Photoshop :: CS Gives JPEG Saving Options?

Jan 31, 2006

1) I scan an image and its 300dpi. when i open it in ps its 72dpi. what's happening?

2) When i create a new document/clipboard etc to start working, i only have the option to go up to 8bit or 16 bit RGB... Can't it go any higher? does this affect item1?

3) if i try to drag an image into this 16bit window it tells me the target document has a different depth than source document and it will result in lower than expected quality..... how can i avoid all this?

4) Sometimes i can save my psd as jpeg and sometimes i cant... I dont get that option...what's going on?

Photoshop :: JPEG Options Dialog Box

May 13, 2004

Sometimes when I save an image as a jpeg the dialog box defaults to a higher compression and lower image quality. I change it to the highest quality but when I save the next image it is again at the lower quality setting. How can I get it to default to the highest quality setting or at least stay at the last setting.

Photoshop :: JPEG Quality Options For Print

Oct 16, 2006

I have been told that when sending my JPEGS to my PRO lab that I can save them with a JPEG image quality of 10 instead of the maximum of 12. They say that there is no difference in the 10 versus the 12 in print quality. Is this true or are they just telling me this to save capacity and space on their server? The bulk of my print sizes are in the range from 4x6 to 8x10. Why are there 12 quality options to choose from? What are the differences from low, medium, high and maximum?

Photoshop :: Compression Options When Saving As TIFF

Mar 7, 2012

Adobe Photo Shop CS5 offers three options for conversion of a RAW file to TIFF (LZW, ZIP, and JPEG).

I do not understand which of these employ the "run-length encoding" scheme that should make the TIFF file much smaller than the RAW file.  I  have used all three types of compression but the only one that resulted in a substantial reduction in size was the JPEG compression.

The TIFF file with no compression is actually twice the size of the raw file. What are the LZW and ZIP compressions actually doing?

Photoshop :: Saving In JPEG

Feb 26, 2013

I have an old (as in OLD) version of Photoshop- Photoshop 7 that was a (uhm) gift from a friend, it's always worked 'well enough' for me in the past, but in the last few months I've been having issues saving something as a JPEG file.

The program will let me save it, but when I go back later to open the file, I will get an unwelcome pop up box announcing "Could not open _____ because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found" I finally started saving everything as a PSD or PNG file just so I could keep working, but I need to start converting all these files to JPEGs so I can keep working! Photoshop isnt doing this all the time, but enough that if I start saving things a JPEGS I'll stop checking my files after a few times, and them WHAM- I have 6 or 7 files that I can't access anymore!

Photoshop :: Saving As A JPEG

Jun 6, 2008

When Im using a pdf or a psd file, certain instances wont save as a jpg unless I follow the suggestion below.

"could not save a copy as'fileserver...plan.jpg' because there is not enough memory (RAM). try saving without optimization or as baseline JPEG"

This is usually when there are larger files being worked on, but it never used to do this before.if I do as the error says it works but it is in bad quality.

I have got 4GIGs of ram and 4GIGs of V-memory in place I cannot add any more to it.

Photoshop :: Saving A .jpeg To A .BMP

Oct 4, 2004

I.m trying to save some of my digital photos, which are .jpegs, in a .BMP format and at a high resolution, around 400-500 Dpi. I managed to change one of them, using Adobe PhotoDeluxe, and it came out at 118 MB. It's just what I wanted. But when I tried to do this a second time, I couldn't duplicate my actions. The second photo came out only at 3.8 Dpi.

I need the big files for work I'm doing in Paint Shop Pro. I have Adobe PhotoDeluxe HE 4.1 and PhotoShop 7, MGI Photo Suite, PrintShop and others.

Photoshop :: Saving Images As JPEG

I've never seen this before, but when I scan an image or even create an image and try to save it as a JPEG so it's smaller and easier for others to view Photoshop freezes...kind of. All of the buttons become inaccessible and the image does not save. I can't even close Photoshop until I enter task manager and end it manually.

I recently edited a photo of mine in Photoshop CS5 and when I save it to JPEG format and open it, the color is completely different. I've searched the web but for me solutions hasn't worked such as using sRGB and changing the working spaces to adobe RGB (1998). Both of which hasn't worked.

Photoshop :: Saving Large PSB As JPEG / BMP

Jun 1, 2012

I have a large psb file which is an image of 39k by 27k pixels at 48 bpp. The image size is about 5.7 GB. PS CS6 trial only gives me the option to save it as a TIFF or Photoshop RAW only. I would like to use this large image as a master copy from which I can sample lesser quality images for printing. How can I save such images as a JPG or BMP file, that is down sample it and place the result in a smaller jpg or bmp file?

I read some other similar discussions and they all concern problems with the plugins folder. I have not inserted any plugins from previous CS versions. The only plugins that I have in there are authorized CS6 plugins for the scanner fix from Adobe. Is it even possible to down sample from such a large image?

Photoshop :: Invalidly Saving JPEG?

The program is not crashing mid-save (unless it is crashing and recovering without me needing to re-open it). Other file types seem to be saving just fine, though PNG ones seem a little touchy.

also is there a way to turn off color management completely? i can set the preference to not manage colors but it defaults to my monitor color profile and i don't want it period.

Photoshop :: Saving In Jpeg/jpg Format

Nov 5, 2008

I just purchased Photoshop Elements 7, hoping for a simpler piece of software.

1. It comes with no manual so I'm no better off than with the company installed Photoshop 7 software from several years ago.

2. When I go to save a photo I have no option to save as a jpeg/jpg file.

When I try the Help tab, I eventually find that PSE 7 does supposedly save in jpeg/jpg format. If it does where the heck is that option in my save/save as menu?

Photoshop :: RGB Values Change When Saving As JPEG?

Aug 25, 2013

I open my file (which has an embedded srgb color profile) in photoshop (my rgb values are 246/205/218). When I use the color picker, it confirms that my color is accurate. Then I save the file as a JPEG (using maximum-12, and baseline), also embedding the same srgb color profile into the photo (which is also my working space btw). Then when I reopen the JPEG file in photoshop, and use the color picker.... my srgb values are (246/205/219). The difference is so small that it doesn't make a huge difference, but why is this happening? My PSD file has of course maintained the original rgb values.

Photoshop :: CS4 - JPEG Looks Different Than Actual Image After Saving

My image in photoshop has thin lines, but when I save it, the jpeg shows the image with very thick dark lines, looking not like the image in photoshop. Why does it do this? How can I stop PS from doing this to my image? I want the image to look as it does in Photoshop when I save it as a Jpeg.

This is in Photoshop CS4

As it should be (using the snipping tool (I can't use the snipping tool as my only option, because it will only capture the size as it is on the screen, not the actual dimensions in Photoshop)

Saved as a Jpeg; the lines are thicker, and now there is little variation in line weight.

Photoshop :: Saving CR2 File To JPEG Format

When trying to save a .CR2 file into JPEG format, CS5 automatically switches to the 'hand' icon for resizing the image in the window.

Sometimes it is possible to 'escape' from this, but the problem repeats and the only way out is to 'close' the image (the only option available). CS5 then crashes out.  (64bit CS5 on Win 7 Ultimate).
