Photoshop :: Migrate CS6 Actions / Fonts / Plugins From Windows To Mac?
Jul 15, 2013
I have been a long time Photoshop user and am now am moving CS6 extended (Windows version) from a PC to a Mac (CS6 Mac version) and need to migrate all of my fonts, actions, plugins and everything else from my pc to my Mac.
I have been provided a copy of CS6 for Mac by Adobe and basically need to move my entire CS6 configuration to the new platform.
I have been updting upgrading my Photoshop since the CS3 days so there is a lot of files, actions, and stuff that I do not want to loose when I move to my new platform.
I've been using Photoshop 6.0 for years and have many custom actions that I have created myself. I've now downloaded the trial for photoshop CS2. I want to use the actions I've created in version 6 in CS2. How do I migrate these old actions into CS2? What files do I copy to the CS2 folder from my version 6 folder?
I don't see any difference in the actions files (.atn files) listed in /presets/actions folders. File sizes are the same and I don't see any action group files with the names I saved them in. Where are my custom actions and how do I move these old ones into the new version? My actions were saved in a group called 'My Actions'. I see no .atn file with that name.
This is the only thing I need to figure out. Upgrading to CS2 is a no brainer -- it has many fixes that version 6 needed. But I don't want to recreate the old actions.
I just switched to Vista 64 on the weekend. I spent a day uploading my programs and figuring out how to kill that annoying UAC pop-up. I installed free Comodo firewall as well, so between newly installed Comodo and Vista's UAC, I was forever confirming and RE-confirming what I was doing. The Mac tv ad wasn't that far wrong - except for the fact the chubby PC guy can dismiss all the annoying UAC guys by disabling them.
I just downloaded a trial copy of CS4 to see how it runs with my 8 gbs of RAM. I was able to located and enter the Adobe Labs presets for my camera in to ACR. I still have XP and CS3 installed on another hard drive.
What is the easiest way to migrate my saved actions in CS3 to CS4?
I'd like to be able to construct some Actions which use third-party Plug-ins - Is it even generally possible ....? The simpler the construction scheme the better. I'm working with CS5.
Currently I am running PhotoShop extended CS5, 64bit. in which i have my fovorite plugins (Topaz, Nik and OneOne) running perfectly.
I have upgraded to Adobe Creative Cloud and installed PhotoShop extended CS6 using Adobe Application Manager as recommended. It didn't ask me if I wanted to upgrade or do a new install for PhotoShop. So now I CS6 running with no Plug-ins. I need my plugins! LOL.
I tried pointing to additional plugins in the CS6 preference to the CS5 plugin folder. Upon Launch it gave me a whole slew of error messages saying something cant load or launch C+ runtime error or what not. It does open up, but it only gives access to Nik and Topaz. OnOne doesn't show up under filters or extensions.
So, what are my options?
Just copy the plugins from CS5 to CS6?
I dont't want to reinstall all the plugins to CS6 if I don't have to as I've auto updated them over time to current versions online, so only have installation files for my original purchases.
I recently purchased an Imac 27" and am trying several different ways to migrat my 27,000 picture library:
I do a backup on an external NTFS drive. I doc to MAC. On the first attempt, I was able to locate the tly file, but the backup failed at 63% on soime mpeg conversion error. Since that time, the Mac can no longer any files in the backup folder (however if i connect to PC the files are all there) I originally migrated the folder structure and imported all the photos. It asked me if I wanted to import all tags and i said yes. However, it filed all my tags inder "Other imported tags" section, and losing all my original tagging structure. I am now tryiong to write tag information to the files and transfer via Migration assisttant, but am worried I will have the sma results as above.
I wish to use my personal actions from and plug-ins from my Windows 7 computer to my new Windows 8 computer.I have placed the plug-ins in the proper folder. Needs drivers or something else. I don't know where to find the Personal actions to copy them over.
I just "upgraded" from Photoshop CS6 to Photoshop CC.
How do I get all my apps, plug ins, actions, automate apps, brushes, etc. from Photoshop CS6 onto/into the proper folders in Photoshop CC so I can use them in CC?
It used to be that I very rarely used fonts within CS5 but recently I have. I realized that all of the fonts supposedly included with CS5 are not available via my drop down menu.
I then found these fonts in Windows/fonts so I copied all of those fonts into Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Fonts. These unavailble fonts are now listed in that folder but are still not available via the dropdown menu in PS CS5.
I've recently read that the fonts don't really even NEED to be in the Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Fonts folder and that PS should actually make all of the fonts in Windows/Fonts available via the dropdown menu. Yes, I have restarted PS after copying the files and also tried rebooting my PC after copying the files. The fonts are still not available via the drop down text menu within PS even though all of them are now in both locations.
I have put some new fonts into C:/windows/fonts and they have come up in other programs e.g. Microsoft office but they are not showing up in photoshop.
i am using vista home premium with SP1 and it is 32bit and photoshop cs4.
I made the upgrade to Windows 8 and now several PS plugins causes Photoshop CS6 to "Stop Working And need to close". I have uninstalled and reinstalled plugins and still the same problem. As this happens with different plugins from different vendors I am led to believe this is not a 3rd party problem, but rather a problem with PS in win8. Happens with plugins from Niksoft and RedGiant. Needless to say I have all the latest software and updates - legally purchased.
I recently got a new computer with Windows 8, and re-installed Photoshop 5.1, Photomatix Pro, and Nik Silver. But when I go into Photoshop, I can't see Photomatix or Nik Silver. I've moved both of them to the Plug-Ins folder and then rebooted, but it doesn't seem to work.
I have an action that works, has worked for a long time. For some reason without the action being changed, it now will not run after a break.
If I run the action and do a break before it is complete, I cannot run any actions again. This is true even if a close Photoshop and then reopen it. When I try to run the action I have to restart the computer, then the actions will run.
Trying to run the default vignette action, I get a message that "feathering is not currently available." I'm wondering why I'm getting the error message and how to fix it.
Just got a new computer running windows 8.1. Have installed actions many times before and they work great, but now when I install them it shows that its building content but the actions are not there.
I am trying to download logins. On some of them I get the pop up that says windows has stopped the download because of a potential threat. I am running vista. I went into the security suite, and basically turned off all security, as I am not connected to the internet at this moment. But I have the same issues. This does not happen on all of them though.
like the headline says, I'm looking for a way to change the direction to which the windows in photoshop pop up. To make this clearer, I have illustrated what I want to do
Is there an option in the preferences (if so i can not find it)? Or any other way to do this?
Just installed a new fonts Monotype Corsiva .ttf to my Win 7 X64 unfortunately when i opened my photoshop cs3 the fonts did not appear but when I open my word application it works smoothly.
I created some graphics with text using Arial Narrow Bold in PS CS before I reformatted the HD on the same machine with the same XP OS disk. When I reinstalled Arial Narrow didn't appear in the Fonts list but was in the Windows Fonts List and available to other Folders. I am running XP, not Vista.I have tried dragging Arial Narrow into Program FilesCommon FilesAdobeFonts etc to no avail. I have also tried removing and reinstalling the Arial Narrow fonts without success. I have not worked out how to edit the Adobe Fonts File to include Arial Narrow.I have reinstalled CS, trialled CS3, and even reinstalled an earlier version of PS 7 which used to support Arial Narrow as a dedicated font, but not any more.Granted, in PS CS3 you can select Arial, then select <Narrow> in the adjacent drop down menu, but you can't select Arial Narrow Bold which makes it impossible to edit or alter the text in the earlier graphic that I created, something that is essential for either letterheads or business cards. If anybody has a fix on how to be able to create / edit / alter Arial Narrow Bold in either PS CS or PS7 I would be very grateful.
I was wondering (I know it sounds counter intuitive) if its possible to get mac fonts to appear in windows gimp. I'm trying to redo images using gimp on a windows computer that come from .psd files created with a mac. The fonts (though Tahoma in both) don't look remotely similar because mac fonts are different from windows fonts apparently. Is there some sort of workaround I can use in gimp to make them look more similar? The mac font looks so much smoother and "full-er".....I wish i could say the same about the windows one. And yes, I am using the same size, color, and font in both images.
I've noticed that I can download open type fonts on my computer (OS Windows 7) but if I type them out in my Corel X3, nothing shows up. Even files that I open up in Corel that have open type fonts in them, no text shows.
There were some patches available at one time but I'm not able to find them anymore. I have recently installed X3 on a W7 machine and have so far found everything to work fine except for an issue of half of my fonts being blank when trying to choose one from the drop down menu. Existing files with these blank fonts also come up with the fonts completely missing as if the entire set of words was deleted. Here is the list of patches that I've heard is necessary for X3 to be compatible with W7...
Below is a message from an older post:
I too have CorelDraw X3 on a Windows 7 machine, in order to get the best from it you will need to visit Corel's website [URL] and install the following patches Service Packs and patches in this order, re-start after each:1. CGSX3 Hot Patch1.exe2. CGSX3SP1.msp3. CGSX3SP2.msp4. Font Nav Fix.msp .. which will fix the problem with the Fontsand then run the program in Compatibility Mode with Windows XP+SP2
I have installed some new fonts in my windows font folder, but they are not showing up in illustrator. I am using a cloud version of illustrator and have tried closing and restarting to no avail.
I am facing this problem that when i give plot command and preview the window it show fonts different other than my main window. Also it prints as per the preview window and not as per the fonts present in my AutoCAD model space and layout.
I got calls from 3 of the DRAW users that some of the fonts are not displaying correctly since they have updated their Windows today. I have not yet connected my laptop to internet. Shall check it and try to identify the culprit update.Few fonts known for not displaying correctly since today.
After a likely upgrade to windows update opentype fonts are no longer 'displayed in coreldraw X3 X4 X5 X6 on any computer. it was necessary to restore the computer to the previous date, coreldraw uninstall and disable automatic updates. The problem is only on Coreldraw. In word and photoshop fonts were displayed correctly. The problem is serious because many studies have Opentype fonts and files appear blank. This update from window I will not have 'never install it?
