Photoshop :: CS4 Extended Layer Styles Not Working
Jan 18, 2009
Running CS4 extended on Vista64, Corei7 quad @2.9 GHz, 8 Gig Ram and nVidia quadro FX 1700. I can not get layer styles to work in documents that originated in CS3 extended.
when trying to access/apply a layer style (like "stroke" or "bevel and emboss"), i get a "could not complete your request because of a program error." this just started.
I try to generate an action applying a filter to every layer for files with dozens of layers. To move through layers, one supposedly can use "select next layer" menu item. However, "select next layer" does not exist in SELECT menu, and keyboard shortcut option-+/- (also tried option-alt-+/-, option-numkeypad-+/-) does not work. It moves through the blending options in the layers palette, but does not go to the next/previous layer. Â How do I tell PS to move to the next layer without clicking on the specific layer? I.e., some sort of command that I can integrate into an action. Â how to I make select next layer available again in PS CS5? There are no hidden menu items, so no "show all menu items" at bottom of menu.
out of the blue, my layer styles have stopped working --- can't stroke, emboss, drop shadow anything. instead i get a "could not complete your request because of a program error" message. Â what's going on? Â i recently installed Alien Skin's Snap Art 3, but uninstalling the program has had no effect? Â (btw, running windows 7, CS6)
Within Photoshop(CS5extended) there's an option to view Styles I have some original Shapes I have created and also downloaded not too many but I would like to have them added to the window drop-down menu at top similar to styles. Is this even possible, for the life of me I can't find a way to do it
I'm trying to clip a layer onto another layer that contains styles. Whenever I do this though, the layer I'm clipping appears to disappear. My guess is that it's inheriting the styles from the layer it's being clipping onto, and so it's indistinguishable.
So my question is how can I clip onto a layer with styles, but not inherit? I can't seem to find any 'clipping layer properties' kind of thing, or anything that allows me to specify it
I was using my photoshop cs6 extended for about two months and it was working good,no problems. Then i stopped using it for about 3 months and today when i decided to use it again-it's stopped working. When i press on Photoshop.exe-nothing happens.Nothing at all,no errors, just nothing and photoshop won't open. All other .exe programs works good.
Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0.1 (13.0.1.2 20130522.r.24 2013/05/22:21:00:00) x64 Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit Version: 6.1 Service Pack 1 System architecture: AMD CPU Family:15, Model:1, Stepping:0 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2, SSE3

I have tried disabling the Catalyst A.I. and restaring PS. The video card is AMD Radeon (TM) HD 6620G. Nothing I do seems to work. I can see the 3D menu it's all grayed out and when in the 3D tab under layes, if I try to create a 3D object this is the message I get. "The 3D features require that "Use Graphics Process" is enabled in the Performace preferences. Your video card must meet the minimum requirements and you may need to check that your driver is working correctly.
I know Windows 7 is not officially supported, but that's the point of software testing - to find bugs.
OS: Windows 7 32bit, build 7057.
PS: CS4 Extended 32bit, ver. 11.0.1
GPU: disabled
Problem: Any operation from the "3D" menu results in Photoshop crashing. (Module was C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS4Plug-ins3D EnginesPhotoshop3DEngine.8BI)
I cannot get the clone tool to work on my Photoshop CS5 Extended v 12.0 x 32, which is running on my work Lenovo laptop. I am using the tool correctly, it just no longer replaces any pixels with the clone stamp.
I have PS CS6 Extended from the Creative Cloud and everything works great. However the draggable shadows in 3D do not show up at all.  If I render my image the shadows appear. but they do not show up as they do in what's new section of the photoshop page in [URL] Also If I turn on reflections, they show up just fine, but the shadows are still not there.  My computer is an HP with: Windows 7 home premium 64 bit Intel i7 2.8 GHz processor 8 GB RAM AMD Radeon HD 6570 graphics card with 1GB DDR3 dedicated memoryÂ
My computer has run Windows 7 ,Run Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended,I click "edit"-"Control of deformation",the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended Stop Working. Why?
I installed the CS3 Master Collection that included Photoshop CS3 Extended. I've used Photoshop for going on a decade and I find the ALT+CTRL+I keyboard shortcut really handy to pop open the Image Size window.
Now, in this new version (done after a clean format, reinstall of my XP OS) the shortcut no longer works. I check and it still has ALT+CTRL+I listed next to Image Size in the drop down menu as the proper keys, but it does not work.
I tried resetting the preferences but to no avail. I have also recently tried creating custom Keyboard Shortcuts and applying the "Working with Text.

ALT+CTRL+C seems to work fine for selecting the canvas, as does all my other other shortcuts (IE: CTRL+N for new canvas, CTRL+A to select, etc).
It seems the ALT+CTRL+I is the only thing giving me an issue.
whenever i use layer styles on an object, and try to free transform it, it gets distorted everywhere...like vertical gradient lines. the edges also distort.
i'm trying to my own comic for my website, and i'm trying to create styles that will work on the shapes that i use for the caption boxes and speech bubbles. eg, for th e speech I create a shape, then add the styles Colour Fiill and each an 8 pixel stroke that forms the border of the shape. I click, "new Style" and it saves it happily.
the problem is....whenever i start up PShop again (using v6.0, BTW), the style is there, but the Stroke is 33 pixels. The colour fill is okay, but it wil NOT save the goddamned Stroke values - i've tried creating the new style, saving the styles then importing them and the same thing happens.
I'm making up album pages, with multiple pictures, each with a drop shadow/stroke round it. The photographs each have their own layer set, with adjustment layers correcting their individual colours - I don't want to merge the adjustment layers down until I'm ready to archive. I don't want to rasterize the layer styles yet either.
The problem I'm having is that the adjustment layers are affecting the layer styles - making the black line go a lighter grey etc. Is there a way round this? I'll merge the adjustment layers into the photographs if I have to, but is there a way of doing so while still leaving the layer style editable?
I recently updated to Photoshop CS6.1 (or 13.1) from the Creative Cloud and my shadows stopped working again. The draggable shadows in 3D do not show up at all. If I render my image the shadows appear. Â Also If I turn on reflections, they show up just fine, but the shadows are still not there. My computer is an HP with: Â Windows 7 home premium 64 bit Intel i7 2.8 GHz processor 8 GB RAM AMD Radeon HD 6570 graphics card with 1GB DDR3 dedicated memory .if there is anything I can do to get these draggable shadows working again
I've tried importing spheres in both .obj and .3ds format,
Those odd stepped artifacts only disappear when "Single Light From Eye" is the light mode. They seem to appear regardless of whether the 3d file is saved with lighting information or not.
I'm importing the shapes using Layers - 3d Layers - New Layer From 3d File
I copied a layer style (Outer glow) and pasted it on another file, value of the size in Outer glow, changed when pasted from 6 to 64. Why? How do I make copying the layer style more accurate?
In the past I have received requests to make a reflection of a text or an image that has a layer style(s) on them (e.g. stroke, outer/inner glow, etc). The problem with this is, when I go in and make a reflection (I use the layer mask method), the styles are not reflected as they are supposed to.
When I create a shape I use the Shape from the drop down, create my shape and then using Layer Styles I create the look I want on the shape within CS6. When I have sent my file to another person who is using CS5 they cannot see my layer styles and they are lost... What is happening and how can I get them to see my layer styles? Â At the moment for them to see it I am having to recreate all my shapes so they are Pixel rather than shapes? why this is happening? I have never had this problem before and I have used Photoshop for years!
Could not add any Layer Styles. I also cannot add styles to any layer in this file. He says he started it in a Lab on campus. We use a deep freeze software and so the default preferences should be restored on the computers regularly. He thinks he has had this problem before and has worked on different computers. No one else has this problem. So, if that's true, all I can think is that he is "doing something" when he chooses File--New. I recently opened the projects from all of the other students in my office and this fellow's file is the only one I can't add styles to. It's something about the file itself. What is it?
