GIMP :: Colours Wrong When Opening And Saving?
Sep 17, 2009Whenever I open an image in Gimp, it's just a little off colour. Then when I save it as an image file (usually png), it's even more off colour than what's displayed in Gimp. For example, if the image starts out with a grey background of 808080 (RGB Hex Value, 16-bit), in Gimp it's 7F7F7F, and when I save as a png, it's 6E6E6E (honestly, how does that make sense under any circumstances?). I've tried every combination of settings under colour management, to no avail. Once, I managed to get Gimp to display the correct colour, but when I saved it as a gimp file, and re-opened it, it was wrong again.

I first create the digital files of the invitations in Adobe Illustrator CS5, then secondly I email the PDF file to my customers, and finally the customers are responsible for printing the invitations themselves. Some people print from a home computer, some have a local print shop print them (professional OR places like Staples and Office Max), and some upload the design to an online print service.

I use Adobe Illustrator CS5 and cmyk colors to create my file.

2 times this year I have run across a problem that I don't know how to fix. The customer says that when they print the PDF at home AND at a local print shop (Staples or otherwise), the colors are not right. Specifically, my Peach color was printing Brown for her, and my light Pink color was printing Tan for her.

The first file I sent her was a PDF that I created from Illustrator. I also imported the .ai file into my Photoshop Elements 5.0, and then saved it as a JPG and PSD. Those two printed the same results for her. She printed from home and from Staples. Both printed wrong.

I have made 250+ sales in the last 12 months, and this is only the second time it has happened.
Photoshop :: Consistent Color In Screen Image And Saving
Aug 25, 2005I find that when i am working on a file and try to save as web, the colour on my screen is lighter than the colour that the image has when i am on the saving as web window. How do i get to have a consistent color in both my on screen image and the one i am saving?
This is specially true for photos, they look pale and skin tones are dull. I want images to have the windows RGB profile even when i am saving them as web images.
Illustrator :: Saving A PNG For BOTH Screen And Print
Jan 20, 2014I have a client who is requesting that their "image" be saved as a PNG at "715px X 915px at 72 dpi", and have it print with the text crisp and clear. I have tried to convince them to use a PDF instead to ensure that the print quality would be where they want it to be however they reject that idea.

1. They are requesting 72 dpi not ppi. There is a difference, one is screen one is print. You cant have both in my opinion. I have been using ppi, since that is the setting that illustrator and photoshop allows.

2. You also should not save anything for print at 72 ppi. That will not produce the best quality image regardless.

3. I have attempted several different ways to save this.

- I have saved it in illustrator as a png and mulitple resolutions.
- I have used my illustrator png and put in Photoshop and re saved it, after re sizing it. The dimensions in illustrator never seem to stay accurate.
- i have attempted to save it as a PDF and convert to PNG is acrobat.

None of these work. There is no issue getting it to look nice on screen, its the printing part that I am having an issue with. When I save it at anything higher then 72 it increases the dimensions. If I create it at anything higher then 72, the dimensions increase as well. I have not been able to keep it at 715px x 915 px and have it print clearly. They come back and tell me i need to decrease the size, or the text is too blurry.

How do I get this PNG to be 715px by 915px at a 72 ppi (or dpi) resolution look good on screen, and print with clear crisp text?

Jun 3, 2013I'm here with 2013 SP2 64 bit Build 200 and two screens. Left screen is graphics area, Browser is on the left of right screen. Graphics is ATI Fire Pro V7800 with driver 9.3.3.3000.

Now, in many cases, after doing an operation, the browser is jumping back to the middle of my graphics in the left screen.

Photoshop Elements :: Saving Revised Photos Without Saving Original?
Oct 16, 2012I have started editing photos using the Photo Fix Options in Instant Fix. I have then switched to Photo Editor to fine tune my edited picture. When I use save or save as, to save the edited picture both the edited and original appear in the files. If I start in in Photo Editor and save there is an option to uncheck that reads "Save in version set with Original" However I am more comfortable with beginning in Instant Fix and then switching to photo editor. For some reason when I go to save after switching from Instant fix to Photo editor the uncheck feature is no longer available. step by step instructions to save revised photo afterusing Instant Fix first then Photo Editor.

The capture is a bit laggy so both brushes look a little delayed, in reality the CS6 cursor paints exaclty where you'd expect it to, the CC one is offset and it feels very unnatural. It's most evident on the first 2 strokes.Some system info, if it's of use:

Sep 22, 2013I'm having problems with PS showing red and purple as blue. The RAW's are oversaturated with blue and nothing I do can reverse the colours. Both camera, PS and monitor is set to aRGB and the RAW files is showed correctly in the Windows folder. both the highlight and shadow warning are turned off!

Nov 29, 2012user now using CS5.1.I develop webpages and quite often pend much time optimizing my imagesI have a small 20 x 20 picture used for a repeatable background. I try to save it as a gif and manage it go get all the way down to 200 bytes... Well thats at least what Photoshop tells me. Cos when I check in OSX 10.8.2 it tells me its acutally 1.2 kb... I originally made this picture in 40 x 40 which at the moment is 700b, so this makes no sence, that its not smaller than my 40 x 40. And I can see its not the wrong options I choose when saving.
I've also uploaded the image to my server, so see if it was a OSX-issue, but its still over 1kb... Is it a known bug or?

Jul 18, 2013I have a windows 7 based machine with 24gb of ram and a 560to geforce video card and 980x CPU. have just reinstalled Photoshop cs5 and newest update, Photoshop now opens images at a viewing percent that is a lot smaller than the previous installation, currently a vertical image is 16.7% and a horizontal 25%, these should be 25% and 33.3% to almost fill the screen. what can I do to get images to open at a bigger zoom percentage?

Photoshop :: Wrong Application Opens Instead Of PS/IR
Jun 13, 2006I downloaded MacHacha because I needed it to join some segments for Toast . So, I open ImageReady and use it but I look in the dock and notice a funky icon and not the right one but again, it still works but I don't trust it. I close IR and re-open it but MacHacha opens instead. I go to my Adobe Photoshop folder which contains IR with the right icon but it still opens MacHacha. So, I click get info in finder and it says that IR is a MacHacha file. WTH? I don't even know how but after I copied IR to my applications but not in my PS folder and I right-clicked get info and it says Kind: Adobe IR but it's the wrong icon. I can use IR but it's all messed up. I opened it from the PS folder and got info and it says it was modified on the 10th which I don't understand. I've used it since then and right until last night, it was working fine with the right icon etc. I also can't jump from IR to PS but the reverse works. I even tried adding IR to the dock from Apps (not PS) and the right icon appeared. However, when I clicked on it, it didn't worked and the wrong icon is shown right next to it. Here are some captures, don't click- C&P. Now, it's happening with PS 7 which is recognized as a MacHacha file.

Apr 10, 2004i have recently switched to ps 7 and i find myself wanting to go back to my 5.5
what is wrong with the guides in there? when using the snap to guide, and i select something within the guides, the stupid selection sometimes falls short or too big by 1 pixel. this renders the whole purpose of the guides useless.
i also find that its much harder to set the guides to match up. i set them, sometimes even zoomed in at 200-300% and when i zoom in more 1600% i find the guide not quite where its supose to be.
i didnt have any of these problems with my previous version. i looked around in the options and couldnt figure anything to make it better.

Mar 3, 2009I've been having a problem recently that Photoshop shows the wrong thumbnails in the Custom Shape Picker. The thumbnail doesn't fit the actual shape. I tried resetting the shapes which didn't help. Brush thumbnails and others still work fine.
Everytime I open the Shape Picker it shows different thumbnails, sometimes the same for all shapes.
