when trying to access/apply a layer style (like "stroke" or "bevel and emboss"), i get a "could not complete your request because of a program error." this just started.

If I start a new document they work.
Unable to use 3D repousse Photoshop CS5 Extended (my system info is described below)I tried almost everything that is available in Adobe library, also re-installed programs as requested by Adobe support (suspected to get rid of me), it did not solve the problem.
I used to have 3D capabilities, and also crop tool worked well before (now it changes all layers when using crop even in background). My PC is same, nor I downloaded plugins or changed video cards (these things are too advanced for me!), also restored preferences many times.
My system makes automatic updates, reviewed graphics and adobe as recommended. OpenGL settings is odd …only can access basic, other modes are not highlighted (normal or advanced).
ERRORS (for 3D Text)
1-“Your 3D scene now exceeds the limits of lights and/or textures for the video card’s hardware-accelerated 3D rendering. As long as the limits are exceeded, 3D rendering will be done in software only, and some features (e.g Repousse)will be disabled.”
2- “Your video card does not meet the requirements for hardware-accelerated 3D rendering. All 3D will be rendered with software only “

Is it possible that I have a GPU Sniffer? all these terms I have learned recently =) but I have a healthy & capable graphic card and accepted by adobe standards.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do update the styles library to keep from getting the Styles Conflict error box. I have used the Standard.dwg file that loaded with Inventor 2012 but everytime I change styles and save the changes in a new template in reverts back to the library definitions.
I used to be able to select 'NO' in the LIbrary option of the Projects Folder but that optiion no longer exists.
It appears that the Layer Filters functionality is broken again with 2013. Unchecking the "Apply layer filter to layer toolbar" disables the function of layer filters in the tool palette.

I have tried to do the update when I first turn the computer on, go directly to Photoshop, go to update and click on that, get new screen, close Photoshop, and I still get a message to close the already closed program. I believe I have to open Photoshop to get to the update area, so I don't know how to get around this issue. (I use win8, 64 bit)

I have been re-saving many of my PSD files using CS3 image prosesssor with compatibility mode turned off. They have simply been saved again as PSD files into a different folder - no changes to the original PSD files. This has worked well and reduced file sizes by up to 50% (I had compatibility mode turned on previously).
of the 60 files I have processed, 3 will no longer open , I get a message that says "file will not open due to a program error."
these files have only ever been used in CS3. , they are quite large
from just under 1GB to 1.5GB, however other similar large files have processed successfully. I have re-tried without success.
I still have the original files so no data loss is involved.
I'm trying to clip a layer onto another layer that contains styles. Whenever I do this though, the layer I'm clipping appears to disappear. My guess is that it's inheriting the styles from the layer it's being clipping onto, and so it's indistinguishable.
So my question is how can I clip onto a layer with styles, but not inherit? I can't seem to find any 'clipping layer properties' kind of thing, or anything that allows me to specify it
I was working on a project in Premiere Pro 6. I had imported about 200 files and almost completed the project. I tried to import another file and the import function would not work. In addition, it disabled about 90 percent of the program. Menu selections had turned grey. I closed the project and program and restarted, opening a much smaller project. Worked OK until I tried to import. The import wouldn't work, and the program was disabled. This is not a case of actually selecting a file to import. The function crashes before you have a chance to actually select a file. On deadline.

All updates to Photoshop were installed last time I ran it with no problems.No new hardware has been installed since.Installed Classic Shell since last use, so I uninstalled it but the error persists.Installed Diet Tracker but they don't interfere with each on on the system at home so I know there's no problem there.Nothing else installed except Windows updates.I tried restoring back to the last time I used it still got the error, so undid the restore.I tried repairing Photoshop .no change.I uninstalled Photoshop, rebooted, installed Photoshop. it loaded slower then and the last thing I saw load was plugins then something about Python and then the error again.When I try to open the program, it goes so fast that I can't see what's loaded and where it stops now.
My computer had 37 viruses on it, and they got destroyed. This was a few days ago. Today, I click My photoshop cs5 extended and it gives me an error messege.Configuration Error uninstall and reinstall the product.

I installed CS3 extended and plugged in my serial number and was greeted with a shiny green check mark (please note this is not just some generic photoshop liscence it is recognized by the software itself). Then I began the activation nightmare that I am currently having. I clicked activateActivate nowThen I got an error telling me to pease try activating by calling customer care.I did that I went through the automated system with m serial numberand activation key and then it said it was unable to process so I retried. Still no luck, then I got a live person on the phone. Here is what they told me:You do not have a valid serial number...Odd, I thought, since your software recognized it as a valid liscence. Thank you to me too for buyinga legitimate copy and not going with a free alternative (paint.net as been fine in the past thank you).So I continued the discussion until I finally asked for a supervisor who was slightly more willing to talk about a way we could resolve the activation problem. I am stuck getting the original reciept from the seller to prove to Adobe that their product was in fact original purchased from them. You have to be kidding???!!!?!?!It is unactivated so we aren't even talking about a liscence transfer this product is supposed to be registered to me. And that still doesn't answer the question of how the serial number is recognized by the software and installation (meaning the serial to DVD matches) and the customer service people claim it is not valid. I even asked them to tell me if it was a liscence used as a known pirated copy or something that should invalidate it, but all they can tell me is that it is not valid for the product. If that is the case why print it on the label and affix it to the software?On the other hand perhaps it is just a database error on their part. about the layer effects, specifically the shadows.
I have 2 layers:
1st layer has a 'Inner Shadow' at an angle of 150 degrees.
2nd layer.....I went to give it a 'Drop Shadow' of 100 degrees and notice that the 1st layer's angle has changed to '100' degrees from '150'.
Why is PhotoShop modifying the shadow effects of other layers when 1 in modified. Is this commom an how to disable it?
I know I could just create the layer in a new .psd, flatten and drag to the composition. But can't I just do it in the same .psd?
whenever i use layer styles on an object, and try to free transform it, it gets distorted everywhere...like vertical gradient lines. the edges also distort.
View 10 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to my own comic for my website, and i'm trying to create styles that will work on the shapes that i use for the caption boxes and speech bubbles. eg, for th e speech I create a shape, then add the styles Colour Fiill and each an 8 pixel stroke that forms the border of the shape. I click, "new Style" and it saves it happily.
the problem is....whenever i start up PShop again (using v6.0, BTW), the style is there, but the Stroke is 33 pixels. The colour fill is okay, but it wil NOT save the goddamned Stroke values - i've tried creating the new style, saving the styles then importing them and the same thing happens.
I'm making up album pages, with multiple pictures, each with a drop shadow/stroke round it. The photographs each have their own layer set, with adjustment layers correcting their individual colours - I don't want to merge the adjustment layers down until I'm ready to archive. I don't want to rasterize the layer styles yet either.
The problem I'm having is that the adjustment layers are affecting the layer styles - making the black line go a lighter grey etc. Is there a way round this? I'll merge the adjustment layers into the photographs if I have to, but is there a way of doing so while still leaving the layer style editable?
