Photoshop :: Saving Large PSB As JPEG / BMP

Jun 1, 2012

I have a large psb file which is an image of 39k by 27k pixels at 48 bpp. The image size is about 5.7 GB. PS CS6 trial only gives me the option to save it as a TIFF or Photoshop RAW only. I would like to use this large image as a master copy from which I can sample lesser quality images for printing. How can I save such images as a JPG or BMP file, that is down sample it and place the result in a smaller jpg or bmp file?

I read some other similar discussions and they all concern problems with the plugins folder. I have not inserted any plugins from previous CS versions. The only plugins that I have in there are authorized CS6 plugins for the scanner fix from Adobe. Is it even possible to down sample from such a large image?

Photoshop :: Saving Large TIFF Files As JPEG

Apr 9, 2013

I scanned, as a tiff file, a full-center spread of a large newspaper. This had to be scanned in eight sections, the pages were so big on my A4 scanner window. When I joined all the sections up in Photoshop CS5, the size of the file was huge (about 21 inches by about 19 inches) It is also digitally large (about 320 MB, since the resolution is 300 dpi).

Because I want to keep the composite photo but don't want the file to be so digitally large, yet need the good resolution, I thought it would be a good to save it as a JPEG file, which would give me the dimensions I need but not be so digitally bulky as the original. On pressing the drop-down menu for Saving As, the JPEG option did not appear in the dialogue box. Why is this, and how may I save the file in JPEG format?

Photoshop :: How To Convert Large TIFF To JPEG

Jul 11, 2013

I want to convert a large tiff(490MB) into a JPEG in Photoshop with CS5. The "save as" options don't show JPEG as an option. The image is in 8 bit mode already, and I've tried cmyk and rgb mode. "Save for web and devices" is also not an option. The image is one layer.

Photoshop :: Open LARGE JPEG File

Apr 3, 2013

I was scanning a roll of drawings on a large format scanner, and I ended up with JPGs that are larger than 30k pixels wide. (I understand this is a limitation PS has)

The issue is, I spent hours scanning all these rules, and now I have a few JPEGs files that are very large (45k x 10k pixels), that I cannot open at all). The JPGs open fine in the windows viewer, so I know they are not corrupt.

If I can find someway to open them, I can then resize them slightly to fit within the limit, or save them as (PSB - Large Format). One of the ideas I had was to find some other software that I can use to open and re-save, or to split the JPGs in 2 or 3 pieces, and then piece them back together in Photoshop.

Photoshop :: Large JPEG Parsing Errors

Sep 26, 2008

I'm having issues opening JPEG files with a large pixel size. I'm using Photoshop CS3 Extended under Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, I have 4GB RAM (So just over 3GB effective in XP) and an AMD Athlon 6x X2 4200 Dual-CPU. My page file is set to 8GB! Photoshop is set to use up to 80% of my RAM

The issue relates to all large images I try to open, but the example I am going to use as an example regards a stitched panorama with pixel dimensions of 38,156 x 2,207. I know that is huge for most people.

When trying to open the image in Photoshop i get the following message:

"Could not complete your request because of a problem parsing the JPEG data"

I think the issue relates to the size of the image, but it opens fine in windows picture and fax viewer, and also in Paintshop Pro X2 (Though in PSP X2 i can only modify the first 24,000 pixels accross before it refuses to do anything else)

Why can't photoshop open the images, i would reduce their size, but i need them for a room-sized display (Some 20 feet long) so i can't reduce the image size without losing quality when they are printed. On the other hand i can't print them until i correct some image/colour issues with photoshop.

Photoshop :: Get JPEG Error When Trying To Open Very Large TIFF

Feb 29, 2012

An associate is trying to open a 60,000 x 60,000 tiff file using PS CS5.1-Extended on a windows 7 platform with 6G RAM.

He gets the error message "Photoshop can only decode JPEG encoded images up to 32767 pixels wide of tall."

I suggested that he might have a jpeg whose extension got changed to tiff. He says no, it's a tiff, and besides how would one generate a jpeg that size.

Photoshop :: CS5 / PDF File Saving Too Large?

Feb 27, 2013

I have CS5 and whenever I try saving any file type to PDF it maximizes the file size tremendously. I have flattened the layers so that is not the issue, and it doesnt seem to do it with other file formats, so it makes me think there is a hidden preset that i cant find pertaining to PDF formatting. Example: Opened up a PDF file sized at 3.1M, and saved it without making any changes and it jumped to a size of 10.3M. (I tried doing the same thing in Photoshop 7 and the file stays at the size of 3.1M.)

Photoshop :: Saving Large JPGs

Dec 18, 2003

I'm having some trouble saving large, print-quality jpgs at 150 dpi. It seems that photoshop will only save the files, as long as they don't exceed a certain physical size.

The size I'm trying to save right now is 37" x 33" in inches or "5550 x 4950" in pixels.

When I save the file, even if I move the compression slider down halfway, it'll save, but it won't allow me to open it again, saying "invalid jpeg marker type found."

Photoshop :: CS6 Very Slow Saving Large Files

Jul 1, 2012

I have recently moved from PS CS5 to CS6 and have noticed what seems to be an increase in the amount of time it takes to save large files. At the moment I am working with a roughly 8GB .psb and to do a save takes about 20 minutes. I have had to disable the new autosave features, otherwise it just takes far too long.

CS5 managed to save larger files, more quickly and with less memory available to it. Looking at system resources while Photoshop is trying to save, it is not using its full allocation of RAM specified in performance preferences and there is still space free on the primary scratch disc. The processor is barely being used and disc activity is minimal (Photoshop might be writing at 4mb/s max, often not at all though according to Windows).

I am finding the new layer filtering system invaluable so would rather not go back to CS5. I can do to speed up the saving process?

Photoshop Elements :: Saving PDF Files In A Size Too Large For Transmission By Email

Jan 14, 2014

I'm having a problem with PSE 11 saving my files in a size too large for transmission by email even when I use the "low" quality option.  I have to send files for commerical ads for review to clients via email and even set at "low" for an 8.5 x 11 page the size of the file is 25mg as opposed to 33.7 for "high".  The jpg file set a high quality is only 4mg.  Is there an issue with the PDF format on PSE 11 (didn't have this problem until I upgraded)?

CorelDRAW X5 :: Can't Export Large PDF Or JPEG At 100% Scale At 150dpi

May 29, 2012

I am trying to send a file to a printer for a banner for a client. They only accept a pdf or jpeg at 100% scale at minimum 150dpi resolution.

I banner is over 12 metres long (12,935mm X 1100mm) and only contains vector items.

I am using corel draw x5 and have installed service pack 3. And it won't let me do either.

The largest jpeg corel will let me export at 150 dpi is 5080mm long. Any way to export larger jpeg?

When i export to pdf the resulting pdf is just blank! When I import the pdf back into corel, it imports back into corel perfectly and there doesn't seem to any issues (even tho the pdf is blank). however when I sent the file to the printer, they said it was blank as well. I read some forums that said pdfs have a limit of around 5metres, which explains the pdf issue. Even though the printer told they print pdfs larger than 5 metres all the time.

Photoshop :: Saving In JPEG

Feb 26, 2013

I have an old (as in OLD) version of Photoshop- Photoshop 7 that was a (uhm) gift from a friend, it's always worked 'well enough' for me in the past, but in the last few months I've been having issues saving something as a JPEG file.

The program will let me save it, but when I go back later to open the file, I will get an unwelcome pop up box announcing "Could not open _____ because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found" I finally started saving everything as a PSD or PNG file just so I could keep working, but I need to start converting all these files to JPEGs so I can keep working! Photoshop isnt doing this all the time, but enough that if I start saving things a JPEGS I'll stop checking my files after a few times, and them WHAM- I have 6 or 7 files that I can't access anymore!

Photoshop :: Saving As A JPEG

Jun 6, 2008

When Im using a pdf or a psd file, certain instances wont save as a jpg unless I follow the suggestion below.

"could not save a copy as'fileserver...plan.jpg' because there is not enough memory (RAM). try saving without optimization or as baseline JPEG"

This is usually when there are larger files being worked on, but it never used to do this before.if I do as the error says it works but it is in bad quality.

I have got 4GIGs of ram and 4GIGs of V-memory in place I cannot add any more to it.

I.m trying to save some of my digital photos, which are .jpegs, in a .BMP format and at a high resolution, around 400-500 Dpi. I managed to change one of them, using Adobe PhotoDeluxe, and it came out at 118 MB. It's just what I wanted. But when I tried to do this a second time, I couldn't duplicate my actions. The second photo came out only at 3.8 Dpi.

I need the big files for work I'm doing in Paint Shop Pro. I have Adobe PhotoDeluxe HE 4.1 and PhotoShop 7, MGI Photo Suite, PrintShop and others.

Photoshop :: Saving In Jpeg/jpg Format

Nov 5, 2008

I just purchased Photoshop Elements 7, hoping for a simpler piece of software.

1. It comes with no manual so I'm no better off than with the company installed Photoshop 7 software from several years ago.

2. When I go to save a photo I have no option to save as a jpeg/jpg file.

When I try the Help tab, I eventually find that PSE 7 does supposedly save in jpeg/jpg format. If it does where the heck is that option in my save/save as menu?
