Photoshop Elements :: Can't Migrate Windows 11 Backup To IMac
Mar 25, 2013
I recently purchased an Imac 27" and am trying several different ways to migrat my 27,000 picture library:
I do a backup on an external NTFS drive. I doc to MAC. On the first attempt, I was able to locate the tly file, but the backup failed at 63% on soime mpeg conversion error. Since that time, the Mac can no longer any files in the backup folder (however if i connect to PC the files are all there) I originally migrated the folder structure and imported all the photos. It asked me if I wanted to import all tags and i said yes. However, it filed all my tags inder "Other imported tags" section, and losing all my original tagging structure. I am now tryiong to write tag information to the files and transfer via Migration assisttant, but am worried I will have the sma results as above.
When i back-up the catalogue, i assumed the backup would be mede of al the tags added to photo's. When i check the catalogue-files, i see a whole lot of jpg-files. My actual photo-collection contains jpg-, raw an avi-files.
I have a habit of making a copy of all my photofiles, but now it seems double
Question: Does de backup-function of photoshop elements 11 actually make a backup of tags and photo's?
I have been a long time Photoshop user and am now am moving CS6 extended (Windows version) from a PC to a Mac (CS6 Mac version) and need to migrate all of my fonts, actions, plugins and everything else from my pc to my Mac.
I have been provided a copy of CS6 for Mac by Adobe and basically need to move my entire CS6 configuration to the new platform.
I have been updting upgrading my Photoshop since the CS3 days so there is a lot of files, actions, and stuff that I do not want to loose when I move to my new platform.
I have been using Photoshop for a long time. And I am running PS6 on my Macbook Pro and 27"iMac.I am currently having a situation where Photoshop appears on my desktop and when I try to scroll to a different desktop view, PS screen view still populates it. That only happens on my iMac...not the laptop.I can't seem to find any preference to adjust.
Can I / How do I: Export a LR3 catalog from a windows 7 computer to a new iMac running LR5.Must retain the original file structure and all non-destructive edits and keywords.?
I want to move all of my photos to PSE11 as I am shooting in raw and it is much easier to organize and edit in one software. What will be the best way to migrate the pictures as I have all of my photos organized by event in iPhoto? I do not have to keep them in events in PSE11 if there is an easier way to migrate them.
I have bought a new PC. On my old PC I have PSE 10 with three catalogs. To move these catalogs (with several thousands of photos), I have followed the instructions in the help page: [URL] ......
So, I made backups of all three catalogs to an external disc. I then connected the external disc to the new PC and started to restore the first catalog. That went fine.
Then I restored the second catalog. That also went fine. But then I discovered that the first catalog had disappeared.... I expected that in the menu where you can switch catalog, both catalogs would be shown. But it only showed the last catalog that I restored.
To make sure, I tried to restore the first catalog again. Again that went fine. But now only this catalog is there, and the other one is disappeared again.
How do you migrate MULTIPLE catalogs from one PC to another PC?
I do not know whether it is relevant: The old PC is running Windows 7, the new PC is running Windows 8.1.
I have Adobe Photoshop Element 12 installed on my new computer (Windows 8) but how do I import the album structure organizing my 4,000 photos in Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 from my old computer (Windows XP)?
I have used Elements 11 for cataloguing a lot of photos but I want to use Photoshop CS4 for other purposes. The tags and keywords I created in Elements disappear in PS. How can I migrate them? Does CS4 have a similar cataloguing ability?
Ever since I switched to LR5, I've been getting a Windows error being logged at random when I shut down and optimise/backup the catalogue. This isn't happening everytime, but it is happening quite reguarly - maybe 50% of the time. I don't notice anything untoward, and the backup all seems to be working as expected, but right before LR closes (in the last few seconds of the backup and optimisation process), Windows records that LR "stopped working" and gives me a 1000 Event ID error (seems to be a pretty generic code for any application failure). Event Viewer is implicating gdiplus.dll as being the cause of the error. Didn't ever get this in LR4.
As I say, it doesn't actually seem to be causing any problem as such: LR is working fine and I wouldn't even know about this if I didn't keep an eye on things in Event Viewer/Reliability Monitor in Windows 7, so it's not a major issue. It is however annoying, and I hate to leave error messages like this unresolved. I've tried re-setting preferences, rebuilding all previews, clearing raw cache - no change. I'm wondering if the .dll file mentioned above might be corrupt - or if it's a bug.
Maybe fellow Win7 LR users could check in their Reliability Monitor to see if it's been recording any errors (just type in "relia" into the Windows search box and you'll find it for those who don't know about this feature).
I am moving Elements 9 from PC to iMac. My PC crashed but I have a copy of it's "C" drive on an external disc. How can I now get the catalog (24,000 tagged photdos) properly transferred?
I am migrating to a new computer (iMac). how do I do this without losing the captions and other information, as well as albums I have created? I already did the migration of the photos to the iMac. I do not know how to setup the PSE10 library on the iMac (already installed). should i use iPhoto?
Also, I have a large number of photos and considering whether I should have 1 catalog or multiple? I organize my photos by trip or year depending... each folder can have over 1000 photos in it. I experienced very sluggish performance on the PC and I only had a couple of folders...
I just tried and failed to install Photoshop Elements 11 onto my new IMAC, citing "Minimym Requirements were not met". However, it did not specify what exactly was the problem. How can I find out?
I have an iMac which had 4 gb of ram. Photoshop defaulted the usage to just under 3 gb. I installed another 8 gb of ram but PSE fails to recognise the extra ram so I can only get it to use 3gb. If I reinstall will it recognise all my ram? Will I still have all my photos on the organizer?
I have been using PSE 6 happily on my iMac under OS 10.6.8. Now it won't open fully. I get a blank opening screen and functionality. Tried deleting and copying my programme from backup but same result. The installer only works once. What can I do.
After upgrading my operating system I cannot use Photoshop Elements 10. The pinwheel just spins and spins and I have to force quit to get out of the program. I uninstalled my first copy and reinstalled and same problem.
I built op my catalog, creating events, tagging people etc. Now I would like my girlfriend to also use this catalog. (I can build up a new catalog but then I lose all the events, tags etc).
I put the pictures and catalog in a shared directory but I can't find a way to make Photoshop use my catalog when I go to my girls friend's account. How can I do this?
Have been using PSE 10 on a four year old Macbook pro with no problems. Opens RAW file with no problem. Just installed the same PSE 10 on a new iMac, and PSE 10 editor says it can't open file because it doesn't recognize the file.
Having recentl changed from Windows PC to iMac, and thus purchased Photoshop Elements 10, I now find that I cannot make a slideshow because there is no "Create Slideshow button" as shown on tutorials. Is this because it is an iMac? or am I missing something. Already having trouble getting JPG photos from Organiser into PSE 10.
