Photoshop :: Print Settings Not Being Retained?
Feb 7, 2013
I am using Photoshop CS5. When I go into print settings and change a setting and say OK, the setting is not being retained. When I go back into print settings, the settings I used a couple of weeks ago are displayed. Reseting defaults has no effect.if there is somewhere in Photoshop that I may have set a selection or a configuration that is keeping the most recent settings from being retained?

When working on an image in ACR, if you select one of the local adjustment tabs, such as Graduated Filter, and move any of the sliders on the right-hand side, any values you change will be retained if pressing 'Cancel', then opening the image again in ACR and selecting the same tab. I find this surprising, as I would have thought that by pressing 'Cancel', any adjusted settings, since opening the image on this occasion in ACR, would not be retained.
Furthermore, if you open another image in ACR and select the same local adjustment tab, the same settings that you adjusted in the other image have identical slider settings in that image as well.
I can see that this behaviour could be viewed as useful, i.e. when wanting to use the same local adjustment on multiple images, as any adjustment of the local adjustment's slider settings, on their own, will have no effect unless you actually perform the selected local adjustment to the image. But, as I say, I would have expected Photoshop to simply not retain any settings you have adjusted, since opening the image on this occasion in ACR, if you don't press 'Open Image' or 'Done', and simply press 'Cancel'.

Photoshop CS5 v12.1.
Mac OS 10.6.
I'm printing to an Epson R1800 printer.
Print. Choose Color Management. Choose Document. Choose "Photoshop manages color". Choose the correct printer profile that matches the paper I'm using. Choose Relative Colorimetric.
THEN, I click Print Settings...under the 4th drop downu I choose "Print setting..." again. Under "Basic" "color" and "Color settings" are grayed out as are some of the "Media Type" options.
Is this normal? The problem is my black and white prints are printing really badly. They have color tones. I've cleaned the nozzles on my Epson printer, done everything the print utility suggests. All the test prints look fine.

It seems that, no matter how many times i save and update the profile, all the print setting (image size, sharpening, bit depth, color management, ...) are store within the preset, all but the Epson Driver settings, which have to be selected every single time.
I really can't remember if this bug was present in 4.0 or not (I'm currently running 4.1 RC), but I'm quite sure it was working OK under 3.x. Here's the thing.
I configure the printing settings and create. a profile: Profile1.I change all the settings and create a second profile: Profile2. The "Print Settings" settings are different, same printer, one for Color (Profile1), one for Advanced B&W (Profile2).I click on Profile1 (which was created with color Print Settings). Clicking on "Print Settings" or "Print", the printer settings selected under the epson driver is the ABW one (the one that belongs to Profile2).I reselect the correct setting from "Print Settings..." (Color).Click "Save" again.Righ-t click on Profile1 -> Update with current Settings. Setting seems to be saved.I then click on Profile2 and bam! The "Print Settings..." seems to be rverted to color instead of ABW.Update the correct settings, back to point #3
Can you reproduce this? This behavior is vanishig the power of the "Print One" button, unless you constantly print with tha same Driver settings.

Recently after sharpening/editing a photo in the Develop module I returned to the Library module, only to see that the sharpening adjustements reversed. When I go back to view the image in "Develop" the sharpness returns. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. All of the other photos I've adjusted in Develop retain all changes when toggling back to Library. This is using LR3.6 for MAC.

I have started to have probelms with the printing pictures using the CS6 Print Settings box.
After I have selected all the appropriate Printer setups and set the Print size to 8.5x11 both in Printer Setting and in the CS6Scaled Print Size box I get the below Print Preview. Both when I manually enter Scale,H&W and when I check the "Scale to fit Media Box".
It leaves the top and bottom with a 1/2" white border at top/bottom.

Whenever I save a set of print settings for printing I can no longer access Print Settings again. This works but then the problem represents itself the next time I go to print. It is rather tedious to reset all my preferences every time I want to print a document.
Mac 10.6.8. I have the latest version of CS5 fully updated. Printing to an Epson 4800.

In order to get to the ABW printing mode, I need to have "Printer Manages Colors" selected for "Color Handeling". Then when I click on "Print Settings" I get the normal "Print" box that comes up where I have access to normal "Print Settings" options, one of which is "ABW" under "Print Mode".
And this has been working fine. Then all of a sudden today, when I enable "Printer Manages Colors" and I click "Print Settings" nothing happens. No new dialog box opens to the "Print" options as it usual does. Nothing pops up. If I switch color handling back to "Photoshop Manages Colors" and click on the "Print Settings" the box opens up as normal… but now of course the ABW option is greyed out.
I tried reinstalling the printer driver (Epson 3880)… but it's not related to the driver since it happens on multiple printers (HP & Epson). This is a problem within Photoshop. To make sure I'm not crazy, I tried it on another computer and it works as expected.
What could have caused this and how do I fix it?PS and OSX are on their current versions (12.0,.4 and 10.7.3 respectively)

I just added an Epson printer. When I'm in Photoshop (CS5) and click print>printsettings, to adjust the print size, nothing happens. The next window asking for print parameters never appears. I also have no "Page Setup" option under File.

I have created a surface and have exported it to LandXML for import into another software. After generation of the surface, I have cleaned up the surface triangles to eliminate triangulation outside of the area of interest. I have tried this both with deleting actual surface lines and by applying a boundary. After I edit the surface, I export it as a LandXML and bring it into my application where the surface still has the lines outside of the area of interest that I wanted deleted.
What I suspect is happening is that C3D is recording that the lines were deleted in the edits section of the surface, but that the actual lines are not deleted from the surface definition. My other software is not smart enough to figure this out from the LandXML file. Is it possible to finalize all the edits in C3D so that upon export my deleted lines do not transfer through?

I have an Epson 1400, and it was working fine this morning. I usually go to Print Settings to select my glossy paper. But just now, when I went to print, and tried to click the Print settings... button, nothing happens. I have tried using Software Update and installed the latest Epson Printer Software, and tested several other applications, and the printer is connected and working fine in those.

Is there a way to setup Photoshop CS6 print settings so that "Scale To Fit Media" is the default. I tried to create an action and then through Bridge select a folder and Batch send the files to Open-Print-Close. Since images are never received 8.5"x11" it would be convenient to have this as a default. Since the print settings revert, or aren't defaulting to "settings last used", my batch attempt was unsuccessful. I know I could edit my action to adjust image size to page dimensions, but thought a way to edit the Print settings default must be out there somewhere. (Using MacBook Pro OSX 10.8.4)

The soft-proof of an image in CS6 gives a very good rendering based on a given paper profile for my printer. However subsequently, with proper settings in the Print Settings dialogue box, the image represented often has colors that are far from the earlier soft-proof rendering and are thoroughly inaccurate.
The image prints correctly, having no resemblance to the image appearing in the dialogue box, but coming quite close to the soft-proof simulation. Is something amiss? On a system running Mac OS 10.8.

Color Management while Printing has been one of the challenging areas which has been discussed a lot over user forums and has been a painful area in terms of clear understanding while taking print outputs. Here is an easy-to-understand KB (Knowledge Base) article ‘Color management settings for the best print output’ to get the best from your printers using PSE and bridge that knowledge gap.
This article explains color management in Photoshop Elements, how to get better prints, and addresses some of the following issues like horizontal / vertical streaks in print output, too dark or too light print output, ICC profile problems and Color differences between prints from PSE and other applications.

I've looked through all the FAQs I can find, and I can see how to change the settings each time I print, but I'd like to make it so that it always prints the pictures several shades lighter. I also need to recalibrate the printer, but this has always been a problem. Is there a way to permanently set up a printing profile that will always automatically apply?
I'm using Lightroom 3.

Is there a way to control color print quality that matches the in-canvas look of a part or assembly.
As a quick example, I have a Kelly Green wire visible within an assembly. When I print the assembly within a .idw drawing file, the Kelly Green turns very dark.
Is it possible to specify a particular lighting setting to be used when printing? I'm expecting to see color print output that matches closely to what I see when viewing either a model or an assembly.
I'm using Inventor 2013.

In the Printer Settings drop down menu both Color Mode and Print Mode are grayed-out. This just happened I cannot think of anything I've done differently.
I'm using OS 10.6.8 and the latest Epson drivers for the 3880. I have re-installed both PS and the Epson drivers. If I print from Acrobat Reader everything seems to work fine, this only is happening in Photoshop CS5.

Is there a macro/script/deisel that will automatically print a pdf (cute pdf autocad lt 2007) to current plot settings in current drawing directory and give it the current drawing view name and number? Disk space not a problem these days and would save time to have a pdf copy of all drawing tabs readily stored in the directory ready for issue.

i recieved a prom pic from my daughter and i was going to print it and frame it, but 2 things happend.
The first one was that when i tried to print it it said it was tooooooo big 40inx60in so i resized it to 8.5x11 and it got very blurry, after about an hour i figured out how to get it sharp again (by accident) and forgot how i did it DOH!!! It was some kind of compairson with 4 of the same photo and resizeing the file from 9.5M to about 400kb and actualy adding some blur.
The next problem is when i printed it, it was so washed out it looked like an old 70's poloroid but on screen it looks great. Now I've read the color settings section but i think i might have set some settings wrong [U]and i don't think i fully understand what i'm reading . I know there are settings to either let photoshop take care of the printing or let the printer.Personaly i think i would like to let photoshop do it that way any email's or photo's i shoot will have a common baseline. The printer i'm using is an hp psc 2410 and the camera is a minolta dimage7i, is this a good camera / printer. I'm in adobe rgb(1998) mode and i think i saw somwhere in the printer software to choose between adobe rgb or the hp printer.Do these have to match.
Put simply how can i print it the way i see it on screen
I know ....long winded but i try to give all the info i can
software: adobe photoshop cs2
Card: nvidia geforce ti 4600
crt: compaq mv 940 17in regular screen 1024x768
Printer HP psc 2410
Camera: Minolta Dimage 7i
