Photoshop :: How To Stop Having Images Open In Tabs
Oct 3, 2012
I am using PS 5. when I have an image open and then open a new image, it appears as a tab in the same space as the first image, is there something in preferences that would let me open new images so they don't open in a tab?
When I am working with various pictures in PS, I have like 10 open and every time I go out of photoshop and come back, they have all closed down to the docking window. I have to re-open them again from there, I want to STOP THEM from closing when I go to desktop or somewhere else. I want them to stay afloat. I know I can click Ctrl + mouse and "restore all windows" but that is also a nuisance because it resized my PS window and I have to push up teh layers palette again.
When the "Open Documents as Tabs" checkbox is UNCHECKED, opening multiple documents via File > Open will open them as intended: stacking them on top of each other. However, dragging multiple documents onto the PS tab in the taskbar, or dragging them directly onto PS application surface will NOT have this effect and will open the documents in tabbed mode regardless of the prefs settings. THIS IS !%$@#$ ANNOYING!!! I hope adobe considers fixing this without making me pay a gazillion bucks for another update for a bug fix.
I have an old mac computer that I use for display for clients that has cs3 but when I opened photoshop the images are not displayed in tabs. I have been to Windows>arrange but the only options I have are
cascade tile horizontal tile vertical  the preferences panel does not have interface>open documents in tabs  and I cant remember where else to look. Hope some-one can remember this far back.
I always used to have my images opened as 'floating' documents. Since I'm using CS4, PS always opens new images 'tabbed', and I have to drag them out of there manually to get a floating window. Is there a way to prevent this? I noticed the 'Open Document as Tabs' setting in the Interface Preferences, but that doesn't seem to do the trick (either enabled or disabled, PS keeps doing it).
I have updated my windows version of PE 9 to 9.03. However, when I want to move a selection from one pic to another, I need to open both, then go to Window-images-float all in window, and check that option. However, even after updating, the first 5 options in window-images are greyed out. How can I get them active?
In previous PS versions I could see my open files as thumbnails at the bottom of my workspace instead of tabs at the top. I would love to keep using that workflow- can this be selected somehow?
I've just bought CS6 (yesterday); everything works fine until I click to open liquify, when I get a message saying that CS6 'is not responding', and it immediately closes down.
When opening several images in photoshop CS4 I would the images to float on screen, that is to say not to place the images stacked. I currently have to go to window in the menu and select float all in window every time. Can a default be selected that opens them and displays them floating.
For no reason that I can think of, When I click on a single image in Bridge to preview or to try and select multiple images to load as layers or merge to HDR, the first image clicked opens in ACR. How can i Stop this?
When I open The Lightroom, I do see the Tabs such as: Library Develop and other Tabs on the Top of page.
When I click on Import and I choose a folder I do see all the pictures of that folder in the middle of the page,,But The Tabs such as Library ,Develop, and other Tabs disappear. I am watching a Video Tutorial and IÂ think I am doing some thing wrong.
I have a lisp that i use on occasion so i loaded it with APPLOAD into the startup suite. now it loads and runs every time i open a drawing. how can i stop it from running...but still have it available when i need it (without having to find it and reload it)?
Having some trouble with the oppacity on my projects. As you can see from the screenshot, I've clearly clicked something because any text or images that I try to add to my project and set the oppacity at 0% - to then build over a few seconds to 100%, will not do this.Yet previous elements that I've added will. Â Is there something I need to click to stop the new text and images from changing oppacity immediately. I want them to build over time - I can see that the added keyframe looks different also.
When I open an image it opens in raw first. why? when I need to open an image template say from WHCC it won't show the lines (I'm guessing because of the RAW thing).
I'm using CS5.1-- just installed it. I go to File-->Open--> the image, and no window opens. Â It seems the window is hidden because I see an icon in the layers pallet and the icon says it's visible... I can't click anywhere because there is no window to click in "Fit on Screen"Â doesn't do anything..
We just purchased an Acer laptop computer, picked it up yesterday. Hubby is going to use this strictly for working on his pictures when out of town. He didn't even plan to hook it up to the internet. It has Windows Vista Home Premium, 2G of RAM, 120G of hard drive and a CD/DVD player/recorder. I installed Photoshop CS2, Nik Sharpener, Neatimage noise remover and Huey Pro Calibrater onto the computer last night.
When I opened Photoshop & Bridge, opened a DVD of some RAW images, Bridge would not show the thumbnails and I couldn't open any in Photoshop. In Bridge all that showed was a light blue box with CR2 over it and the file name below for each image. When I tried to open one I got a "Can not complete process due to a program error" message. I did open a jpeg image into Photoshop from the ones included in my documents and had no trouble with that. I didn't acutally try to do anything with it so I'm not sure that any of the options in Photoshop actually work, although they were all active with the jpeg image.
I saw a preference somewhere in PS that told photoshop to open all images at 16.7%. You may be wondering why on earth I would want such an option, but it would come in handy sometimes when opening multiple images of the same size when there is a mix of verticals and horizontals. This way the horizontals would not completely fill the screen, making it easier to navigate through the open images when they are stacked on the screen.
I like to compare and see what images I've worked on and would like to have them all open at one time. In CS4 you could have up to 15 open and reduced so you could compare them at once and quickly move from one to the other. Is this possible in CS6?
How can I show two images open in Photoshop CS6 - next to each other?  Going through the screen modes by pressing F like in Photoshop CS5 doesn't get me there. That screen mode with the floating windows seems to be missing. I need it for comparisons and for dragging layers between the two images.  Is the floating window screen mode achievable in CS6 or how else can I put two opened images next to each other on Photoshop's workspace?
I have installed and updated both PhotoshopCC and BridgeCC.
I can display the images in Bridge. However, whenever I double-click on them I get the following error message' "Windows cannot find C:ProgramfilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS6 (64 bit). Make sure you typed the name correctly and the try again."Â I can open the files from PhotoshopCC without going to Bridge.
What can I do? This may be related to the above problem: PhotoshopCC does not seem to set the file associations.
what im trying to do is open multiple images in Photoshop cs3 and then blend the images together. But the problem that i am facing is that i can only open one image at a time.
I have been away for a few months and now, when I go to open a RAW image in CS6, it tries to default to Photoshop, then opens in Camera RAW. This is something new. How do I get RAW images to open automatically in ACR (Adobe Camera Raw)? They did before (two months ago). They do not now. I can, of course, right click and go to the dropdown menu and tell it to open in RAW but that is an extra, unnecessary step. There's a saying..."It's not a bug, it's a feature." No, this seems to be a bug. What happened?
I recently purchased an Olympus EM1 digital camera. I have PSCS5: however I cannot open my camera raw imagesin PSCS5. Photoshop updated the camera raw to 6.1.
I understand I need version camera raw plug in 8.3 to be compatible with my Olympus EM1.what steps to take to make the program and the camera raw plug in compatible?
