View 19 RepliesSo i hit the little "T" text tool, and i get the generic Windows 7 "This program has encountered a program and needs to close" error. I click out of the error box, and all my work disappears as well as any changed preferences and recently opened files. The same happens when i try to use Image> Adjustments>HDR Toning. Yay. And what's funny is BOTH errors display a fault module of "CoolType.dll."

I have tried EVERYTHING that everyone has posted about on every computer-related forum that i could find. NOTHING has worked at all. I deleted every single font minus the system fonts, including anything mentioning them in the system registry. Tried new copy of the dll file, nothing. Reset Photoshop preferences, nothing. System restore failed. Uninstall/reinstall of entire Adobe Master Collection failed.

Oh, and in the 32-bit version, HDR Toning works but the text tool gives me an error message that "something prevented the text engine from being initialized." And, well, i just don't want to use the 32-bit version.
I am trying to learn what can be done using HDR Toning in Photoshop CS5. At first I was impressed by its capabilities. I was working on a photograph of a train in a wooded valley in eary spring (before most leaves were out), with bright sunlight coming from almost straight overhead. So, the top of the train and the ballast in front of the train are very bright, the woods to the sides were shadowed, and the sides and nose of the train were in deep shadow. HDR Toning seemed to be giving me very nice control over adjusting the various tones. But when I closed the HDR Toning window, PhotoShop thought for a couple of seconds, and then changed my image, making it much darker than it was when the window was open!Â

What's going on here? Is this expected behavior? How can I get HDR Toning to keep my photograph from changing after I close the window?
I have a question about using toning curves...
In older versions of Photoshop, I was able to use Paul Butzi's beautiful toning curves (which are ACV files) through the Curves menu.
There was a 'Load' button, and if I pressed that, I could browse my curves folder and pick whatever curve I wanted. Is there any way to do that in Photoshop CS5? I can't seem to find a 'Load' button under Curves, and I'm not sure how to use the Custom Curve feature.
I can't seem to load them under Filters, either. How I could load them?
how to get the blue tone like in this picture, while maintaining the true whites and blacks?

I have one scene that looks unbelievable with the "surrealistic" HDR toning preset. However, I record my action and set up the folders and set it to go, but it seems to want me to click "ok" after filtering each photo...there's 1685 of them, so not very keen on that.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a set of images in 32 bit .hdr format, which I would like to turn into 8 bit png files. Specifically, they are 6 sides of a cubemap, which join together seamlessly, and still need to do so after the conversion.
I've played around with the options in the HDR toning dialogue and have a setup I really like the look of, based around the 'local adaptation' method. The trouble is, if I apply those settings to each of the 6 images individually, they are no longer seamless (some have higher/lower contrast and brightness etc), presumably because these settings are 'relative to' the image being processed.
how can I apply the same kind of operations to each of these images (so they remain seamless), mimicking what the 'local adaptation' method is doing?
The specific settings I have changed in the dialogue are the edge glow radius and strength, the 'detail', and the colour vibrance and saturation.
I used CS2 for a while as my son had it for his business needs. In it PS had presets for selenium tones and there was one that used a purple in the quad set and after some minor tweaking by me really had that selenium tone to it. The purple made the blacks very dense and the mid tones very rich looking.
I don't have the combination of the quad set I was using but is it possible to use a similar set with PSP X2? They used curves to adjust each color separately so the person using the quad could adjust it to their own tastes. I used to have the purple very subtle, at least to my eyes, which left the image very rich looking.
Photoshop keeps crashing every time I convert a 32 bit image to 8bit. I am using Photoshop CS6 v13.0.4 x64 on MAC OS X 10.6.8. I goto Image>Mode>8bits/Channel.When the Merge HDR images Dialogue Box comes up I click "Merge".

At the following window about HDR Toning it immediately crashes. (immediately as in, a second after I took this screen capture) When i click "Don't Merge" it works fine, so it has something to do with the HDR Toning editing capabilities.

I have had problems before with CS6 working with 32 bit images on my Mac. It would render black within my selection. However it worked fine on Windows. In addition some who relied who also used MAC OS X 10.6.8 did it an it worked fine, however, he was using Photoshop CS6 v13.0.1 x64, while I am using v13.0.4 x64. So I think something broke in the later updates for PS CS6 for MAC. If I were to re-install Photoshop would that revert it to v13.0.1?

I just installed my CS4 Creative Suite and Photoshop immediately crashes upon making a second layer. Adobe tells me that my computer is not compatible with this version of Photshop and I have to upgrade if I want to use Photoshop. I haven't even checked if the rest of the suite is compatible, but I assume it is not. I did try to update the Adobe Updater. It says "A new version of the Adobe Update is available for intstallation. Click OK to install it now. Note: You may be required to authenticat in order to install.Â

I have CS4 on my mac OS X 10.8.3. Photoshop CS4 is crashing all the time.I update it regularly.It used to crash using layers, so i changed the graphic settings as suggested in this forum, now this is ok.

It is really impossible to work in this conditions.Fireworks CS4 crashes too when trying to save a file.

My problem is when I try to work with 3d workspace while using 3d feature for a particular object, it shows 3d platform and default 3d settings/ properties to that particular shape but as soon as i try to click on scene or any other property option in 3d layer menu it stops working and shows not responding error. I suspect the video card as I have only had this computer about one year and no problems with cs5. From what I can find out is that this is one of the video cards not tested by Adobe.Â

CS4 allows all editing features but crashes with attempt to print. I also have a printing utility called QImage. Since installing CS4, QImage crashes with any attempt to open it. As a further "clue", attempting to print from Adobe Reader 9.1 crashes that program.

I have a blank document open and have tried both placing and opening an image (not one image in particular but many) and I recieve a pop up box saying CS3 has encountered an error and needs to close. View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I purchased CS3 Web Premium it took several months of tooling around to get it to install on Vista HP. Photoshop cs3 worked fine for a few months after installation. It now refuses to open any files - just goes to an eternal spinning icon. When I try to shut it down, it just says not responding. I reinstalled once (takes hours) and it worked for an afternoon. Next morning back to not opening files.
Macine is dell xps M1210, 2Gb Ram, Core 2 T5600 processor, NVIDIA Go 7400 64Mb card.
Photoshop crashes whenever I try to have two files open at once. It's doing it on my co-worker's computer too. Mine has done it as long as I've had this computer, but his just started doing it today; it worked fine before that. We're running CS3 on Vista.

PS installed fine, was blazing fast, and all was good. I then got Vista, formatted the system, etc. Tried to install PS, and it would crash on startup. Eventually I found the PS Clean uninstall script, and that has been helping. Now when I try to reinstall, it reinstalls fine, but again, immediate crash. I figured, long shot, but maybe somehow my PS disc was corrupt, so I spent last night DLing a trial from here. Again, immediate crash.Running 64bit Vista, I have the option to open wither Adobe Photoshop CS4, or Adobe Photoshop CS4 (32 bit.) They both have the exact same error.This is getting pretty annoying, and I honestly have already spent too long looking through KB articles, and I'm hoping you guys might have a solution for me. I have logged out and back in to the CC to no purpose. I am completelt fed up with continually beta testing Adobe's software and paying through the nose for it.

If I open a PSD with type, the file opens but Photoshop hangs. If the PSD contains no type (eg type rasterised), Photoshop works fine. My OS is Windows Vista.

The Adobe Photoshop CC 14.1.1 (14.1.1.415) crashes immediately on startup under OS X 10.8.5 unless I am running logged into the root account. This happens when I try to run Adobe Creative Cloud.app as a standard user or as a user with admin privileges.

In other words, the only way I am able to run the Adobe Photoshop CC application is if I take the dangerious option of enablign the root account, logging into it and then directly running the application.
