather than the second object being uniformly larger than the first it intersects the original object in ways that don't make sense to me.
Is there an easier/differnt way to create an effect like this? I can do it but have to manually adjust a lot of points in the new object so that they create a uniformly larger version of the original object but it's a lot of effort for something that works fine for normal polygons with straight lines (e.g. a star with 5 points).
i've attached an image of what I get with this technique of creating two examples of two objects one a 110% scale version of the other. The first star shows the effect I'm trying to get and the second shows the problem (the red border does not surround the black object uniformly around the perimeter)
I have a problem: when i scale objects (even if I do a proportional scale clicking "Shift" button), the program automatically modify the alignment and the form of the object. for example if i scale a "stickman" which is completely symmetric, finally I have a figure with arms of different dimensions and proportions. Im using the cs5
The problem is not about the stroke dimension, is the path that is modified.
I have two art objects on two layers. I want to match to the pixel the two objects that otherwise could be exactly the same but one layered object was imported slightly smaller.
The scale tool has good scale handling, I just want to measure the tool spots to the pixel to gain an exact scale size factor and match sizes.
Why the drawing title in my dynamic block will not scale up or down. The rest of the objects scale properly but just this the drawing title text attribute will not follow suit.
I tried adding position point and link, etc....I run out options and don't know how to fix this.

New Responsive Scaling feature is great.
It's enabled me to add an Edge Animate file to my responsive Wordpress site using the Edge Suite Plugin.
Only problem for me is that although the 3.7MB file I’ve created scales perfectly on all devices it struggles to play on smartphones. (I assume it's too big and too power hungry to play smoothly on smartphones - even since I've added a pre-loader.)
So, in an ideal world, what I need is a separate low res Edge Animate file that only plays on smartphones.
Failing that, I’d be happy with a 'Down-level Stage' image which could replace the Edge Animate animation.
For a moment I thought I’d found a solution when I came across this Adobe TV movie: [URL]
Unfortunately this clever solution only works when the new Responsive Scaling feature is NOT selected. As soon as it is selected, the animation no longer changes from one layout size to another when the browser window is reduced.
I don’t mind whether the fix is in Edge Animate, Wordpress or the Edge Suite Plugin - I just want a solution!
We are designing some web graphics for a friend. By "we" I mean me and a guy who lives on the opposite coast.
He did the initial page layout/design as a PhotoShop tif, at 300 dpi, in layers and about 5 inches wide. The idea, on his end, was that it would be a small file size and, therefore, faster to download on my end. With me so far?
Anyway, I'm suppose to convert it to 800 ppi wide, 72 dpi, jpg. Sounds easy enough. Or not Do all the scaling and now the graphics don't look right. None of the layer effects are right!
How do I scale his graphic, for my purposes and, once it's the size I need it, have everything look the way he created it?
Example: Text at that 5 inch wide, 300 dpi size with a one point stroke on it looked find when the graphic was 5 inch wide and 300 dpi, but at 800 ppi wide and 72 dpi, it's all wrong
Is there a preference or something I should be clicking somewhere and I'm just missing it?
I am currently selecting 10 objects from a picture and then I delete the background. This leaves just the 10 objects of interest in the image.
I have hundreds of these images and would like to compare the number of pixels or diameter of the objects across the images for each of the 10 objects. Is there a way I can automate Photoshop to go through a directory of images and measure the pixels of each of the 10 objects, and then export those measurements to a file?
I'm having a scaling issue in PS CS6. I'm on a new Matchbook with Retina display and OS X Mountain Lion.
What happens is when I open up an image thats say 500X500 pixels and view it at 100% it's displaying it at around 300X300 scale. When I view the same image on the web at 100% (via safari, chrome, Firefox) i'm seeing the image at the correct size. Why is it showing so small in CS6.
I am working on some fairly basic 3D extrusions. I am applying materials to the different objects (eg. Marble), however, when the marble is placed it is too large. I want to scale the overall pattern/material down.
How do I go about doing this?
Pasting an AI element into Photoshop as a smart object. On paste and then selecting smart object, the transform controls read 100%/100%. After hitting return to paste, the transform controls are disprorportionate, like 92.08%x x 102.07%h.

When I'm creating non-smooth icons pixel by pixel, sometimes by mistake I draw them bigger or smaller and then I try to resize them it blurrs the thing up!
It would be nice to have that antialias effect turned off at will when resizing.
Does anybody know how?
