I'm trying to make this one effect on rasterized text. The effect works best on a black background, but the background and text have to be merged or it looks wrong. The thing is, is that I want the effect of the text seperate so that it's got a transparent background. What I was wondering is if there was some way to make 2 layers act as if they are 1, without them being merged.
View 2 RepliesI'm using CS6 and noticed that whenever I delete a layer that was a dupe of another layer with links (although not linked specifically to the deleted layer), the undeleted original layers become invisible on the canvas even though they are still visible in the layers pallette. I've been able to recreate this several times. Nothing I do will make the layers visible -I've tried moving them all to the top of the layers palette, making sure their opacity is 100%, making sure there are no layer effects, etc.

It doesn't grey when I open a video file. I'm tried using JPEG and GIF files as the layers, but am unsure what I'm to do at this point.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm making ID badges. I have made a template for the artwork and then added each photo individually to a box sized area. The images are already cropped to squares, but I had to resize each one to fit in the box. Then I have to make each one visible in order to save all of the images of the IDs.
I'd like to be able to add a group of images (all square) as layers to a pre-defined area and have photoshop resize each accordingly. It would be great if I could batch save the images, too and not have to hide each successive image.
Basically I have about 15 layers of images that I have to resize so they are all the same dimentions, without loosing quality, but if there are no options, I'm willing to losse quality.

If I make a change, like Invert of a filter, it doesn't apply to all open underlying layers no matter if they are Linked, Grouped or anything else I can figure out. Adjustment Layers do apply to all below, but not other kinds of changes/filters.
I have a collection of vector images that I use when creating logos. However, there are invisible layers because there are so many layers. How do make these layers visible? I know in Fireworks that there was just a box that you clicked saying "show invisible layers."

clicking on the mask icon gives the prohibitory sign.
Frame animation plays fine when played from timeline but all layers are exported stacked on top of each other for the duration of the whole animation. I'm able to see that because the layers have transparency.
About animation - 8 frames with in endless loop, imported into a timeline via 'Make Frames from Layers' command in a fly-out menu in the Timeliine window. Tweens for animation are off, 01.sec delay for all frames
I was able to export animated GIF before, wondering if this issue is tied to the latest update.

I'm trying to create a lower thirds that will include some motion, otherwise I might try Photoshop for this. But basically, I'm trying to create a gradient using ramp in AE so that the lower thrids I've created fades away on the sides. Similar to the image I've attached. I don't know how to make the layer that I put the ramp effect on affect the other layers.

I was watching one of the tutorials by Scott Georgeson on lynda.com on Corel X6. It was on the polygon tool where he was making a polygon and adding different colored duplicate layers on top to make it multicolored. He said to hold the plus+ key and then grab handle to shrink one of the layers down to show some of the underlying layer. When I try this the layers aren't isolated and the whole thing moves. I saw a check box in the settings to edit layers separately but didn't work.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a logo consisting of a bunch of simple shapes which are all individual layers. All of these layers are on top of a transparent canvas. I'm not sure if canvas is the right word, but basically what I mean is that I launched GIMP and made a new image that's 512x512 filled with transparency, and by default that became a layer titled background which I consider to be the canvas of my entire Image.
I can't seem to draw on new layers anymore. I've been trying to make new layers filled with transparency and draw on them with the free select tool, ensuring that the opacity is not 0 and that the layer is selected, but its drawing on the background layer rather than the layer I made to draw on. So now when I try to adjust the position of the layer, the shape I drew stays in the same spot because its not part of the layer.
When I have an PSD icon set and I want to size a layer to a size that looks good. How do I see the dimentions of that layer so that I can select another layer and make it the same size.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a logo that I am working with and I need to make it a 3D object for what I'm doing in After Effects. I am trying to make it 3D so I can edit it in repousse because all I really need to do is extrude it.
I've tried the different options in the 3D drop down menu but none of them bring me to edit in repousse.
Also, I know that I can make it 3D in After Effects my making multiples of it and what not but I don't want to go about it that way. Also, I'm working with CS5.5 and the 3D renderer plugin in After Effects is only available in CS6.
Im using Autocad Structural Detailing 2013. Its is possible to make specific command to start at specific layers?
EX: Breakline ,by default start at "LAYER 88".
Polyline ,by default start at "LAYER 150".
I often will copy a layer in the layers palette via option drag. If the original layer is linked to another, the new layer is also linked to the orginal layer I copied as well as any other layers that original was linked to.
Is there anyway to option drag to copy a layer in the layers palette without the new layer being linked?
