Photoshop :: How To Record HDR Toning Setups As Actions
Apr 16, 2013I've tried to save specific setups within an Action script but while I can call the HDR Toning panel up, the settings are not remembered.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to make some recordings/actions, which I've done alot before, but I can't get all of my blending options to record. Specifically the curves to my bevel & emboss and my contour....after playing the action, it will apply the DEFAULT bevel and won't remember any of my gloss contour settings.Â
I'm trying to make these actions universal, however when I select a layer to modify, it records the name of the layer I click on...so if i use the recording later on a different file and it doesn't have that same layer name, then the action won't work...Â
I'm trying to record a tool selection, in actions.
For example:
Last action........Apply style
As the next action I would like to record..........Select Move tool, or any other tool.
I want to crop several images to size, then add a white boarder, a drop shadow and a stroke. Is there a way to automate the process, so they are all exactly the same?

Is there a simple way to export objects, axis, or lights to FBX files? Obviously, the FBX camera node can export a camera but it would be useful to export an axis as a locator, at the least.
How do I record a series of actions that I can then save it as a kind of script or macro that I can run then in another work session on an object? Is this possible?

View 19 Replies View RelatedI am trying to learn what can be done using HDR Toning in Photoshop CS5. At first I was impressed by its capabilities. I was working on a photograph of a train in a wooded valley in eary spring (before most leaves were out), with bright sunlight coming from almost straight overhead. So, the top of the train and the ballast in front of the train are very bright, the woods to the sides were shadowed, and the sides and nose of the train were in deep shadow. HDR Toning seemed to be giving me very nice control over adjusting the various tones. But when I closed the HDR Toning window, PhotoShop thought for a couple of seconds, and then changed my image, making it much darker than it was when the window was open!Â
Â
What's going on here? Is this expected behavior? How can I get HDR Toning to keep my photograph from changing after I close the window?
I have a question about using toning curves...
In older versions of Photoshop, I was able to use Paul Butzi's beautiful toning curves (which are ACV files) through the Curves menu.
There was a 'Load' button, and if I pressed that, I could browse my curves folder and pick whatever curve I wanted. Is there any way to do that in Photoshop CS5? I can't seem to find a 'Load' button under Curves, and I'm not sure how to use the Custom Curve feature.
I can't seem to load them under Filters, either. How I could load them?
how to get the blue tone like in this picture, while maintaining the true whites and blacks?
View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen I click on the hdr toning menu it comes up too large, it obscures the image and I cannot move it around as the blue border at the top is not there...is there a way I can make that menu/window smaller...so that I can see the image and move it around...the sharpen image is quite large as well but there is a plus/minus widow which allows to see the image

Just recently got into time lapse photography and have been batch processing away to my hearts content. I have one scene that looks unbelievable with the "surrealistic" HDR toning preset. However, I record my action and set up the folders and set it to go, but it seems to want me to click "ok" after filtering each photo...there's 1685 of them, so not very keen on that.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to get the black and white filter layer to work. When I click on "tint" a strong yelowish tone appears. When I slide the color sliders to alter the tint absolutely nothing happens. I have tried clicking on just about everything I can find in the B&W filter dialogue boxes to no avail.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo i hit the little "T" text tool, and i get the generic Windows 7 "This program has encountered a program and needs to close" error. I click out of the error box, and all my work disappears as well as any changed preferences and recently opened files. The same happens when i try to use Image> Adjustments>HDR Toning. Yay. And what's funny is BOTH errors display a fault module of "CoolType.dll."
Â
I have tried EVERYTHING that everyone has posted about on every computer-related forum that i could find. NOTHING has worked at all. I deleted every single font minus the system fonts, including anything mentioning them in the system registry. Tried new copy of the dll file, nothing. Reset Photoshop preferences, nothing. System restore failed. Uninstall/reinstall of entire Adobe Master Collection failed.

Oh, and in the 32-bit version, HDR Toning works but the text tool gives me an error message that "something prevented the text engine from being initialized." And, well, i just don't want to use the 32-bit version.
I have a set of images in 32 bit .hdr format, which I would like to turn into 8 bit png files. Specifically, they are 6 sides of a cubemap, which join together seamlessly, and still need to do so after the conversion.
I've played around with the options in the HDR toning dialogue and have a setup I really like the look of, based around the 'local adaptation' method. The trouble is, if I apply those settings to each of the 6 images individually, they are no longer seamless (some have higher/lower contrast and brightness etc), presumably because these settings are 'relative to' the image being processed.
how can I apply the same kind of operations to each of these images (so they remain seamless), mimicking what the 'local adaptation' method is doing?
The specific settings I have changed in the dialogue are the edge glow radius and strength, the 'detail', and the colour vibrance and saturation.
I downloaded a couple of actions from the web to my actions palette and they worked fine, but then I got greedy and downloaded a few more and that’s when things went south. Now none of the actions work - by not working I mean when I mouse over the Play Selection icon at the bottom of the action palette I get that little circle with a line through it. This happens with the PS default actions as well (I also get the circle on the Stop Playing/Recording and Begin Recording icons).
Somewhere in the following is probably what messed things up.
I downloaded actions to my computer in zip files. Copied them over to the actions folder (or somewhere) and unzipped them. I went back to the actions palette and hit “load actions” and loaded them. On the second set of actions that I downloaded I remember thinking “why am I copying and pasting these files - I bet I should cut and paste them, so I did and that may have been the start of the great crumble of 2004. PhotoShop help says: (under Saving and loading actions) “Actions are automatically saved the the Actions Palette folder in PS7.0 Settings folder. If this file is lost or removed, the actions you created are lost”.
I have searched for the settings folder and couldn’t find it, but the actions still show up on the actions palette - they just don’t run.
I’m a little fuzzy on the details on the above steps. In fact, I probably did something different on each download.
one more thing, I reloaded PhotoShop, but still nothing.
I used CS2 for a while as my son had it for his business needs. In it PS had presets for selenium tones and there was one that used a purple in the quad set and after some minor tweaking by me really had that selenium tone to it. The purple made the blacks very dense and the mid tones very rich looking.
I don't have the combination of the quad set I was using but is it possible to use a similar set with PSP X2? They used curves to adjust each color separately so the person using the quad could adjust it to their own tastes. I used to have the purple very subtle, at least to my eyes, which left the image very rich looking.
My computer crashed and I removed all apps and reinstalled so now none of my actions appear. However I do have a backup file of all of them and want to reinstall but before when I was using cs6 ( Im assuming same thing as CC as it was all on the subscription plan ) I would click actions then the right arrows and it would bring me a big screen of all the actions ( even the ones that were just preloaded in ps ) and it was a big box with all the actions and some options to record etc...Now that box isn't there and it's just a single column drop down menu.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've tried in a few different files now to import some sheet file (paper space) layouts from other files and it is just giving me a blank screen once I choose the file to import from. The paper space layouts aren't showing up to choose from, if that makes any sense. It has been awhile since I've had to do this, so admittedly could be doing something wrong, but I don't think so as I've searched but found none.
I'm right clicking on the paper space tab and choosing "Page setup manager" then "import", finding the file I want to import from and then the next box pops up with what is supposed to be the layouts to choose from but it's blank.
Is it possible to archive setups without archiving the whole project?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have quite a few thousand of drawings that each has a different page setup saved in them. What I would like to do is to remove all of these pageset ups from these drawings, import a newly one, set it to current and then save the file for later printing. Maybe some lisp file that can accomplish this.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI like to put my actions somewhere special on my hardrive, not in apps folder.
Now, in past, when I saved actions CS2 would "remember" where this folder was, making real easy to save.
Lately, it keep defaulting to save as in the app folder-- even though I did navigate to my special area on last save as.
Is it possible to purge page setups from the plot dialog?

I have a copy machine that staples automatically but i dont want it to staple all the time. I made two page setups 1 called toshiba 11x17 and one called 11x17 stapled. However every time i go into the properties for them whatever i do to one effects the other. I just want one to be stapled one to not be stapled and everything else to be identical.

When trying to open the Connect FX editor, I get the following error on all connect FXs: "The Connect FX has lost its setup and can no longer rendered or edited."
Any Lisp routine available out there that will import a page setup in multiple drawings in one shot and save it to the group of drawings? Kind of the way you can import a page setup in a group of drawings in Publish, but that's only temporary for that particular print job. I'm looking for something that will permanently save it to the list of drawings.
View 1 Replies View Relatedhow to create page setups for multiple printers in a network environment?
Here is the problem:
We have 2 offices with 3-7 printers per office and each printer with different capabilities (black and white, color, 11x17, wide format, etc.). I have CAD users who know little about setting up layouts so I want to create preconfigured layouts that they can import from a template via Design Center or other means.
I know I could set up a layout for each printer, page size, plot scale, and plot style table, but that gets to be so many layout permutations that it becomes overwhelming to manage and use. Up until now I had set up PC3 files for a few commonly used printers (wide format plotter, laser, pdf) and gave them generic names with the intent that I could simply direct the output to any printer by assigning it to one of the generic PC3 files. The problem I've encountered is that over time we've acquired new printers and old printers sometimes go offline or out of service and many of the printers have incompatible printable areas and page sizes to each other, so for example a page setup that calls for an 11x17 sheet for one printer does not have an equivalent size when a different printer is assigned to the layout.
Are we stuck with having to configure setups for each and every printer and permutation?
