Photoshop :: How To Change Arrowheads On A Line To Different Shape
Sep 2, 2012
I spend a great deal of time drawing arrows and labels in Photoshop. However, for space consideration, I would like to try changing my arrowheads to simple solid circles. Despite untold hours of searching, though, I cannot find a way to do this.
I am currently using CS6.

Yes, I know where the options to select the arrowheads are (ex: start/end, concavity...etc). But when I create my line, none of the arrowheads are displayed. Not sure what the problem is? Is there an option I may have inadvertently selected which may have turned these off? I am using in Windows Photoshop 5.5. I've used them on this desktop before, again - not sure what's going on here.
Also, is there an option to add arrowheads automagically to the Pen tool in photoshop?

I'm trying to create a rectangle with a red border and no inside fill. It's only to highlight some text of a bank form.
I know i have to right click the layer and choose blending options and stroke. But I've tried to change the color so many times and no matter what I do, the outer line remains gray and with rounded corners.
I want the corners of the rectangle to be squared, not rounded but I'm having a hard time changing this.
I'm using Photoshop CS3
show a picture of where to change the color of the outer line? I've tried everything.

I am using CS2.
I have a line drawing of a simple object that I would like to convert into a shape.
I have figured out how to cut the shape itself out of the original image using the magic wand select tool thing and altering the tolerance. So I have the cut-out shape on a transparent layer in a .psd file. All well and good.
I looked up "shapes" in the help center, and it says this:
"To convert type to shapes
When you convert type to shapes, the type layer is replaced by a layer with a vector mask. You can edit the vector mask and apply styles to the layer; however, you cannot edit characters in the layer as text."
It continues:
"Select a type layer, and choose Layer > Type > Convert To Shape".
Everything was going swimmingly untill that point - I go to the Layer menu - but "Type" is greyed out and therefore inaccessible.
I then did a search for "type layer" to find out what a type layer was - it says:
"About type layers:
After you create a type layer ...
tell me what a type layer is (I figure it has something to do with font, but I don't see how this relates to my line drawing), how to create one, or how to get my drawing into a type layer so I can convert it to a shape!

My issue is we have a series of drawings with drill hole layouts, that are suppose to be imported into Vulcan. Tried various DWG/DXF options to export. All the lines, text, co-ordinates come in perfect except these arrowheads. They are important as it explains which way a drill hole was made.
When you click on a supposed arrow in Vulcan, it's only a line. Well you can distinguish what is suppose to be the leader, and what is the arrow head. Only there is no arrowhead, just a short line.Basically does autocad store arrowheads in a way only it can easily understand?
"If you import a DXF or DWG file that contains a large number of blocks (more than 200), you are prompted to enable the Explode Blocks option. Explode the blocks to improve import performance."

I would like to add the effect of hand stitched thread around some of my designs. The line tool can change a line to dashes but this is a bit too uniform for hand stitching. I have seen a tutorial on doing this in Photoshop where a brush is made with a few small different length strokes. this is then spaced out and made to follow a path. how to create a hand stitch effect using X5 that looks like natural hand stitching...

I have a problem with a recently downloaded version of Inventor. When I start a new drawing all I get is a blank blue screen instead of one with a grid display. If I start a line I can see the cursor change to draw the line but a line does not appear. I don't know if it something with how I installed the program or just system settings.

I can't seem to master this, it's simple in Indesign, but in Photoshop when I draw a line shape, and then go to stroke / drop shadow it in the layers blending options, it strokes a long rectangle, not a line. I'm doing this to mark off a road path on a map.

a few of my various custom lines and shapes in the Tools Presets saved in CS4 and loaded in CS6 do not transfer with the correct Fill and Stroke they had in CS4. Examples are simple things like a red hollow ellipse, a red arrow, etc.

I have some irregular shapes pure black on white background. I want to be able to make an outline with a fixed pixel size- quite small - less than 20 pixels around the inside edge as though I had taken a brush and carefully run it around the edge- it need to be more precise that what I can do by hand
I'm not suer yet whether the inside of the line should b hard or soft edge when it touches the colour, the outside edge can overlap the shape as it will be masked out- to leave a hard outside edge

I'm writing function for user to offset dimension. After enter command, he select dimension and select point near one of dimension's arrowheads. Then I'm calculating new XLinePoint1 or XLinePoint2 and replacing original.
I have everything done. I thought ... The problem is when user firstly create AlignedDimension and after that he create RotatedDimension by using continous function. After that XLinePoint1 and XLinePoint2 are not parallel to the DimLinePoint (look at image).
How can I get coordinates of points selected in red rectangles?
I know that one is specified as "dimension line defining point" but what about second? How can I get its coordinates? Or maybe there is other way to get this point?

I'm trying to find the best solution in Illustrator 5.5 to reproduce the attached picture below. I keep focus on the arrows only and I want to keep the controllability (number of arrows for instance) as long as possible. What I did is as follows and is quite limited:
1 - I create a stroke with no arrowhead
2 - I multiply it and translate it along x by using the transform effect (Effect, Distort and Transform, Transform...)
3 - I use the Free Transform tool to adapt the length of each stroke
4 - I then expand the appearance of the objects and add an arrowhead to every stroke.
I'd like to have the arrowheads created in step 1 and I would like to keep control of the transform effect until the end.

I seem to be having trouble changing the lineweight of my profile line. I have changed the line weight in the layer properties, in the Profile properties and tried changed the line weight in the pen style. Everywhere I could think I try to make the line thicker but when I plot, the line is still the same and difficult to distinguish from the grid blocks of the profile view.

I must be missing something fundamental when trying to change a line from a solid line to a hidden or dashed line in Autocad 2000. I use the ltype command then load either Hidden, or dashed ISO,or both, and invariably the scale is way off in that I always end up with a still solid line, after using modify properties. After all that, every line I draw after that comes out dashed. Maybe I should fool with the layers? Is there a basic procedure I should follow here?

I've seen umpteen explanations of how to change lineweights in Revit.None of them address this simple thing I'm trying to do.
I just want to:
1. Create a few lilnestyles that appear along side the other line styles - for instance:
Thin Line, Medium Line, Thick Line, <<Really Thick Line, >> <<Absurdly Thick Line,>> etc, etc..
2. Draw a line
3. Click on the line
4. Select from a drop down list, "Absurdly Thick Line" and have it instantly inherit the linestyle I created.
The only way I can do this is to create a family, make a new subcategory of Detail Items, create the characteristics I want in the line, export it as a .dwg file, then import it into Revit - and then I see the new line style along side the other line styles, and I can then select any line and make it the new line style.
Certainly, there is an easy to find, simple, straightforward way to add line styles to the existing group - and have those new line styles become immediately accessible from the "Modify Lines" Linestyle Drop down Menu.

I have many Corel Designer 9 files that use user defined arrowheads.
When I open these files in Designer 12. Every arrowhead is off by 1/4" inch, they are not touching what they need to be touching, as they are in the Designer 9 file.
I have removed the arrowhead in the Des. 9 file and just used a line that is touching the object, saved...Open in Des. 12 and it is still touching the object. So, it's something with the arrowhead.

I created a pattern in Photoshop CS6 for a project with shape lines which reside on shape layers. I want to change the line weight but after I create them it seems there is no way of changing the shape; even after I select line.
I can change the spread (uniform distribution) of the lines and lengh but not their weight. No matter if I choose all or just one of the lines which are all on the same shape layer the weight does not change. This does not make sense. [URL]....

Don't use it often but when you need it you need it. Problem is for some reason I can no longer change the shape or size. Just get a square block about a 1 x 1 pixel and I'm stuck with it. Go into brushes or where ever and everything is greyed out.

I have been fortunate enough to have been given access to use a plasma cutter at a local community college, of which I am employed. It is a new Torchmate system (4'x8'), The design computer is loaded with Torchmate 5 CAD. I wanted the ability to design at home and then import the .DXF file into the torchmate to burn my designs. I have loaded Autocad 2012 and only work in the 2d mode, which leads me to my question.
If I draw straight line and want to modify the line in Torchmate CAD/CAM I can edit the nodes and pull the line into whatever shape I would like.
Can this be accomplished with Autocad as straightforward as this? If so can you explain how I would do this? I have played around with this for a few hours but the closest I can get is using a the Polyline tool, but I am not able to add or delete nodes that allow me to customize my line.
